Job: Botanist

Personality: friendly if a little shy, introverted, but willing to talk about plants to anyone

General: Hatched in the Silicon Valley (Grace thought it would be funny). Parents are Igneous and Nightingale. Nightshade is their favorite flower. Was originally studying fungi, but became obsessed with Earth plants. Their biggest dream is to one day go to Earth and and bring back as many plants as possible.

Simon talks very seriously to his plants.

Like “Esther, you have to stop nearly dying on me. Joshua what is that?”

Simon is having whole conversations with his plants while Grace is leaning in the doorway watching him with this big goofy grin on his face.

Rocky is over pouting in the corner because Adrian accidentally grabbed Grace instead of Rocky when a loud bang went off. (Adrian was halfway down the beach before they realized that Rocky wasn’t the one riding on top of their carapace.)

Bloodymary eldritch/eldritch. They’re both something else that is equally fucked up in very different ways.

Sometimes Simon moves as though gravity has no effect on him. Him moving as if he never had bones in the first place.

Grace is radiant sometimes. Like core of a star shining through his human skin. Gravity somehow shifting around him as if something much bigger and denser was there.

Simon is the marine biologist called in to study a recently captured Siren!Grace.

(The best picture I could get of him as he is always moving and this is him at his least blurry. We got him roughly two weeks ago and I decided to introduce him now that he’s settled in and doing well.)

“There’s my darling,” Grace murmured, lips pressed into Simon’s forehead, and his hands buried in Simon’s clothes.

“Always, angel,” Simon answered as he melted into the embrace, “always.”

It suddenly occurred to me that Grace has the entirety of Mythbusters on the Hail Mary.

Rocky both loves it and is very concerned.

A personal kinda headcanon of mine is that Grace’s amnesia is so severe due to both the induced coma and the amnesia drug. More specifically I think that it reacted with the other drugs used to induce the coma. Which caused a stronger loss of memory (possible brain damage) than expected.

(Secondary personal headcanon; Stratt only intended to erase about a week pre-launch from Ryland’s memory not total loss of memory.)

Idea: Offering resources to someone is basically a marriage proposal on Eden.

Which makes a first encounter with Grace and Simon ten times funnier. Because Simon wakes up and this crazy random guy proposes to Simon.

And Simon fucking accepts. Haven’t even known each other for two minutes and they’re already engaged.

Au where Ryland becomes blind before leaving Earth, but the crew’s other last minute addition, Simon, is very helpful in saving the stars.

(Simon is a little confused how he got here and not sure how to tell the only other person the truth. And that was hard even before the alien showed up.)

Ryland ends up finding a mysterious man desperately clutching a seal skin on the biodome’s beach one day.

Was thinking about what Simon and Grace would look like as Eridians and my brain immediately seized on Simon’s carapace looking like bloodstone (I mean it fits perfectly both with the name and such)

Grace has a lot of jewelry/ Eridian special occasion outfits. And he just keeps getting more gifted to him over the years.

Anything from chunky rings and bracelets from his students made with clumsy little claws in their first attempts for their teacher. All the way to elaborate pieces from master crafters whose old claws hold steady creating each link and etching filled with hope and gratitude.

Grace cherishes each piece.

Grace shows Rocky The Land Before Time (he forgot about that scene until the T-Rex showed up)

Rocky absolutely loses it about the dinosaur “pebbles” being in danger without any parents.

While Grace loves the biodome, it’s really quiet most days. Other than the waves or Eridians, there’s not much sound. No cars passing in the distance, wind in the grass, or animals calling. Just quiet and the waves.

He didn’t know he could miss noise so much.
