maybe growing up is just becoming who you were at 14 again but learning how to love her this time

You know the best thing you can do for yourself is to simply start acting as the highest version of yourself now. Bridge the gap by embodying their energy, cultivating their habits and enforcing standards and boundaries with yourself first and foremost.
With Passion.
It just takes an inch of effort for a long period of time. You get used to the effort you put in and it just gradually accelerates. I started by making sure I had earrings in and lipstick on everyday. It made me feel put together and like I could do something about anything. Even if I spent the day in my room. The lipstick and earrings were on. I felt feminine and fairy like and even if people weren’t looking at me I had the confidence that they would. It started like that, just a simple ritual and it snowballed into my life changing for the better. I wanted to get ready in the mornings, so I’d have to wake up earlier, and since I woke up earlier Id get to see the sun rise, I wanted to start watching the sun rise from outside so I started walking, then running. I found a love for movement. I loved the fact I was taking care of my body and I saw positive changes which made me want to care for it even more. So I started nourishing my body well. Cooking steaks, using fresh produce from the farmers market. I felt well enough to go out and hunt for a real job I liked. I got it. I had some extra money so I bought beautiful dresses and invested in my health and had the money to have dinners with friends and buy more books to read and go on trips whenever I wanted. The world was so small. And now it’s larger than anything I could’ve imagined. I really do believe all it takes is a little lipstick and some jewelry.
I think real progress comes when you don’t even realize it. In the mundane. It isn’t like this switch that just turns off or on. It’s a slow burn. Like when you wake up one day and suddenly you’re in your 20s when it seems like yesterday you were still begging your parents for a ride. But you made it. And it clicks in your head that you did. That’s why growth is so special. When you make the decision to become better, you don’t always see the changes, but they are in fact still happening. And one day you will wake up to the life you dreamt of and have the realization that one decision, that commitment to yourself, slowly molded your life without you noticing. And then you’ll see. And it makes everything worth it.
I’m actually starting to believe it really is possible to get through hard days. I’ve been through so many now. When I’m in the midst of it, I can recall the previous times I’ve felt this way, thinking it will forever be like that, but then in a week’s time, it usually fades away. So when disappointment strikes, someone speaks to me harshly, I get home from a bad date, I get rejected, I get left out, I feel behind, I don’t know what I’m doing… I’ll notice how uncomfortable I am in that moment, but I always say to myself “it won’t be so bad in a week, give it a week.” And it is in fact always better in a week.
cook your meals with love, take care of your self, rest and relax, stay hydrated, take long walks, pursue your hobbies, look for silver linings, laugh loudly and with love, stay compassionate and considerate, cultivate your style and be thankful for each moment on earth.
i just know in my bones that i will somehow make a beautiful life for myself no matter what the world throws at me
