its funny to me how warmups for instruments generally sound nice and pretty. like just basic scales or chords. the exercises i do on my guitar could be mistaken for actual music at times.

and then vocal warmups are shit like. bark like a seal. grunt like a thwomp from mario 64. now sing the melody but instead of the lyrics youre saying 'moo moo mee mee mah mah' even the scales you gotta moo mee mah through that shit and its just so goofy every time. and this is why im not a singer

My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.

Here’s an old aro meme from 2011, which was before the rise of the “Ace Discourse” around 2015 (which may have started out as backlash in response to The Trevor Project deciding to include asexual people around that time). isn't it kind of strange that personal space is a thing in multiplayer minecraft? or that people tend to looking at each other's characters when they talk to each other?

these things don't fulfill the inherent social functions they have in person. there is are no facial expressions you're missing if you don't look at the other person's minecraft character. there is no functional difference between standing right next to someone and standing 3-4 blocks away, you're no impeding them in any way

yet people do it anyway. they keep a few block distance between each other. they look at each other when talking, whether it's by going afk with the cursor on the other person or by tracking their idle movement

which gives us these moments where they close that distance or exaggerate the eye contact and suddenly it means something, because it's different! this thing that has no difference in game mechanics, gains meaning through the social conventions. crouching at each other and staring at each other. bumping into the other player. standing right next to a player until slightly nudging them

and that evolves, like real society! it's not something i recall happening that much 10-15 years ago. proximity chat likely has something to do with it, giving the distance some slight game-mechanical meaning and also making the character feel more like a manifestation of the other person instead of simply an object in the game while you were chatting on skype. it pulls people deeper into the game world, increases the immersion and suddenly we have body language in a game where your only ways to manipulate the body are the way it's facing, walking, jumping and crouching. if you want to call it body language there's also the item you're holding - or the two items, in modern minecraft. it's incredible how much of a language can be built with such primitive tools

The most obvious ones being pyro and pyro,capable,reliable guy with some underlying issues vs sad pathetic wet rat of a man who got disowned, the two would clash veryy well

Scott and Zombie,rich men who are assholes,one much less obviously than the other,both trying to get better but Scott actually follows through with it,Zombie only regresses with it(That scene with Vi he tries to be nice and get Vi more redstone stuff but starts getting mad immediately after Vi refuses to open his door)

Im thinking of more,like Legs and Clown,they can bond over THE WAR and have ptsd together(Ash is there too)

Im trying to do Shelby and Drift but mah brain has only cooked up similarities between Shelby's death(Via Veylocke Murderbox™) and Mysty's death,both didnt do anything but suffered for just being there,innocent bystanders being punished.

AND NOW FOR MY FAVOURITES:Abolish and Ivory. Throughout WhitePine,Ivory's always been kinda calm and a little unknowing of much,shes pretty nonchalant through 70% of WP and only loses her cool when its warranted.MEANWHILE Abolish 'nervous anxiety orphan' veylocke is this Guy,hes scared and hates fighting, and lowkey doesnt do much

Which makes episode 7 of VSMP and the finale of WP so crazy,because Ivory is going absolutely mad over the fire and she THROWS A SWORD INTO KANTJE And the whole time she's screaming,sobbing and crying which is the most emotion we see from her

And on the other side of the coin,Abolish 'veylocked in' KILLS A LEVEL 3 VAMPIRE AND BURNS DOWN A LARGE SWATHE OF THE FOREST and he barely even reacts(telling shelby he was on autopilot when he killed her and he says he loves the smell of ash in the morning or smth of the sort after removing the oak from oakhurst)

Those 2 feel like completely different characters in those pivotal moments and I AM HERE FOR IT
