ELI’s ‘It’s Fyn Tho/Survive The Party’ comes fresh off the back of his debut “Gemmed Pegasus 8.6” from earlier this year and it’s instantly clear how far this young producer has come in such a short while. ELI showcases his talent for dance-floor friendly faux rave in “It’s Fyn Tho”, which open up into a wall of euphoria that releases itself with sheer hyperactivity as layers of sugar laden synths assault your senses. On the b-side ELI shows his pop-sensitivity with “Survive the Party” -a contemplative slow jam that politely asks you to dance with household percussion and soft harmonies cuddling your ears.

This month its our pleasure to bring you an EP of dextrous beat incursions from Brisbane’s Weakling. Drawing inspiration from Spaghetti Western scores and Retro-Exploitation films like Big Bird Cage, this cinematic collection of sample studded tracks evokes a paradoxical sense of familiarity and other worldliness.
Setting the tone with it's soaring Morricone themed intro, Whiskey and Bone runs a maverick path between the back room ambiance and shimmering desert ephemera of its conception and the savvy, up to the minute bass music underpinnings of its execution – carving an unorthodox route to the dance floor on ‘trail of dust and smoke’, taking in oddly appropriate southern rap drawl on ‘Canyons’, and rolling out sweetly with the epic 4/4 burner ‘Afraid no more’

ELI - Gemmed Pegasus 8.6/Alien (Out on limited vinyl 23/06) This forthcoming release comes courtesy of one Eli Marsland, a bright young prospect hailing from our home town Brisbane. Eli’s Ender debut represents our first ever Vinyl release as well as his debut release proper. Both tracks on this single nicely demonstrate what Eli is capable of – colourful vignetted splashes of prodigious talent, bringing towering off kilter pressure and subtly nuanced production prowess. Gemmed Pegasus rolls out on a bleepy, technicolour Beat Dimensions tip before flipping into a beguilingly dreamy trap laced roller for the more sophisticated dancefloor. Meanwhile Alien is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it assault of thunderous slabs of stuttering noise – a track that seems to be as much on an unstoppable charge as it does on the brink of total collapse. KINDER BLEEP! is an event which aims to raise enough money to purchase 2 iPads (or more!) and load them up with music production Apps of varying complexity for the Children's Ward of the Royal Brisbane Hospital. The event will feature accomplished underground electronic artists, DJs and promoters of Brisbane's old and new guard, providing Audio Visual entertainment at the cities edgiest new club Wasteland. Following the purchase of the ipads Music Tech Academy co-founder and instructor Craig Parry will be giving up a week to go into the hospital and train the staff and long-stay children how to use the apps.
