YKNOW. I physically cannot stop thinking about BloodyMary. Which is funny bc I was only really in on the fanart at first, the ship was wild and I wasn't fazed (I ship multiverse Steddie after all), but hadn't really caught on to it
Then I watched PHM. Then IL. And it hit me.
Oh, they're left to wander an unknown, alone, confused, and scared.
Oh, they're both suffering from the after effects of an explosion and death they had no hand in.
Oh, the person they considered an authority figure that was going to help them betrayed them and knowingly sent them to die.
Oh, they only continued on for the indomitable human desire to just live, because to them that was enough.
Oh, they put their lives and deaths into this wild shot at saving humanity because they knew they had to, because they thought it would mean they'd be saved too, because aren't they also human?
Oh, they put in all this work to just go home and they never did.
But there's the difference. One was by choice, and the other by force. Because that's what sets them apart. Grace had Rocky. Simon had no one.
But oh, what if Simon wasn't alone?
But oh, what if the Chosen saved the Sacrificed?
But oh, what if they understood each other in ways no one else could?
But oh, what if they're more to each other than anyone back home could ever be?
Because Grace knows. Because Simon knows.
They know what it's like to be alone, and scared, and confused, and broken, and heralding a salvation they don't even know works, that they don't even know if they'll survive. They know what it means to go into space and never come out the same.
But if there is someone out there who understood what you went through, who fights to understand this new version of you and still cherish the old, who treats all your hopes and dreams like they're certainties rather than dying wishes...
Wouldn't you want them to be there with you?
