Almost 4 years ago I posted a video on here of my daughter because she constantly would question why god painted her so brown. The video went viral and there was so much positivity behind. I wanted to share an update! Ilicia is now 7 years old, still struggles from time to time but definitely grows more and more prideful in her blackness. This year I have been able to do ALOT with my baby to help her build herself to the most confident and capable woman I can. For her birthday she went to Aladdin on broadway, and was in LOVE with the how many actresses on that stage looked like her. As I write this we are on our way back from a three day trip to Washington DC, where we were privileged to learn more abt the truth of the African American people. We visited the African burial ground in NYC, African American civil war museum, Martin Luther King Jr monument, we took the Egypt on the Potomac tour, and ending with church at Union Temple Baptist Church where brothers met to prepare for the million man march. I am dedicated to helping my kids be the best self they can be. All of your support helped get us through a really hard stage. Thank you all.
