house plans [Gill / Chase]
straight-no-chaser:
āAh, nothing major I guessā looks like youāre really busy, eh?ā Chase replied, leaning a little more to spy the handwriting but clearly struggling to read it from the upside down position he was viewing it from. It didnāt hold his interest enough to keep trying, being much more interested in taking the man away from his focus to have all that attention to himself instead.
āHm, ahā I donāt know. I thought you might have some free time to do something for me,ā he started, a smirk working its way onto his face as if against his own will to be enjoying the game.Ā āNothing major, if youāre really busy. Just something I was hoping to do today. But I guess I can deal with it for nowā¦ā
He sighed heavily, exaggeratedly; leaning off of his hands on the desk and dropping heavily into the guest chair directly in front of it, taking a moment to settle himself in and sink down to get very comfortable. A little more time to cross his hands over his chest and smile, fingers intertwined and eyes locked on the blondās face. Enough time to let Gillās hand be finished with writing whatever thing he might be trying to fit in that small space. Enough time to frustrate him and be sure that he was the sole focus of his attention. Enough time to build some suspense, before starting in oh-so-casually:
āSoā wanna sell me a house?ā
āAlways busy, yes,ā he replied, as mechanical and quiet as a well-oiled engine.Ā āWhich is why Iād suggest getting right to the point, if I were you.ā
Free time was really not something Gill often had in abundance, and not something he either made or gave away easilyā so there was something about Chase asking for this already precious commodity that nearly pulled a dark frown from his features. The nerve Chase had, asking for that! Gill felt an enormous sigh build up in his chest; it was everything he could do to to keep from expelling it in frustration, to instead glance up at the other man with a continued, level stare.
The final drop did little to impress him; it did, however, cause Gill to quirk a brow. Just one, and just slightly.
āYou donāt mean rent?ā He set his pen down, though his posture remained frozen in place - unwilling to commit to the conversation in full, still half hoping that it might dissolve on its own if he doesnāt pay it much mind.Ā āWe donāt sell houses to those not interested in making Castanet a permanent residence.ā
