The weeping habit of Forsythia suspensa 'Decipiens' provides a much softer look to a border or woodland garden than some of the more upright stemmed hybrids.

The epiphytic orchid Dendrobium × delicatum (hybrid rock orchid) was covered in delicate clusters of white, sweetly-scented flowers. This plant thrives in high humidity which it was experiencing in this tropical glasshouse.

Don't tell a whole lot of little lies. Just one big lie is enough, and everything else just stays the same.
Knysna Turaco (Tauraco corythaix), family Musophagidae, order Musophagiformes, South Africa
Photographs by Andrew Vickers
[ID: Two photos of a bird in flight. It's head and shoulders are a lush green, fading into a deep, iridescent blue on it's back and the short feathers of it's wings, with white and red markings around the eyes. The long feathers at the edge of the wings are bright red, tingeing towards pink. /end ID]

Ideal for a container in a sunny location with a free-draining compost is Pelargonium sidoides (African geranium). This tender plant produces a compact rosette of soft grey, scented leaves with flowers on delicate stems.

I stand barefoot on the west porch.
The sun shines. Warm for January.
I look out at the rolling land,
And my mind runs its terrain.
Peaks, valleys, the winter grass, the bare trees.
The winter birds fidgeting at my passing.
The smell of everything resting.
Waiting.
The breeze graduates to a wind, with a bite.
I snap back and look North.
A storm is rolling in.
I don’t flinch.
I’ve seen this before.
Branches may break, the sky may shudder,
But the storm won’t change me
if I don’t want it to.

The multi-trunked, evergreen Rhapis humilis (reed rhapis, slender lady palm, Chinese fan) grows naturally in the forests and mountainous areas of Southern China. This palm is not frost hardy and grows best in partial shade and with a moist soil but avoiding excessive water to prevent root rot.

I love these posts as they are! They are wonderful!
An extra giggle for me is that where I am, the post is a day ahead. (For example, I am seeing this post on the evening of January 22nd.) so I always get to say to myself: [insert plant name]!!! The Plant of Tomorrow !!*TM
I miss whatever was in the air in 2016

I get my media recommendations the old fashioned way: by watching someone I follow on here go on an unhinged reblog spree of media related content until I eventually decide to go "alright, what's all this then"

A member of the Araliaceae family Brassaiopsis dumicola is a shrub or tree, growing to 9 m tall. The native range of this species is China (Yunnan) to North Vietnam and here it is growing in the protection of a temperate glasshouse.
