“hey now i wasn’t the one that brought you into it. i know how to keep things between me and her. so you should bring that to sophia. hopefully she doesn’t jump your bones again,” she teased, smiling at him. she’d never wanted her dislike of sophia to be a big deal, and she felt bad that theo had been caught in the middle. “don’t worry, any revenge will only affect her. promise.” her eyes fluttered shut as theo kissed her, taking a few moments too long to open her eyes after he pulled away. “yeah,“ she nodded. "actually i am. practice kicked my ass.” she reached for his hand and intertwined their fingers, giving his hand a small sqeeze. “where d’ya wanna go?”

“this is true. i would talk to her about it, but i don’t think i’m going to go near her anytime soon.” he chuckled lightly, still not believing that sophia had kissed him in order to get to marisol. it seemed a bit immature to him, but he wasn’t going to get too worked up over it seeing as mari had forgiven him for unknowingly being a prop in sopia’s games. squeezing her hand back, theo brought her hand up to his lips where he pressed a small kiss before dropping herit hands back to their sides. “honestly, i don’t care. i just hope there is more where that came from. i missed you when you were ghosting me.” dropping a quick kiss to her cheek, theo began to lead her away from the gymnasium. “do you need to shower or anything before we go or would you rather us pick up some food and take it to go?”

mariisols:

“i never really expected it to get that bad, but i don’t know if there will be any squashing it any time soon. i mean, she did kiss this guy i really like, i don’t know if i’ll be able to get over that any time soon.” marisol was still pretty annoyed that sophia had gone as far as she did when all marisol did was give her attitude. maybe it was supposed to teach her a lesson or something, but i just made marisol want to get back at her more. all thoughts of sophia were washed away as theo pulled her closer. her heart soared as he spoke, his words like music to her ears. “good answer,” she murmured before he kissed her. marisol tilted her head slightly, giving theo better access to kiss down he neck, her smile growing.

“oh no. i’m not asking you to get over it. what sophia did was really fucked up, but maybe try to keep your rivalry thing between the two of you?” theo wasn’t sure how well marisol would take hi words. he knew they sounded off somehow and he just got her back into his arms, the last thing he wanted was for her to tell him to fuck off. “ya know what? never mind. it’s not my business, you handle it how you want.” after trailing kisses along her neck and collarbone, theo placed one last kiss to her lips before correcting his posture and standing to his full height. “so, what are you up to now? you hungry?”

mariisols:

marisol bit the corner of her lips, holding back a smile as theo spoke, reassuring her that he understood. he was so sweet, even after she had been ignoring him, he still wasn’t upset. the smile slipped past her teeth as theo took a step closer. she glanced up at him, waiting for him to tell her what happened. and as he did, marisol realized how much more sense it made than all of the potential stories that she had thought of over the past few days. “really? sophia just grabbed you and kissed you?” her eyes fell from theo’s face. “i mean i knew she didn’t like me, but shit. that’s kinda intense for me just being a bitch to her.” looking up at him again, marisol shot him a smile. “but i believe you. i’m sorry i didn’t hear you out before i ran away.” she was the first one to initiate contact, pushing herself on her toes and wrapping her arms around his neck. “am i really the only one you want to kiss?” 

theo’s whole body relaxed at marisols smile. he knew he shouldn’t, but he assumed that from that small smirk, she had already forgiven him. though it may be true, he didn’t know if she’d still want to be with him. “yeah, i don’t know what’s going on between you two, but yall need to squash that. i mean she almost successfully broke us up for what?” the man was actually quite pissed that he’d been dragged into their feud, but he wasn’t going to blame that on marisol. sophia had been the one to cross that line and she will be the one to blame for that. as she wrapped her arms around his neck, she gripped her waist, pulling her closer to him until their bodies were flush. “yes. there is no one else, only you.” dropping his head, theo pressed his lips against hers, kissing her sweetly before playfully peppering kisses across her cheek and down her neck.

mariisols:

marisol took a deep breath. “yeah,” she responded, nodding her head to the side, urging him to follow her. she led them to the side of the gym, away from the rest of her team leaving. once they got far enough away, she stopped in her tracks and turned to face him. “before you say anything, let me talk. i’m sorry i’ve been avoiding you. i’ve been scared about what you were going to say, but that’s not fair.” she paused, biting down on her lip and glancing up at him. “okay, now you go.” 

theo’s small smile grew as marisol agreed to talk with him and though he knew the chance of her telling him to fuck off after he’s said his piece was still very possible, he still had a glimmer of hope. following her around the gymnasium, almost plowing the small woman over as she stopped so suddenly. before he was even able to utter a single word, marisol spoke up first. “you don’t have to apologize, i get it.”  he took a chance and stepped closer to the petite woman, but kept his hands to himself. “i know what happened at the party looked bad and i honestly don’t know what possessed sophia to kiss me, but i promise you, i didn’t want her to kiss me and i damn sure didn’t kiss her back. then everything happened so fast and you were gone so, i wasn’t able to explain. please know that the only person i want to kiss is you--i mean i punched elijah in the face for what he said about you, why would i turn around and kiss sophia?”

mariisols:

marisol had been a wreck the past few days. after spending the day wallowing in misery, she started to act like everything was fine but she obviously wasn’t. she had been zoning out in classes and forgetting about assignments, and that was just after a few days. it took everything she had to be on top of her game at practice, both to prove sophia wrong and not let down her team. after practice she was absolutely exhausted, ready to go back to her dorm, do a face mask, and collapse in her bed. but as she left the gym and saw a familiar face, it was clear that wasn’t going to happen. stomach turning, she briefly considered turning around and running out the back door of the gym, terrified to hear what theo had to say, especially after she had been avoiding him. but marisol knew she couldn’t put it off forever, so she didn’t run away. “hey,” she said, shooting him a small smile.

as soon as the doors opened and people began to  walk out, theo stood from his seat and looked for marisol in the stream of cheerleaders leaving the gym. the moment he saw her, he instantly became nervous. he wasn’t really sure why since he hadn’t done anything wrong, but he wasn’t sure if she’d actually listen to him and if so, would she even believe him? a sigh of relief escaped him as marisol noticed his presence and instead of turning and walking in the opposite direction like he knew she might, she walked up to him. “ hey. ” looking down at her, a smile spread across his lips as his stuffed his hands in his front pockets. “ can we talk? ”

ever since sophia had pulled that stunt at the lame ass party, theo hadn’t been able to get a moment to explain to marisol what had actually happened. it was clear to him that she didn’t want to talk to him at all. she hadn’t returned any of his calls or texts and since he had class and practice, he hadn’t been able to catch her between classes. the basketball team didn’t have a game this week and coach had let them out of practice early. showering and changing as fast as he could, theo jogged over to where the cheerleaders practiced, hoping he’d get there in time to catch marisol before she left. taking a seat on the wooden picnic bench just outside the gymnasium, theo waited for the cheerleaders to flood out so he can pull mari to the side and finally explain his side.

mariisols:

“mmm,” marisol hummed happily as theo pulled her close. “i think i’d be alright with that.” she stayed close for a moment before rolling over on top of him, straddling his waist. she pulled all of her long, dark hair over one shoulder, ignoring how the t-shirt of theo’s that she had stolen the night before was riding slightly higher on her thighs. collapsing on his chest, marisol buried her face in the nape of his neck, kissing him softly. she nipped at the skin with her front teeth gently and grinded her hips against his gently, more than happy to put off any conversations. “y’know i was kinda hoping i would wake up and not like you so much. but that’s not the case.” she whispered against his neck. she’d thought it would be easier to work things out when she was sober, but even then she wasn’t willing to give him up. or even consider giving him up, given that she had no idea where his mind was. but she still really doubted that he had magically decided that he was interested in a relationship, and one with her. and while she knew she’d have to respect that, the longer she could be with him before that came out the better.

it was easy to get lost in marisol and ignore the inevitable reality of their situation. especially as she climbed on top of him and lay on his chest. her hair was intoxicating as she buried her neck into his neck, her dark locks fanning over his shoulder. he licked his lips as he felt hers on his neck, a lazy chuckle vibrating from his chest. his hands slid up her bare thighs, resting them on her hips. “why don’t you want to like me? i thought we had a pretty good time together last night.” truthfully, he knew what she meant by her words--that it would be easier if she didn’t like him and even though it was probably wrong of him to think it, he was glad she still liked him. did he know what was going to happen between them? absolutely not, but he did know that he wanted marisol to be in his life, whatever that meant. “ya know, last night you really opened my eyes to a lot of things i had failed to see before and even if we don’t get back together, i still want you in my life.” he knew his words weren’t the best, but he honestly had no clue where to go from there, only that he wanted marisol to be by his side.

mariisols:

(time jump!) the sunlight shining through theo’s window woke marisol up much sooner than she would’ve liked. her head was pounding as she rolled over to gaze at theo, lightly tracing a finger down his jawline. she had been pretty drunk the night before, but not drunk enough to forget what had happened. so unfortunately, marisol knew what conversation was coming her way, despite how much she wished she could avoid it. knowing it would be stupid to continue to avoid it, marisol snuggled closer to theo and began pressing a trail of kisses along his collarbone. slowly, she made her way across his chest and up his neck, not bothering to stop as she felt him stir. “good morning,” she murmured in between kisses. finishing her path by kissing down his jaw and planting one final kiss on his cheek, marisol pulled away and propped herself up on her elbows, smiling down at him. she hoped he hadn’t magically changed his mind about her overnight and shove her out the door and the only reason he’d said or did anything was because he was drunk. marisol knew that she probably needed the alcohol to push her to be as honest as she was, but she didn’t regret any of it, and she could only hope he felt the same way.

last night had gone in a completely different direction than he had been expecting. he drank way more than he normally would, but after he and marisol came to an agreement about just enjoying the night together, all his worries flew out the window. now that he looked back, how the night had ended was a bit of a blur, not even really remembering how he’d gotten back to his room that night. he hoped he hadn’t done anything too stupid the night prior because if he had, he’d be paying for it . he felt the bed dip slightly beside him, followed by a trail of feather light kisses across his chest and up him neck. “mm, good morning.” theo peeked open one eye to see marisol smiling down at him. this was something he could definitely get used to. a lazy smile slipped onto his lips as he reached out, wrapping his arms around marisol’s petite frame, pulling her against him. “let’s just stay here all day.” his voice was deep with sleep as he cuddled her, closing his eyes as if he were going back to bed. maybe if they just stayed in bed all day, they wouldn’t have to have the conversation they have both been dreading.

mariisols:

marisol could’ve melted right there as theo tucked her hair behind her ears. he was always so sweet with her, it made her heart skip a beat. he had to be one of the sweetest guys she had ever met, and that’s what she really wanted; someone genuine. it just sucked that the timing was so off. she gazed at him as he considered her proposition, hoping he would agree. she’d understand if he didn’t, it was kind of stupid, but it was clear that they both wanted to work something out. maybe if they just pretended that they wouldn’t have to seriously talk about it and theo saw how great she was he’d want to get back together with her. “yes, i’m sure.” marisol confirmed before pressing another peck against theo’s lips. she figured that if everything ended up falling apart the next day, at least they had one good night to look back on. but marisol wanted to remain optimistic about what they were going to work out, hopefully they could find something that would actually work for them. nodding eagerly in response to his proposition, marisol untangled herself from his arms and reached for his hand, pulling them away from their quiet hallway. it was like they were at a completely different party as they reentered the crowd, but theo still had marisol’s complete attention. pulling him in for a quick kiss, marisol smiled up at him. after a moment of admiring, marisol spun around swaying to the beat of the music as she grinded on him. 

it had been so long since he’d been on the receiving end of her smile and it missed it terribly. whenever he had seen her around, he was always extremely jealous of whom ever she was flashing her perfect smile. the two of them had quite a bit to think about and sure, maybe them pushing it off until tomorrow was dumb and immature, but they both seemed happy in that moment and whatever the future held for them could wait until another day. theo kissed her back and instantly missed her in his arms the second she pulled away, dragging him behind her back out to the party. a part of him would have rather stayed tucked away from the crowed room full of drunk college student, but the other was happy to she her smile as much as she had in the passed few minutes. even though there was literally people spilling out of rooms, bumping into each other as they attempted to cross the room, his eyes never left marisol. he grinned down at her, his lower lips making its way in between his teeth and biting down gently as she spun around and began to dace against him. he wasted no time gripping her waist and moving his body with the beat to match hers. he dropped his head to her shoulder placing a kiss to her cheek and getting completely lost in her.

mariisols:

marisol giggled as theo pressed a trail of kisses across her jaw and down her neck. he had a way of holding her that made her feel loved. her smile fell slightly as he spoke. “i don’t know,” she sighed, eyes falling. she didn’t know what to suggest. all she wanted was to be with him, but she knew she couldn’t. as much as she wanted him to rearrange his priorities and put her at the top, she knew he would never, not to mention how unfair that was to him. it was hard when she wanted to be his girlfriend and all he knew was that he didn’t want a girlfriend. they could have something open, but marisol had never been good at sharing, and she couldn’t imagine anything worse than him finding someone he actually did want to date after he shot her down. she bit down on her bottom lip as she considered their options; there weren’t many. it was hard to come up with a solution that suited both of them when she wanted exactly what he didn’t. “i don’t know. i just like you a lot, theo, and want to be with you in any way possible. even if it’s just platonically.” although she really couldn’t imagine spending time with him and not kissing him. it was all a mistake that was likely going to leave them in place equally as bad as they were in before she ran up to him. “how about we just do whatever we want tonight? we don’t think about the consequences or what happens next. we take a night for just our enjoyment and deal with the aftermath when we’re sober.” marisol knew it was stupid to put of the inevitable, but she wasn’t ready to let go of theo, not when she had just gotten him back. 

theo tucked a few strays behind her ear as he listened and processed her words, his eyes flickering down to her lips as she bit down on them. in that moment, he couldn’t even remember why he had given her up before they really even got a chance. he only assumed it would be best-- that is would be easier for them, but it was turning out to be just the opposite. it was clear to him then that she still really liked him and he’d expected her to be over him by now. she was far too amazing to ever feel that she was unwanted and somehow, theo found a way to make her feel that way.he couldn’t just take his words back and ask her to get back together could he? was his idea of staying single in order to focus on school and ball really valid or had he just used it as an excuse? his mind was a jumbled mess and before he could even come up with the correct words to say, marisol was speaking again. he liked her idea and felt like it was something they both wanted--needed in that moment and maybe tomorrow when their heads weren’t so blurred, they could figure it out then. “yeah, okay. if you’re sure.” his worst fear in that moment is when they were thinking clearly tomorrow that he would be ready to pursue them as a couple, but she would be over it, having had closure. regardless of whatever his mind was telling him, he ignored any red flags and followed his heart for once. “so, how about that dance..?”
