I have spent a week with one of my cousins and have not seen the man drink a sip of water. He only drinks Monster energy drinks. I reckon he drinks 8 tall cans a day. I’ve never seen another human live this way. It is equally fascinating and terrifying. I exist in the bubble of worrying about if I’m eating enough fiber daily and he doesn’t even drink water. Baffling.

Anyway, I head home tomorrow. Will be glad to get off the frying pan that is Las Vegas and back to the mountains. We close on our house Friday. I am SO ready to get settled back into my routines and start house projects.

Oooh. Also. I went to the international marketplace today and spent so much money on treats, unique foods and a new rice maker. My cousins (not the monster drinking one) are Hawaiian and I need to step up my rice game. 😆

Don’t even own the house yet and I’m learning so much. Likely will end up ripping up the yard and street before we move in to replace some old pipes. And while we’re at it, had the excavation company bid to fix the slope of the yard and set a new retaining wall. My dream has always been to have a magnificent outdoor space where I can host friends and animals and grow things. Just makes sense to tackle these two large projects before I put up a fence and plant some trees.

You know I had to do a final photoshoot. This place shaped us. A truly bittersweet moment.

But also happy to say we managed to get a house under contract and it’s a cute little cottage style bungalow (not a cabin, hallelujah) and I can’t wait to make it our own.

End of an era 🥹

I nearly forgot to tell you. Not long ago I told you about the unfortunate death of a woman by mountain lion. Incredibly rare. I said I’d never seen one myself. Well, I can now say that’s no longer true. We pulled up to a house for a tour and as I opened my door a mountain lion ROCKETED out from under the deck of the house and ran down the hill (away from us.) Turns out it had a deer kill under the deck. I considered that an immediate bad omen for the house. I saw what I needed to see and it wasn’t for me. 😆

Also, are some sellers are just delusional on their pricing lately? I get that there’s a price tag for where I live but man, I’ve seen some garbage for a lot of money 😆

Savoring our last few weeks on the river 🥰

I haven’t had time to string together cohesive thoughts lately as life has been whirling around me. But as I sit here getting a pedicure, let’s catch up.

We busted our asses to get the condo ready and listed it for sale on 5/13. Less than two days later we had a great offer and accepted it. We close this week. We’ve been hunting for our next house but haven’t found it yet. I’ve been oscillating from excitement to terror as I think of leaving this home that’s been filled with so, so much of my life and love. I have seen the most wildlife in this yard than anywhere I’ve ever lived and it’s never stopped being such a privilege to me. I hope the buyers appreciate this place as much as I have and I hope the universe has more gifts in store for me in the next place I make my home.

Oh, and in very non traditional fashion, M took me to a fine jewelry store today and let me pick out a ring. We’ve only been together 13 years. Maybe it’s too soon? 😆

But for real, I am proud of us and the work we have done to get to where we are right now. Feels a bit like magic and a lot like coming home…. Even though it doesn’t quite have an address yet.

There is something so comforting about his peaceful, steady love. Growing up in a more chaotic household, I think it took time to reprogram my brain to realize that steadiness is the greatest gift I could ever be given. He’s going to be my husband, y’all. Wild.

Anyway, I also hit one of my fitness goals this last week and benched 135 pounds for 2 reps. I’ve been working on that goal for a long time. Maybe I’ll get 155 before the year ends. Absolutely failed to complete the 1/2 marathon (injury upon injury) so it’s nice to get a win. I love lifting.
