The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk in San Diego
Longtime San Diego resident Thomas (Tom) Spetter has over 20 years of experience working in the medical technology industry. In his professional life, Thomas Spetter has overseen the development of treatments for a variety of diseases. He continues this work in his support for various medical charities. Among the charities he supports is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was founded in 1949. Its mission is to support research with the goal of curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. To this end, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society supports research by giving out grants, advocates for policies to increase funding and access to care, and provides educational resources for those affected by blood cancers. As a charitable organization, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society funds itself through donations and fundraising campaigns, including its flagship Light the Night Walks. The Light the Night Walks occur in nearly 200 communities across America. Participants raise money to fund research into cures for blood cancers. The Light the Night Walks aim to honor survivors and remember community members lost to cancer. This year’s Light the Night Walk in San Diego will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Petco Park.
