You will falter in developing good habits
Executive skills are developed by building good habits, through repetition.
When you develop a morning routine, for example, you can start off your day on a good foot and set the tone for that day.
You will falter; there will be days when you just can’t stick to the routine because you have to rush out the door.
You will have really shitty days.
You can choose, at those times, to let it all go to hell and tell yourself “I’m just a shithead who will never be able to keep a morning routine going.”
Alternatively, you can tell that dick voice in your head to STFU. “Tomorrow is another day and I’m just going to start over.”
Getting back on the horse after falling off is actually a habit and skill itself. You can work on it and become good at it.
