... the other arts can also be sensuous, if only they will look to music, not to ape its effects but to borrow its principles as a "pure" art, as an art which is abstract because it is almost nothing else except sensuous.

dear Thistle team, it saddens me to see you go, but I will continue to cherish the little spark of magic you set in my heart. for the grand finale, do you think you can make it possible to purchase your very first issue in print? I'd love to have a complete series sit on my shelf. with my best wishes for your future, a long-time admirer
thank you for your kind words. we are sad to be ending Thistle too. we would love to make the very first issue available in print & will aim to do so very soon! <3

youāre in an old car, driving away from your home towards a new adventure, drinking iced coffee with the love of your life in the passengerās seat, planning where youāre going to stop to see the sunset, and dreaming your adventure to be something amazing
youāre in your best friendās room, blasting music, singing along to all the words, venting about the latest asshole in your life and commenting on the inevitability of heartbreak and now youāre actually free of the expectations of assholes
youāre sitting by a camp fire, itās cold and a little windy and youāre drinking mulled apple cider and you can hear your friends laughing in the backgroud, but all that you can focus on is the fire and the feeling that you were meant to be doing something bigger
you canāt sleep, youāre on the verge of tears, and all you can think about is the melancholy ache in the pit of your stomach and how thereās a haunting melody filled with acoustic guitars that you canāt place your finger on
blasting music through the car stereo, wearing cheap sunglasses with your hair down, turning down the road towards the ocean and screaming the words in time with the music so loud with the only intention that even the sea could hear your words

On music and magic in the everyday
I aim to connect the two [music and magic] as often as possible, and have better results some times than others⦠I try to find the right song to play in my house in my daily life ā or in the car or wherever ā to join with that moment and elevate it, without being aggressive or too passive. I would say this search is with me non-stop. If itās in concert-going or dancing in a club or preparing music for people, I try my best to merge the two.
