Hera ran a hand through his hair and placed the other gently on his cheek. She couldn’t remember the last time she felt so happy and at ease with him. Things felt like they had all fallen back in place with him. “I wouldn’t go that far. I’m glad you feel that way though.” She leaned into his hand and smiled. “Well, you should have told me anyway.”
Zeus took in a long, easy breath, taking her in on the inhale and leaving his reservations with the breath’s release, searching her warm brown eyes for any doubt. “All right, but what would you have said?” he asked, voice barely more than a murmur. “If the moment we saw each other again, or even the first night we spent together again, if I’d told you my intention was to marry you. What would you have said? What would you have done?”
