What's your favorite scary movie? šŖ
Look, I appreciate a confident, competent Eddie as much as the next person. Iāll gobble that shit up in fics. But for me, Eddie Munson is a pathetic little freak. Heās a wet rat man. When describing Eddie, you could use the term āscampersā. He bites, and not always in the sexy way. That boy blushes and fumbles whenever Steve so much as smirks at him. Heās a nerdy little virgin who talks a big game and acts like he knows what heās doing, only to come apart the second Steve so much as lays a hand on him. Heās a horrible little gremlin, and I LOVE that about him. Thatās MY Eddie Munson.
i just want Eddie to pop a lil peck on Steve's nose out of NOWHERE without ANY prompting just boop kiss and then he runs away while Steve's just sat there with the dail up tone going off in his head.
Yup yup yup, you got it hot mama (gender neutral with all of my affection)
Okay, this one took some turns. 3k words worth it turns but fuck it! It was fun! Enjoy! š¤
āEddie is a bit like a bumblebeeā Steve thinks to himself as he watches the man in question flit from friend to friend as they all call it a night.
Itās not as if anyone is actually going anywhere. Outside the cicadas are screaming up a storm and the summer evening light has long since dwindled into darkness. Upstairs the guest rooms have been made up. The trash bag in his hand gives a metallic rattle: the sound of a night spent stacking empties by guests now too inebriated to drive home. Tonight was nothing like the ragers of yesteryear but never let it be said that Steve Harrington doesnāt know how to throw a decent shindig together. It was just the six of them - the elder half of the Party.
Nancy seems particularly amused by Eddieās insistence on hugging her and Jonathan good-night before he turns and bows to Argyle. Robin just nods solemnly when sheās offered a handshake thatās getting more complicated by the minute.
Steve huffs a laugh. Heās busying himself with returning all the VHS tapes to their places on the shelf and tossing pizza boxes when Eddie bounces up beside him.
āA better movie night has never been had, Harrington.ā Eddie grins and leans in close. Steve vaguely remembers a time when he found it odd ā Eddieās enigmatic tendency to press closer and closer into peopleās space. Nowadays, he canāt stop the tiny thrill he feels with every disappearing inch between them. A sharp tingling that makes itās way up his spine. Itās not something heās looking at too closely if heās painfully honest.
āYeah? Not gonna talk shit on my picks?ā Steve shifts the bag from one hand to the other to rattle his movie choice for the evening.
Top Gun. For⦠reasons.
āNah. You did good. All those bomber jackets really added to the ambiance of the evening.ā Eddie snickers and Steve gives him a weak nudge, fighting a smile of his own. āNighty-night, Stevie.ā
And maybe itās seemingly endless supply of Purple Palm Tree Delight supplied by Argyle. Perhaps the drinks hit him heavier than he thought, though he feels steady enough on his feet - a bit wobbly maybe but upright. Whatever it is, Steve almost misses the moment when Eddie leans in and presses a kiss, an honest to god kiss, to the tip of Steveās nose.
Before Steve can respond or move or shift his chin up just a smidge because āmy lips are down here Munson.ā
And hold the god damn phone because what is that train of thought? Did he want Eddie to kiss him? Like really kiss him?
It doesnāt matter because heās stuck for a moment staring at the empty space Eddie had occupied seconds before. By the time Steve has enough wherewithal to take in the room once again, Eddie has already disappeared up the stairs. Robin is still lingering by the kitchen giving him a wide-eyed look.
āYou see that?ā Steve whispers and heās not all that sure why. Robin just nods. She seems as shocked as he is.
āI just- yeah. I gotta go to bed.ā Steve ties the bag in his hand and just drops it the floor. āIāll do that in the- yeah.ā
āDonāt hurt yourself, dingus.ā Because now that the oddity of the moment has passed, of course Robin is laughing at him. āWeāll decipher it in the morning. Come on.ā
Theyāve got a routine down now. Robin sleeps over more often than she doesnāt these days. Sheās even got a permanent drawer full of flannel pyjamas right beside his own. Thereās two toothbrushes in the cup by his bathroom sink, two blankets on his bed because he sleeps hot and she sleeps cold. When they finally collapse side by side, Robin giggles.
āYou like, really nailed that whole interaction.ā
āWhat happened to deciphering it in the morning?ā Steve groans and rolls onto his side.
Robin mirrors his movements so that theyāre face to face, hands pressed under their chins. Heās lost count of how many times heās fallen asleep to the sight of her freckles and the lines between her eyes that seem less and less likely to smooth out with every averted apocalypse.
āNo, weāre gonna. Just ya know, kinda hard to sleep with this great big elephant in the room.ā She widens her eyes as far as theyāll go which, given how alarming it looks, forces Steve to press his mouth into his hand to smother his own laughter.
āShut up.ā
āNo seriously. I think you did great considering- well, except for the frozen-deer-in-the-headlights thing. Real Hans Solo dipped in carbonate energy. Iām sure Eddie liked it.ā
āDoes it matter if he did?ā Steve is genuinely asking at this point. āI mean he told everyone good night. Heās just like, affectionate right?ā
āPretty sure he didnāt smooch anyone else unless he snuck Argyle some tongue while I was blinking or something. Jealous if he did?ā
āFuck. Off.ā Steve grumbles. āThat didnāt count as kiss from a guy did it?ā
āAh, questions for the sunlight.ā
āYou literally started this conversation.ā Steve sighs heavily.
Robin just snorts and falls asleep chuckling beside him.
The thing is they donāt talk about it the next day because frankly, it seems silly in the warm light of day. It was just Eddie being Eddie and thereās nothing more to interpret than that. Except-
Except that Eddie does it again.
And again. And again. But only to Steve!
Eddie hugs and pats and shakes and ruffles every single one of their friends in all sorts of situations.
But the kissing? Thatās just for Steve as far as he can tell.
If it can even be called kissing. Which it canāt because only one set of lips is involved. Right?
Right. Itās just one set of lips doing all the puckering.
Lips pressed into Steveās his nose (a favorite, it seems) and his forehead and his cheeks. Once Eddie even kissed the soft skin on the back of his neck and even though heād had Steve in a pseudo headlock at the time it still counted.
What it counted for, Steve didnāt know but what he did know is that every damned time Eddie kissed some benign part of Steve, his heart thumped like a jackrabbit afterwards. Itās like every kiss is a bee sting: not painful in any sense but a lingering sensation. Theyāre a warm buzzing beneath his skin that grabs all of his thoughts and just tosses them out to make room for more Eddie Kisses both Real and Hypothetical.
Heās started wondering what those lips would feel like against his own ā or the much more time consuming alternative: against other, less benign parts of him. Heās started thinking that maybe those kisses would linger too and itās not a bad thought. Not in the slightest.
Steve spares precisely one morning shift to go into a full blown panic about it all with Robin. By the time they clock out, theyāre sliding into a booth at the diner to split a plate of fries and come up with a plan.
The Plan is flawless, if Steve says so himself. (Which he does.)
Step One: Watch Eddie. This is quickly revealed to be the easiest step because Steve has come to realise he does little else. Every time theyāre in a room together, or just in the same general vicinity, Steveās eyes drift towards the other man like a homing beacon.
Step Two: Ascertain if Eddie wants to kiss Steve the same way Steve wants to kiss Eddie.
Steve might be going a little insane with Step Two. Every word out Eddieās mouth is stored away for later repetition in his mind. Every glance or casual touch is loaded with the possibility of double meaning.
The way Eddie smiles at him is the source of countless sleepless night.
The way they always gravitate towards one another, the way Eddie seems to look at Steve like heās forgotten other people are in the room, the way Eddie tells a joke and always, always looks to see if Steve laughs. Normally Steve is so much better at gaging this sort of thing but reading queues from a man feels like a leap of faith he isnāt sure of yet. So he waits and waits and waits.
Until-
Until he and Eddie are lingering over a departure from Hellfire night. Steveās car is full of teenagers. If the way the Beemer is rocking back and forth on its suspension thereās a solid chance two or more of them are getting frisky which, ewgrossdeletedelete, or theyāre fighting over the box of Little Debbieās heād picked up earlier.
āTheyāre like rabid dogs.ā Eddie says right against the shell of Steveās ear.
It catches him so off-guard that he nearly flinches but instead he lets the shiver of Eddieās proximity roll across his shoulders.
āYeah, I should probably-ā Steve waves in the general direction of the ruckus but he grimaces even as he says it.
āWoah, Stevie. Better curb that enthusiasm.ā Eddie laughs and fuck, heās standing close. āSee you you tomorrow?ā
Thereās hardly any space between them. Itās after dark so Steve forces himself to keep his eyes on the prize rather than glance down the street for nosey neighbors.
āOf course. Your place, right?ā Steve letās himself sway just a smidgen closer. Close enough to smell the hint of cheap cologne and the sugary cherry slushie Eddie was sipping all night.
Just like that, Eddieās eyes flicker down to Steveās lips. The other boy swipes his tongue along his own. Itās as clear a sign as Steve thinks heāll ever get. Before he knows it, Eddie is smacking a loud, obnoxious kiss against his cheek before bounding off towards his van.
That had to be the proof in the pudding. Either that or Steve should just hang up his Game for good. He feels light and full of hope. He feels sure. He feels confident and more than a little giddy. Step three is definitely a go.
Step Three: Wait for Eddie to go for the nose.
Steve makes sure to wait until itās just the two of them but even then this Step is the shortest of them all. The nose really does seem to be Eddieās favorite.
Steve is leaned back into the Munsonās sofa. The boombox in the corner of the living room of their new trailer is humming quietly. Some band Steve doesnāt know the name of but thinks he likes just fine. The air is a bit hazy.
āYou wanna stay over?ā Eddie offers, exhaling another plume of smoke as he does. āThe new couch is pretty comfy.ā
āSure.ā Steve lets his head lull to the side. Heās not all that high, just comfortable. His limbs feel heavy and his breathing slow. Thatās how it is when he and Eddie are together. Itās just- itās just warm and safe and nice but exciting in that way that still lets you feel a bit melty.
āCool, Iāll grab some blankets.ā Eddie smothers the end of the joint theyād been splitting in an ashtray on the coffee table. He groans when he stands, tilting his head this way and that. The motion allows his shirt to slide towards one shoulder until that long, pale neck is spread out for Steve to watch like a hawk. Steve wants to grab, to squeeze, to bite. Eddie is covered in flesh made all pink and new by the scars the bats left behind just like Steve. It sort of makes him want to put his own teeth all over Eddie instead.
āHere you are, darlinā.ā
Steveās broken from his train of thought by a quilt being dropped onto the couch cushion beside him and Eddieās voice coming from right in front of him.
Then Eddieās leaning over and oh!
This is it. This is Step Three.
āSweet dreams, Stevie.ā Eddie smiles and leans further over the couch. So much further that he has to brace his hand beside Steveās head. Hand to God, Steve couldnāt make this moment more perfect if he tried. Eddie moves to kiss the tip of Steveās nose and at the last second Steve tips his chip up instead and then-
Step Three is a resounding success so far. Eddieās lips are exactly as sweet Steve knew they would be. Heās no stranger to them after all, not really. Warm, soft, and just a little bit of spit along Eddieās bottom lip. Just enough slide that Steve can turn his head a fraction so that their noses slot together.
Before Steve can press any further forward, Eddie is jerking backwards.
āOh shit. Fuck. Sorry.ā Eddie brings a hand up to his mouth. He looks a bit out of it and Steve spares a second to feel smug that one little olā kiss did all that. That is until the stunned look on Eddieās face starts to look more and more panicked.
āItās fine.ā Steve rushes, holding up his hands like Eddie is a skittish animal. āMore than fine. Eddie-ā
And no, no, no, no, no. Eddie is backing away. Scrambling is more like it. Steve does the first thing that comes to mind. He feels his heart hammering in his chest at the thought that Eddie will walk away and not know.
So Steve hooks his hands around Eddieās knees and tugs. Hard. Suddenly he has a lap full of panting Eddie Munson.
āSteve, shit. I didnāt mean to- Iām sorry. You donāt have to do this. Fuck. You can go home if you want. I didnāt-ā
āEddie, hey.ā Steve puts his hands on either side of Eddieās neck, running his thumbs up and down along a stubbly jaw which ā what a wild contrast to how this usually goes. Itās good. Itās so much better than good. It takes every fiber of his being to just hold Eddie there and not rush forward head first. āIāve got you. Youāre okay. Weāre okay Eds.ā
Eddieās breathing slows just long enough for him to say in a rush āI donāt think you realise- itās just that, well, I think we might be on two different pages here man. Different books. Genreās. Whole fucking libraries. And Iām sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, the whole āme wanting to kiss youā thing.ā
āSame page, Edās. Iām not uncomfortable.ā Steve canāt help the huff of laughter that slips out. Itās just that Eddie is always peacocking, strutting, swaggering around full of boastful confidence. Steve knows a lot of it is a front but itās a damn good one. The more Steve knows the guy, the less he comprehends all that worry over being a coward. Thereās no person on this planet braver or bolder than Eddie Munson.
āIām gay!ā Eddie blurts out, fisting his hands into Steveās shirt. Brave and bold, case in point.
Okay this is a moment. A Big One. This is a thing he knows how to do. Steve has to admit heās a little distracted by the shirt grabbing. Itās making his stomach tighten and his blood rush in all sorts of directions but heās done this before! He knows his line.
āOh.ā Steve breathes.
Shit thatās not it! What is it? OH!
āThank you for telling me.ā Steve smiles up at him, a tiny bit proud that he got it right. Or at least he thinks he did but then Eddie is releasing Steveās shirt (hey donāt do that) and gripping his own hair at the roots.
āThank you but no. I mean, Iām gay. I know I said it once but it bears repeating because Iāve been on the receiving end of more than one hit for not being clear. This isnāt just- Iām not kissing you as a friend! I am like, crushing on you. Hard. In a very gay way.ā Eddie waves his hands at himself with his spreads his fingers wide as if to say ājust look at all this Gay that I amā which is just stupidly endearing.
āYeah, I got it.ā Steve nods and slowly, carefully, gently wraps his hands around Eddieās wrists before guiding them back down to where they were clenched against his belly before. āWeāre kissing in a very gay way.ā
Steve leans up and licks at Eddieās bottom lip where his mouth is hanging open a little bit, gawking at Steve.
āIām okay with that. In fact Iām pretty sure I started it. You justā another kiss to Eddies top lip and then one more to the bottom lip just to see if they taste the same. ākeep missing my mouth. Thought Iād help you out.ā They might actually taste wildly different so he repeats the experiment.
āOh fuck. Okay.ā Eddie melts against him. āYouāre sure? I donāt wanna fuck this up Stevie. I donāt think I can just try this out and not like - and not keep you.ā He whispers the last bit like itās the part thatās most secret out of all of it.
Steve pulls away just far enough to look into Eddieās eyes. āIām sure. Iām not trying anything out. I want to do everything with you all the time until youāre sick of me.ā Steve takes a moment to finally sink his teeth into that skin thatās been teasing him all night. He bites and licks at the juncture between Eddieās neck and shoulder until Eddie squirms his lap and actually fucking whimpers which is just- just so beyond good. Steve moves up to Eddieās ear, pausing just long enough to whisper. āI wanna keep you too Edās. Be a shame stop now that weāve finally gotten it right.ā
By not letting Steve and Eddie fight side by side we were not only robbed of seeing Steve and Eddie fight back-to-back with a nail bat and shield. But we also missed the opportunity for the Molotov cocktail to fail in the big fight against Vecna, leaving SteveĀ āgreat at shotgunning beerā Harrington and EddieĀ āchain-smokerā Munson to make do with what they have and their whits.Ā
Iām imagining Steve racing to the rescue, grabbing the remains of the bottle, cutting his lip as he takes a long swig of vodka and gestures for Eddie to throw him his lighter. What ensues is a scene of Steve spitting blood and fire to set Vecna ablaze. Leaving Eddie and his years-long obsession with dragons and Steve Harrington to implode on site.Ā
thinking about drunk stevie climbing into eddie's lap and cuddling close and steve being like "eddieeeee do you like boyssss" and robin is like god no steve and trying to drag him off but steve has his arms around eddie's neck and he's not budging. in true awkward, closeted fashion, eddie says no. steve's silly smile turns into a pout. "oh. thats so sad......"
eddie and robin make panicked eye contact over steve's head.
steve narrows his eyes and leans in. "do you think you might like boys tomorrow?"

Okay following Steveās self discovery journey is great, but nothing excites me as everyone taking him for a straightā¢ļø and Steve being like āwhat??? Iāve literally dated guys before??? Remember Tommy?? And when I said I āwant girls and moreā?? My best friend is a lesbian?? I literally offered to flirt with the Principal?? The fuck is this homophobic shit guys?? Do you think I would spend that much time and money on my hair not to attract literally anyone?ā
Steve needed only a moment to process Robinās sexuality when she came out, not because he couldnāt grasp the concept of her being a lesbian, but because heād had feelings for her and he needed a second to readjust them. STEVE IS NOT STRAIGHT. WHAT STRAIGHT MAN WOULD REACT LIKE THAT.
women are allowed to be a little mean to me if they're hot about it
#Heās pretty when heās wet š§
Eddie came out to Steve and Robin shortly after he got out of hospital. Robin came out to him first, and she made it clear Steve was accepting of her.
Eddie still worried though, because he knew guys could be just fine with lesbians but still get on the defensive when it came to gay guys existing around them He didn't want to believe that of Steve, not after everything they'd been through together, but he couldn't be sure all the same.
When he did finally manage to get the words out, he tried to sound casual, like it was no big deal, but of course he failed. In a lull in the conversation, Steve still mid-laugh from the last thing Robin said, Eddie just blurted it out. "I'm gay."
Just that. Those two words. Robin sat upright and yelled at him, something along the lines of "Why didn't you tell me before?" but Eddie wass too busy looking at Steve's reaction to answer her.
He watched as Steve's face fell, as the sparkle in his eyes dulled and his brows pulled together. Eddie felt his heart break a little, braced himself for rejection.
"Relax, man," he added, heart racing, saying anything he could think of to make Steve act normal about this. "Don't get your panties in a twist, Harrington. Just because I like guys doesn't mean I'm gonna turn around and hit on you, no offense but you're not my type."
It was a fucking lie, of course. At least partially. Because Steve wasn't Eddie's usual type, but that had stopped mattering the moment Eddie watched him bite that bat in half and it mattered even less with every subsequent interaction they had. The truth was, Eddie had it bad for Steve.
Steve took a moment, expression slowly filtering from whatever his initial reaction had been to something more supportive.
"Gee, thanks," he said, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Good to know." Eddie sighed with relief. Steve reached out and rested a hand on Eddie's shoulder and Eddie did his best not to lean into the touch.
And they don't mention it again.
---
Steve had been trying to work up the courage to ask Eddie out for months. Every time Eddie bumped shoulders with him while they walked, every time he heard the sound of Eddie's guitar through an open window before he knocked on the door, every time they were alone together and Eddie was gesturing wildly talking about something Steve knew nothing about, Steve wanted to kiss him.
It was almost background noise after a while, but when Robin made it clear Eddie knew about her, that he was cool with it, that he'd been supportive, the feeling had exploded into something more.
Steve was embarrassed to say he was probaby just one of Eddie's blinding grins in his direction away from finding a notebook for the express purpose of scribbling the words Steve Munson, SHā¤ļøEM all over the margins.
Maybe he could ask Eddie out, and maybe he wouldn't cut Steve off immediately, but there was a big difference between a girl coming out to you and some guy hitting on you directly, so Steve was waiting for the right time, when he could beat a hasty retreat and maintain some dignity if it went bad.
And then Eddie came out.
Steve felt himself freeze, hope fizzing in his chest as he tried his best not to look too giddy with excitement at the idea. He'd barely processed the words when Eddie said the rest.
No offense, but you're not my type
The hope which had previously started to blossom shrivelled up and died, while Steve stumbled through what he hoped was a supportive response. He wanted to make it clear that Eddie had nothing to fear from him, even while his heart broke.
Eddie liked guys.
Eddie just didn't like him.
Steve had been rejected before, but it had never stung like this.
Steve tried his best to act normal around Eddie, after. He really did. It was just difficult, when every moment they spent together had Steve's mind racing.
It had been one thing when he'd assumed Eddie was straight, but now, knowing he could have had a chance but Eddie just wasn't interested... It was so much worse. Steve couldn't stop thinking about it. He was jealous of someone who might not even exist, this man who was Eddie's type, who wasn't Steve.
You think i like [serie/book/movie's name] bc i thought it was good?? You fool, absolute moron. I merely liked the concept and/or some of the characters then proceded to daydream about possibilities, but unfortunately so did other queer little people and now we are all trapped in this self-made hell
people who write jaskier as old and completely human in a canon setting. i need u to know that u are so much stronger than i am. if jaskier is human, i dont even read the fic. and u write it?? u put yourself through hours of thinking abt jaskiers slow decay while his immortal friends sit back and watch?? u do that for fun?? i fear u. i envy u. i am somewhat attracted to u.
@goodbyevanny said this needed to be a thing and she was RIGHT
once in a while i obsess over Bilbo & Thorin again, so in case that's your jam, here's another fanfic I won't ever write!
After a time in the Undying Lands, Bilbo dies peacefully and finds himself in Yavannah' green fields with every other hobbit that has ever lived. His parents, family, friends, everyone. It's beautiful and plentiful and happy.. and it's also full of hobbits wanting to make social calls.
Anyway, one day, while tending to his garden that always makes perfect tomatoes (how boring!), he thinks how nice it would be if his afterlife and the dwarven afterlife were connected.
And dwarves love to live underground. So...
He digs.
And digs. And digs more.
Since time, hunger and exhaustion are not a thing anymore, there's nothing that keeps him going back up, so he digs until he hits rocks, and then he gets a pick axe and keeps digging.
Until one day, he hits through nothing. He find himself in the ceiling of a huge cavern, cut into stone in very dwarven architecture.
Thousands of dwarves raise their eyes, completely stunned.
'Huh, hello? Are these the halls of Mahal? I'm looking for dwarves. Thirteen of them-- not anyone, thirteen very specific dwarves.'
And from the crowd, thirteen voices start yelling at the same time.
I'm suuuuper insecure about posting that sketch bc I have too high expectations of myself to draw Eskel decently. I'm failing to draw game!esk. And NX!esk... hm i'm not sure about nx!esk yet. So i'm trying to come up with my very own version of him. Trying to draw him the way I imagine him. I think I have a long way to go but....alas.
i blame @devendrasbeard and @hallistarling that this esk is showing up on your dash. i'm sorry. :D
There are two wolves inside you
You are jaskier in kaer morhen
People suggesting drawing jaskier in geralts shirt gave me this thought
