Um..... so I just found out my dream job just transformed. Apparently Google has gotten out of their car (what an idea. #cityplanning) and are now recording paths by foot. Jaw drop. Awaiting the day that shadow is me :)

Last week I started my first salaried job. I survived that first week and have 2085 more to look forward to! That is, if the retirement age is still 65 at that point... Anyway, I couldn’t be more excited and thank EVERYONE who’s been there for me since I started school when I was 1... yes, 1. Next goal: AICP! Now lets get this massive former GM site into the prettiest TOD site you’ve ever seen :)

In different places throughout the past year, this crazy town Reykjavic has popped up. And today just pushed me over the edge. Not sure why this keeps happening, but I’m intrigued and REALLY want to visit. They even have great Airbnb!

It’s all about perspective.

Two weeks ago tomorrow, I graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with my Masters in City and Regional Planning. This was my second AND LAST degree from Georgia Tech. I have become a changed person since that day - stress-free, always happy - even though I have not locked down a job yet! Post-grad life is good.

Still catching up on 6 years of lost sleep.

So just a little update on where I've been since I last posted, last summer while interning in Charleston, SC. I am completing my final year of graduate school at Georgia Tech and have two internships. The first is in this pretty, historic building in Downtown Atlanta with Central Atlanta Progress, where I do planning & economic development for the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District. The second is an on-campus student internship with Georgia Tech Capital Planning & Space Management, which does planning and architecture for our entire 400+ acre campus. Now I'm in the job hunt as graduation creeps up on May 1st. I would like to get a job in Denver, and maybe Charleston or Savannah or somewhere in Florida or Texas as backups. Holla if you have a hook-up..........

Long story short, I ended up at the Google HQ on GoogleEarth just now (GoogleEarth is like Target. You go there with one intention and end up with ten million other things) and fell in love with this surface parking lot design... solar panels and trees covering nearly every spot in sunny California!

This one's similar to a bunch I've done before! Inspiration for a new clothing print? Lilly? Anyone? "Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink..."

Just weird. Can't we repurpose them?

I was working on a final report for my Sustainable Urban Development class and found myself writing about Sanyo's Solar Ark in Japan. Unfortunately GMaps hasn't developed this area in 45 degrees yet so it doesn't look so cool, but I did stumble upon this nearby. A strip of land just wide enough for your car. Is it called Road Island in Japanese?

So I think I've figured out where I need to move after graduation. Anyone in South Africa looking to hire a GIS expert or a greenspace planner? Any kind of urban planning will do just lovely!!!!!

I love their use of non-tacky color in addition to their focus on porches. Not to mention the beautiful sky and beachfront.
