Another video I watched and took elements from that could help with my project.
PROGRESS
The designing and exporting the pages and individual elements out of photoshop was easy due to my previous knowledge of the program. The struggles for this project for me came around using indesign and finding out how to use the program in the way that I envision my interactive PDF.
ENCOUNTERS:
Getting the page images to show at high res quality when exported = Solved by changing the pixels/inch from 72 to 300.
Getting the animated pages to play on a loop = Solved by not importing GIF files (which would have automatically been on loop but weren't a supported file type) but saving them as SWF files and importing them again into the page as media and setting it to 'play on page load'
Getting the intended images to interact so people would know to click the image to continue in the story = Struggled with this one for a bit but didn't have the time I'd hope to get the images to change on mouse rollover.
Setting up the PDF so they are able to navigate via buttons instead of flicking through the entire PDF page for page = Solved by having the pages set up in a linear story (despite being a non-linear story) and saving each page in the document as a button/form element so that when I select an image (the choices) the image will be linked via selection of my buttons/forms library. This will allow pages to be skipped and have the PDF set on an infinite loop where they can go around again and try a different choice.
Some of my scribbles and working outs of the ideas in my brain.
Another reference that in the end helped me with working the pages in my favour.
This helped me create the pages as physical links that could be referenced by buttons on other pages, allowing the overall book to be not in chronological order but allow the spectator to navigate through thee pages via the buttons illustrating the choices they must make.
In this tutorial I show you how to create an interactive PDF within Adobe Indesign CC. An interactive PDF is one that can be interacted with by the user. The...

PROJECT 2 - EXPERIMENTAL PDF
Your next mission (should you choose to accept it) involves creating an experimental PDF that follows on the guidelines of this class.
I plan to continue on with my perzine in a digital format relevant to the course. This one will be about peer pressure and will use InDesign and Photoshop to create a storyline similar t Choose-Your-Own-Adventure stories, where you are given a scenario and two options to react. Each reaction will present you with the consequence of your choice (the events at most a worst case scenario)
The work will focus on 3 scenarios often occurring with teenagers through peer pressure. Each situation is one I have personally been encountered with one of the consequences what I chose and the other a fabrication.
I have completed all of my intended pages for my perzine and have scanned them all into one big PDF document so that I can print them easily onto A4 plain paper double-sided which will be useful for mass production like in the zine world.
This perzine will act like a section from my diary that I am allowing he audience to witness inner thoughts and fears about my life. The audience can also learn from the anecdotes and somehow relate it to their own existence or enjoy the mini-stories.

Perzines are a genre of zines; the "per" meaning "personal". Although most zines could be considered personal in that the represent the opinionated work of one person, this tern describes zines that are written about one's own personal experiences, opinions and observations.
Have done most of the pages and made a little dummy copy of the zine so I can organise how the pages will be printed on A4 paper for A5 booklet size. Trying to focus my attention mostly on the graphic design of varying ways to express the story through text and image collaboration. I also want the spread-out pages to compliment one another so having one page with a minimal object versus one page fully illustrated.
Using this experience to play around with the way the works wrap around or support the text, getting the audience to better connect with the physical object of the zine.
Want to use this picture of my ten-year-old self for the cover.
Working on if I want to illustrate the image onto the cover or black and white photocopy. Trying to get a real characteristic illustration for the image to specify my style through exaggeration of my features.
On a roll with these book pages. May actually meet the deadline huzzah! If you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at? #zine #perzine #art #drawing #illustration #publishing #book #comic #moretocome
PROCESS: I have brainstormed little anecdotes of both humour and depression from my own life and used them for each of my pages. I sketch the pose based on the initial draft before I ink. I've used thick card to reduce amount of bleeding from ink pens. These pages will be collected, organised and scanned into PDFs before printing for final zine product. Unsure of cover yet but have changed title too "Confessions to my 10-year-old self* (*from the 20-year-old me)"
