Caught In Silence

You’re shaking breath in a shivering frame Arms like vices Holding, clutching, praying

Stay together One more minute Sixty seconds

You beg to not fall apart

Your body screams to fall to pieces

The minute passes The bargain struck

Tears drop like bombs Landing whisper quiet Bit by bit you crumble Blown away by a simple breeze

Reduced to nothing but Your ragged breath in a shuddering frame

Caught in the middle of deafening

See Me

Tired, tired, so tired. Exhausted, every second of the day. I’m so tired.

“How can you be?” They ask, because they don’t know. Because they don’t understand. Because to them I’m doing nothing.

And how can they know? How can they understand? They can’t.

Because they’re fine. Because they’ve never experienced the daily battle, that raging cage-match. Because they’re normal.

Every day I fight a war. Every night it’s a struggle just to survive, to not lose. Minute to minute a new skirmish rises, hour to hour the battles continue, day to day I try my damnedest not to lose.

“Lose what?” They wonder. “You seem fine.”

Of course I do. That’s what I’m fighting so bitterly for. Not for happiness, or genuine joy. But to simply seem fine to the outside world. So that you don’t worry, don’t look too close. So that I remain the only one who sees this beast I fight, day in and day out.

But I’m tired.

Tired of fighting. Tired of hiding. So tired of “seeming fine”.

I want your understanding. But first I need your acceptance.

Because if I show you into this octagon. If I let you see. You have to understand, you have to accept the fact that this beast I fight.... Is me.

Something Holy

Your voice is a hymn I long to hear Your name is a prayer perched on my lips I’m a sinner but One glance from you and I feel like I’ve been blessed Holding you is like finding a sanctuary i hadn’t realized I’d been searching for Your presence feels as if I’m stepping onto holy ground And if that’s blasphemy, well I’ll gladly fall to my knees and burn For something holy

Glass Heart

Don’t you think it’s fragile? So easily broken? One misstep and it shatters like glass

No.... It’s slower than that

A mean comment It cracks An insensitive remark It splinters Because of your cruel ignorance It breaks

It’s fragile But to break it requires time and effort

And once it’s broken? Everyone will be impaled on its shards Cut apart by jagged edges

I love the constellations on your skin Tracing my fingers over each point Watching the shivers ripple down your spine from my touch

I love the star kissed spots standing in stark contrast Pressing my lips to the brightest points

The Fall

I see it from a mile away An all too familiar hole No matter how I turn, evade It always comes ever closer Widening like a hungry beast Opening its maw in preparation Creeping up to me

I panic I trip I stumble I fall

Down, down, down, deeper still The light above slips away The greedy void consumes my form Ever endless as it hugs me Wrapping me in all encompassing dark

There I exist Not truly living Until it’s had its fill and spits out my pieces I pull myself together as best I can Missing parts of me but breathing all the same

I begin my trek to the next hole All the while waiting Craving For the time when I finally reach the bottom of one The moment when I finally impact and shatter apart completely
