Posting this picture and posting about Muswell Hillbillies yesterday reminded me of this anecdote related to both Ray shared, although atm I can’t remember where. Muswell won an Edison award (big Dutch music industry award) in 1972, and he said something like, when he went to the Netherlands to accept the award he thanked them all but also said, I don’t really understand why you like this album, though. (lol) and to illustrate why someone took him around to the places in their city where there was also upheaval going on through urban renewal programs. international solidarity and all that …
