Anya Phillips and James Chance photographed by Maripol in New York, 1979.
Above is a link to a James White's (AKA James Chance) song found on his "Flaming Demonics" LP, " Caravan / It Don't Mean A Thing / Melt Yourself Down". I wanted to include a tid bit of history on Anya Phillips, I however couldn't find an interview with her. Though, this may be due to her passing in 1981 and The Contortions had a transient but profound career from 1977-1980. I chose this single because Anya shows up as backing vocals, and introduces the band in Rotterdam before "Melt Yourself Down".
