FRESHIE NO MORE
Aaahh! Today’s the last day of July 2015 and school starts in less than two weeks from now! Had a sudden urge to reflect on my first year in UST. I will summarize my experience academically.
A lot of people probably say this even though it is so obvious but I’ll say it anyway since I can’t think of any other way to describe college in terms of the grading system: College is a lot harder than high school. You will not survive if you don’t take your lessons seriously. During my first semester, using the “I’m still adjusting” card, I did not work my way up to the top. My grades weren’t that bad but I knew I could do better I just didn’t work my ass out for it. I was chill and procrastinated a lot. There was even this time when our whole class could’ve been dispersed because of a class project that we failed to pass on time. Good thing the professor was merciful enough to lend us extra days to finish it. On the second semester, I started staying up late for my school works more often. Sleeping for 8 hours rarely happened!! 2 hours of sleep was already such a blessing. I literally had to drink loads of coffee for quite some time to stay awake. I really wanted to redeem myself and so I did. My second semestral grade’s high enough to qualify for being a dean’s lister! Lesson: Make your first step a big one! Literally, your performance in your first semester will affect the rest of your years as a college student! If you want a Latin award, you won’t be able to get that with acing only 2 or 3 semesters. Read your notes every time you have a spare time. Refrain from spending too much time on your gadgets. Gadgets played such a big role in wasting my time. Reading in advance is also such a great help. Participate in class and always go for a perfect attendance. Professor’s grade each student’s participation and some of them give additional grades for those who never skipped their class.
