Resistance

I’ve learned a lot about resistance lately.

According to the dictionary resistance is: Action or effect of resisting, of not yielding or succumbing. Refusal to submit to the will of others; opposition, reaction.

And let me tell you how empowering this is. Especially when you grow up in a small a city where everyone tells you that you need to learn how to cook, that your hair is not straight enough and you hate your hair for that, to be more feminine so that when you grow old you can find a nice husband, among other things.

Then you grow up and discover that you don’t need to be feminine or need a husband, that you LOVE your hair, your color, that get married and have kids are not on the top of your list, that you gay (who knew lol).

The thing is people will always tell you what to be or what to like. The only thing you’ll need to do is do not give a shit and be yourself.

Imaginary Self

Living constantly inside your head is pretty interesting. Having your own world is awesome. You know, where everything is great, everyone respects everyone, there’s love and respect everywhere and you would love if the real world was like that, but it is not. So you live in your head.

You say: “Fuck that, I don’t want to see the ugly world around me. I’m going to live in my imaginary world forever and no one will tell me otherwise.”.

All of this is understandable. But you know what’s more interesting - ok, not that interesting but is pretty darn cool - is trying do change the real world little by little, piece by piece, fight, resist and be a better person. You will find amazing people in this amazing journey, people who are trying to do the same and they’ll became really important pieces of your life.

So just try, maybe will hurt a little but try.

I know I’m still trying.
