Happy Canada Day, my fellow Canadians
Goodbye, 2025. Hello, 2026. Wishing everyone a happy New Year
Wishing everyone a merry Christmas
For day 6 of Jancy Week 2025, I used the prompt team and made an AU moodboard of Nancy and Jonathan as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. The pictures are not mine. I found them on Google. All credit goes to the rightful owners.Â
Nancy Wheeler was born in 1989. She has a genius-level IQ. When she was growing up, she loved reading books about mysteries. After graduating high school in 2006, Nancy and her boyfriend, Jonathan Byers, moved from the United States to London, England. Nancy became a private detective, and Jonathan went to medical school and became a forensic pathologist for the Metropolitan Police Service. Nancy is often hired to assist the Metropolitan Police Service with their cases. Although Jonathanâs co-workers are suspicious of Nancy at first, over time, her exceptional intellect and powers of observation persuade them of her value.
@jancyweeks I hope you like this moodboardÂ
For day 3 of Jancy Week 2025, I combined the prompts future and sweater weather and made a moodboard where itâs the early 1990âs and newlyweds Jonathan and Nancy go to a farm market in Hawkins. The pictures are not mine. I found them on Google. All credit goes to the rightful owners.Â

Happy Halloween, everyone đ
Wishing my fellow Canadians a happy Thanksgiving weekend
For day 2 of Jancy Weekend 2025, I combined the prompts AUs and forbidden love and made a moodboard for a Hunger Games AU where Nancy and Jonathan are from District 4. The pictures are not mine. I found them on Google. All credit goes to the rightful owners.Â
At the age of 16, Nancy Wheeler is reaped for the 68th Hunger Games. She wins. A year later, a boy Nancyâs age named Jonathan Byers is reaped for the 69th Hunger Games. Martin Brenner, the president of Panem, decides to have Nancy be Jonathanâs mentor. Nancy and Jonathan fall in love. They have to keep it a secret because mentors are forbidden from having a romantic relationship with tributes. They are able to make their relationship public after Jonathan wins.Â

For day 1 of Jancy Weekend 2025, I used the prompt AUs and made a moodboard for an AU based on the 2013 movie Now You See Me. The pictures are not mine. I found them on Google. All credit goes to the rightful owners.
The year is 2012. Jonathan Byers and his girlfriend, Nancy Wheeler, are a duo of 25 year old stage magicians from New York City. Jonathan is an illusionist. He is particularly skilled with card tricks and large-scale stage illusions. Nancy is an escape artist. She is known for her ability to free herself from various restraints and confinements.Â
Steve Harrington and his best friend, Robin Buckley, are a duo of 25 year old street magicians from New York City. Steve is a master of sleight of hand, pickpocketing, and misdirection. He uses these skills for close-up magic and illusions. Robin is a mentalist and hypnotist. She uses these skills to read minds and manipulate people.Â
Jonathan, Nancy, Steve, and Robin each receive a tarot card summoning them to an apartment in New York City, where they discover holographic instructions from an unknown benefactor.Â
Fast forward to 2013. Jonathan, Nancy, Steve, and Robin are the Four Horsemen, big time stage magicians who finish their sold out Las Vegas show with a bank apparently robbed for real. American FBI agent James âJimâ Hopper and Russian Interpol agent Yuri Ismaylov try to figure out how they did it. The mystery proves to be difficult to solve, even with the insights of Murray Bauman, a former magician who makes a living by revealing the secrets behind other magicians' tricks.Â

National food tag gameÂ
I decided to create a tag game.Â
Rules: Say which country youâre from. Make a list of foods from your country that you think everyone should try. Write a description of each food. Tag as many people as you like.Â
Iâm from Canada. Hereâs my list of foods from my country that I think everyone should try. The pictures are not mine. I found them on Google. All credit goes to the rightful owners.Â
Poutine
Poutine is a dish consisting of French fries, gravy, and cheese curds. It emerged in the Canadian province of QuĂ©bec in the late 1950âs, though its exact origins are uncertain and there are several competing claims regarding its invention.Â
Donair
The donair originated in Halifax (the capital city of Nova Scotia, the Canadian province Iâm from) in the early 1970âs. Donair meat is made from spiced ground beef sliced off a rotating cone. The toppings typically include chopped onions and tomatoes, while the distinctive sweet sauce is made from condensed milk, sugar, vinegar, and garlic powder (optional). All of these ingredients are wrapped together in a soft white pita.
Garlic fingers
Garlic fingers are an Atlantic Canadian dish, similar to a pizza in shape and size and made with the same type of dough. Instead of being cut in triangular slices, they are presented in thin strips, or "fingers". They are often accompanied by pizza and dipped in donair sauce.Â
Lobster rollÂ
The lobster roll is a dish native to New England and Atlantic Canada. It can be served hot or cold. It is typically made with lobster knuckle, claw, and tail meat. The meat is served on a grilled hot dog bun. The filling may contain butter, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, with some versions replacing the butter with mayonnaise. Other versions may contain diced celery or scallions. Coleslaw and French fries are the typical side dishes.
Hodge Podge
Hodge Podge is a stew consisting of milk, cream, butter, and green and root vegetables. Itâs essentially a vegetarian chowder, but it occasionally has meat in it. The version of Hodge Podge that I like consists of milk, cream, butter, potatoes, green beans, and carrots.Â
Maple syrup
Maple syrup is a syrup made from the sap of maple trees. In cold climates, these trees store starch in their trunks and roots before winter. The starch is then converted to sugar that rises in the sap in late winter and early spring. Maple trees are tapped by drilling holes into their trunks and collecting the sap, which is heated to evaporate much of the water, leaving the concentrated syrup.
Nanaimo bars
Nanaimo bars require no baking. They have three layers: a graham cracker crust with shredded coconut and cocoa powder, a sweet custard filling, and a chocolate coating. They have been a mainstay across Canada since the 1950âs. They were first made in the waterfront city of Nanaimo in British Columbia. They became even more popular in the late 1980âs after being featured at Expo 86, the Worldâs Fair in British Columbia.Â
Butter tarts
A butter tart is a flaky pastry with a filling consisting of sugar, egg, corn syrup or maple syrup, and butter. Itâs baked and has a crunchy top. Common add-ins are pecans, raisins, and shredded coconut.Â
Butter tarts were common in Canadian pioneer cooking. The earliest published recipe for a butter tart is from Barrie, Ontario. It dates back to 1900 in the Womenâs Auxiliary of the Royal Victoria Hospital Cookbook. Another early published recipe was found in a 1915 pie cookbook.
BeaverTails
BeaverTails is a Canadian restaurant chain, specializing in pastries known as BeaverTails, that is operated by BeaverTails Canada Inc. Its namesake product are fried dough pastries that resemble beaver tails. They are topped with sweet condiments and confections, such as whipped cream, banana slices, crumbled Oreos, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate hazelnut. They are also made in savoury variations, such as poutine and hot dogs.Â
The chain originated in Killaloe, Ontario in 1978 and opened its first permanent store in Ottawa two years later. By 2018, it had 140 franchise locations in six countries: Canada (the Maritimes, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and Québec, where the franchise is called Queues de Castor), the United States (New Hampshire, Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Utah), the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, France, and Japan.
Ketchup chips
French fries and ketchup have gone hand-in-hand since the early 1800âs, but the combination really took off in the 1940âs with the rise of fast food and drive-ins.Â
Inspired by this classic combo, adding ketchup-flavoured seasoning to potato chips came to be sometime in the 1970âs. Each chip was dusted with tomato powder, garlic, onion, and spices, infusing smoky, salty, and sweet flavours with a tart bite into every crunch. Since then, millions of chip bags have been torn open and devoured by hungry Canadians.Â
Although a quintessential Canadian snack, the origins of ketchup chips are mired in mystery, with no one stepping forward to officially take the credit. At its simplest, itâs believed that this snack was invented by Hostess Potato Chips in the early 1970âs and sold exclusively to the Canadian market.
Digging deeper, it appears that the story could be more complicated. An American company in Pennsylvania, Herrâs Snacks, has reportedly been making ketchup-flavoured potato chips since the early 1980âs. A decade later, the Heinz Ketchup company got on board. Theyâve since blended the brands to create Herrâs Heinz Ketchup Flavoured Potato Chips.
The bottom line? Although ketchup chips likely hold dual citizenship, itâs definitely a Canadian classic to the core. While the flavour tends to be scarce south of the border, it can be found in almost every Canadian grocery store. Millions of bags are produced each year by Frito-Lay, the parent company of Hostess. They are also sold by smaller Canadian-owned companies like Covered Bridge.
All-dressed chipsÂ
All-dressed is a popular potato chip flavour in Canada. It's a combination of four other flavours: Ketchup, Barbecue, Sour Cream & Onion, and Salt & Vinegar.Â
While the consensus is that the flavour originated in Canada, it is unknown who introduced it first. Yum Yum, a QuĂšbec-based company, is known to have created a variety of the flavour in 1978. The term âall-dressedâ and its French equivalent toute garnie originally applied to pizza, meaning âeverything on it,â âdeluxeâ, or âthe works.â The term âall-dressedâ extended beyond just pizza and found its way into the world of potato chips. Many early references to the flavour all-dressed are linked to pizza-flavoured potato chips.Â
An all-dressed chip called The Whole Shabang is produced by American prison supplier Keefe Group. It became available to the general public in 2016. Frito-Lay began selling all-dressed Ruffles potato chips that same year. In 2024, Co-op Food in the United Kingdom began selling a limited edition all-dressed variety crisp as part of their Irresistible range.

Authorâs note
There is something you need to know before you read this one-shot.
This one-shot takes place in the year 1995. Itâs set in an alternate universe where Steve is a popular kid but was never called King Steve and Hawkins Lab and Starcourt Mall never existed.
Jonathan Byers, Nancy Wheeler, and Adam Cartwright, collectively known as Mystery Incorporated, were a trio of amateur detectives from the town of Hawkins, Indiana. They were born and raised there. They solved mysteries and unmasked fake monsters. They were 17 years old and in their junior year of high school.
Jonathan was the leader of Mystery Incorporated and built traps for the villains. He knew how to build traps because he was in the Boy Scouts when he was a kid and one of the things the scouts had to learn how to do in order to earn the wilderness survival merit badge was build traps.
Nancy was the brains of the operation. She deciphered the clues and figured out what the villains' motives were.
Adam was a loveable cowardly goofball. He served as bait for Jonathanâs traps.
Adam smoked weed. He loved food. He had a big appetite and ate pretty much anything.
Jonathan and Nancy had been dating since the beginning of sophomore year.
April 1995
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam were at the local ice cream parlour, Scoops Ahoy.
Jonathan rang the bell that was on the counter.
One of Jonathan, Nancy, and Adamâs classmates, Robin Buckley, was behind the counter.
âHey, dingus, your mystery-solving friends are here,â Robin called out.
Robin had fair skin, blue eyes, and a slim build. Her naturally straight brown hair was parted in the middle and reached her shoulders. She was wearing a navy blue long-sleeved shirt with horizontal white stripes, tan khaki pants, and red high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. A black leather belt with a silver buckle was around her waist. A red bandana was around her neck. A name tag was pinned to the front of her shirt. The name tag was red and had a white anchor on it. Her name was emblazoned on the name tag in white letters. A white sailor hat rested on top of her head. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss. On her right wrist, she wore a black leather watch.
Steve Harrington came out of the back room and stood next to Robin.
Steve had been friends with Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam since elementary school.
Robin was a friend of Steveâs. She got along with Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam, but they werenât friends. They were acquaintances.
Robin was the smartest student at Hawkins High School. Nancy was the second smartest.
Robin moved from Indianapolis to Hawkins at the beginning of sophomore year. She was a member of the marching band at Hawkins High School. She played the French horn. She was fluent in French, Italian, Spanish, Pig Latin, and a little bit of Russian.
Robin played soccer in elementary school and middle school. She lost interest in it when she started high school.
Robin met Steve on her first day at Hawkins High School. She wasnât too fond of him. She thought he was a dumb jock. She started calling him âdingus.â After getting a job at Scoops Ahoy and getting to know Steve, she realized she was wrong, and âdingusâ became a term of endearment. Steve wasnât as smart as her and Nancy, but he was by no means dumb. He was kind. He was funny. He was good with kids. He was charming. He would do whatever he could to help someone.
Steve was popular. Jonathan, Nancy, Adam, and Robin werenât. They were somewhere in the middle of the high school food chain. Steve didnât let his popularity stop him from being friends with them.
âAhoy there! What can I get you?â Steve asked Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam.
Steve had fair skin, brown eyes, and perfectly coiffed brown hair. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a navy blue long-sleeved shirt with horizontal white stripes, tan khaki pants, and red high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. A black leather belt with a silver buckle was around his waist. A red bandana was around his neck. A name tag was pinned to the front of his shirt. The name tag was red and had a white anchor on it. His name was emblazoned on the name tag in white letters. A white sailor hat rested on top of his head. On his right wrist, he wore a black leather watch.
Jonathan held up his index finger and his middle finger. âChocolate. Two scoops.â
Jonathan had fair skin, brown eyes, and short, straight brown hair. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and blue high-top Vans sneakers with white laces.
Nancy held up her index finger and her middle finger. âCookies nâ Cream. Two scoops.â
Nancy had fair skin, blue eyes, and a slim build. Her naturally straight brown hair was parted in the middle and reached her chest. She was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and red high-top Vans sneakers with white laces. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
Adam held up his index finger and his middle finger. âRocky Road. Two scoops.â
Adam had fair skin, green eyes, and short, straight brown hair. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a green long-sleeved shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and green high-top Converse sneakers with white laces.
Steve grabbed an ice cream scoop and got to work.
Steve passed Jonathan a spoon and a bowl of chocolate ice cream.
âThanks.â Jonathan said.
âYouâre welcome.â Steve said.
Steve passed Nancy a spoon and a bowl of Cookies nâ Cream.
âThanks.â Nancy said.
âYouâre welcome.â Steve said.
Steve passed Adam a spoon and a bowl of Rocky Road.
âThanks.â Adam said.
âYouâre welcome.â Steve said.
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam gave Steve some money. They found an empty table and started eating their ice cream.
May 1995
Jonathan parked his black 1991 Ford Taurus outside of Nancyâs house.
Nancy got in the passengerâs seat.
Nancy smiled. âHey.â
Nancy was wearing an unbuttoned grey cardigan, a red tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and grey ankle-length boots. Her naturally straight brown hair was down. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
Jonathan smiled. âHey.â
Jonathan was wearing a blue cotton sweater, dark blue denim jeans, and brown ankle-length leather boots. He was clean-shaven.
Nancy gave Jonathan a peck on the lips.
Jonathan and Nancy were going on a date.
Jonathan backed out of Nancyâs driveway. He parked his car outside of the local Italian restaurant, Enzoâs.
Jonathan and Nancy walked to the door. He held the door open for her. They found a booth near the back of the restaurant.
Bennyâs Burgers
Jonathan and Nancy were sitting in a booth near the back of the restaurant.
Jonathan's car was parked in front of the restaurant.
Adam stood next to the door, smoking a joint.
Adam had walked to the restaurant. He lived across the street.
Adam pulled the joint out of his mouth.
Adam put out the joint by dropping it and stepping on it.
Adam walked into the restaurant, taking a seat next to Jonathan.
âHey, guys. What's up?" Adam asked.
Adam was wearing an unzipped green hoodie with a white drawstring, a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and green high-top Adidas sneakers with white laces. His hood was down. He was clean-shaven.
"Jonathan was talking to one of the waiters last night. He said his mother saw a monster in her house and ran off. He also said that she's staying with him and his wife because she's too scared to go back there. Jonathan wants us to check it out." Nancy said.
Nancy was wearing an unzipped red cotton jacket, a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and red high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. Her naturally straight brown hair was down. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
âThere's no fucking way I'm going to a house someone saw a monster in." Adam said.
"What if I promise to buy you lunch for the next two weeks?" Jonathan asked.
Jonathan was wearing an unbuttoned dark blue denim jacket, a grey t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and grey high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. He was clean-shaven.
"Ugh," Adam groaned. He hated how easy it was for Jonathan to bribe him with food. "Fine."
After ordering and paying for their food, the group got in Jonathan's car.
Jonathan parked in front of the house the waiter told him about. It was a two-story wooden house. It was painted white. The roof was made of asphalt shingles.
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam entered the house. Jonathan and Nancy walked down a hallway. Adam walked down a different hallway.
Jonathan stopped in front of a door. He opened the door, and Nancy followed him inside.
Jonathan and Nancy were in someone's bedroom. They walked over to the desk and began searching for clues.
Suddenly, Jonathan and Nancy heard piano music playing. They exchanged a confused look and made their way to the foyer, where they ran into Adam.
"Where is that music coming from?" Adam asked.
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam heard an angry shriek. They turned their heads and saw a large creature with a bald head, green skin, pointed ears, red pupils, black sclera, fangs, and clawed hands and feet. Its clothing was torn. It appeared to be male.
Everyone ran away. Nancy decided to follow Jonathan.
The creature pursued Adam.
Nancy opened a door and got wrapped up in ropes. She reached into her jacket and pulled out the pocket knife she carried around in case she ever got caught in one of Jonathanâs traps. She used the knife to cut the ropes.
Nancy put her pocket knife back in her jacket.
This was the first time Nancy had gotten caught in one of Jonathanâs traps.
âSorry for messing up the trap.â Nancy said.
âDonât worry about it. There's a second one.â Jonathan said.
Jonathan and Nancy walked down a hallway. They heard Adam cheering. They entered a room and saw that the creature was wrapped up in ropes.
Nancy took the mask off, revealing a clean-shaven man with fair skin, blue eyes, and short, straight blond hair. âThis is my neighbour, Henry Creel. He's a janitor at Hawkins Middle School.â
âWhy did you come here?â Jonathan asked Henry.
âThereâs money hidden under the floorboards. I dressed up in this costume and scared the owner away so she wouldn't know I was looking for it. And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!" Henry yelled.
THE END
