After the final presentation we got  feedback on some small things to change.

We have made the video navigation so that each ‘button’ changes colour when the mouse hovers over it. Because its not a standard recognisable menu, people may not think they can use it as one. This makes it more obvious.

We have also put small blurbs at the end of the first page to sum it up more and add additional information because they didn’t feel as though it finished well.

We have also put a foot at the bottom to the page looks more summed up and there is an end to it.

Rationale

Our project was about cutting down the consumption of red meat. We did research on other health videos and chose our colour palette based on them. We realised there were three main points to not eating red meat so we decided to make three videos. The video topics were health, cost and environmental impact. Our target audience was meant to be anyone and that anyone could understand what’s going on. To do this we narrated our videos as well as having text. We had sound effects, illustrating images and friendly music. As a team we made decisions together and divided up the work.

These are the three final frames of the videos, this is how they are left on the website. So once the user has watched all the videos they can scroll up and see a small summary of what replacing red meat can do

These are the videos on the website once they have finished playing. Because the end frame stays on the website, it would be good if it was informative so that the user could watch all the videos and then be able to scroll back through the home page and see all the ‘small actions’ we suggest they do. This adds to the website because the videos already blend into the website so well that it will look good if a small amount of information was left on the website. This gives us a chance to write more information that will stay there after the video rather than have too much information in the video. I also need to change the background of the environment section because it doesn’t match at the moment.

This is a development of the cost video. We have changed some of the transitions of the different costs being saved and also made the video as long as the other two. This makes it easier to read and more interesting to look at, there is also more time to read the text and look at what the image is.

This is another development of the environment video. We have put in all the sound effects and audio now and fixed some minor details.

Website Update

The website is pretty much fully coded except for some minor glitches I need to fix. When the nav is over the videos, the buttons can’t be clicked, which is weird so I need to figure that out. Also the cost div of the video menu doesn’t link to the cost video. It looks like this is because the first section includes the video menu so the a href works but its linking to itself. Other than that its working well.

I have used a custom font to match the video font which is Bebas Neue. This is going to be just used for headings, all paragraphs and sentences will be Ariel, to make it easy to read. This will probably just be on the sources page though. 

I have colour matched the background of the video section divs to the actual video so it looks like theres no seams and it looks like part of the background.

The video menu works (except that one glitch) but I think it would look cool if I could get the colours to change of the photo when the mouse hovers over it. At the moment the only way to tell its a menu is the fact that the mouse turns into a little mouse.

Health Video Development

Development of the environmental video, no clue why the background colour won’t show up and I need to add the opening logo thing.

This is a development of the health video, the video now has a better layout which makes the text easier to read. The effects are better and we are starting to put in sound effects. This is the final version of the animatic, so now we just have to put in the sounds (voice over, music, sound effects,) and illustrations.

Still very rough edit of health video. Using all the feedback, the video is now half the length,  has much less text and has an rough voice over. Only the most important bits of information are in the video. Now the animation needs to go in time with what the voice over is saying

Development and feedback for the website:

we need to find a way to showcase the fact that we have 3 videos on the home page.

we dont need as many links in the navigation, we nust need home, facts and sources - we can put the videos on the home page and just have links that go down to each one (drop down menu?)
