That is the last straw. Our little sister, up there, talking to the woodwork.
lillesnofnugg:
Kajsa nodded her head. “Yes, I agree it is amazing. And I do also agree that it would be best to have our son ascend at a young age, though not too young. I think it’ll be clear when he’s ready.” Thought that was all certainly well into the future, it made her excited to think about all of it. She would bear a child that would become king one day and she would love him and cherish him forever. “You are more than happy to have me go home with you?” She asked, her smile brightening. “Well, I think I would definitely like to. After all, I have been aching to see Germany for myself.” And the thought of him leaving without her put a hole in her heart and she wasn’t sure if she would be happy enough without him. When he brought up the idea of knighthood for their future sons, she sighed. “My father and brothers have all been involved in our military, and I think it has always been a good thing. I don’t see how I could be truly against them becoming knights if they so chose to.” She smiled. “I will definitely worry about them, but I wouldn’t keep them from something they want.” Especially if they were passionate about it. “When I was a child I mostly focused on my education, played, learned how to be a princess. I would say it definitely does not compare to knight training.” She laughed. “And I worked on my powers whenever my mother was available, which wasn’t often.” That had been unfortunate, but at least Kajsa had been able to work on them now. “I think it would certainly be unfair since I have a puppy in my arms and a dress, but I would sic Aksel on you.”
“Of course, not too young. I want him to be sure of his future and of his rule. We would have a lot of work to do with him, most likely.” The child would have to study hard in an array of courses while also learning the art of knight ship and horseback riding. It was strange that he would have to assist in teaching his own children such things one day. It felt like only yesterday that he was learning himself. “Why would I not be? I want you by my side, you are my better half. I am sure more people would like me with you around.” She complimented him well, especially by how notably similar she was to his own mother. “You will love it, I promise. And our winters do get rather cold so not need to worry. We could also always venture East and see what lies in those kingdoms.” They had much traveling to do ahead. Tristan was excited to see the different cultures and royals during their wedding tour. Tristan noticed Kajsa’s change of voice, his head slightly tilting as if confused. He knew not many agreed to the trade, it was dangerous but still honorable. “Yes, only if they choose to.” Though the eldest was most likely going to need to learn. “Still it is important to learn to be a princess. They are teaching you to be a queen and that is truly a difficult position.” Reaching forward, Tristan gently caressed her hand. “Do you think our children would have powers?” It was an honest question to ask. If her mother had them and then Kajsa, it was likely that they would pass down further. Smiling, Tristan pressed both hands along his waist. “Unfair?” He pouted, knowing she was right. “Fine. I see how it is. Well I suppose we shouldn’t wait any long.” With that he turned on his heels, slowly making his way to the village.

Berlioz stood there, awaiting his answer with nervous butterflies racing around his stomach. He nodded at the man’s question, trying not to get his hopes up. “Yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing.” When he finally said that he would be happy to have him in their family, he released the breath he had been holding, smiling. “Really? That’s good to hear. That’s really good. Thank you. I’m not thinking we’ll get married right away, we’ll definitely stay engaged for a while.” He had definitely been a little nervous that Tristan would say no, but him saying yes was certainly a relief.
“Oh you do not want me to be happy for you two?” Tristan chuckled, though knew his joke would have not been taken lightly. It was difficult to joke around when he wasn’t with his friends. “I see. And when it comes time to marry, would you suppose you and Celine will go?”
celinexcharming:
“That would be really amazing. I miss them, and Ollie must be getting so big. You should definitely help, I think. Planning a wedding must be so stressful. Kajsa could probably handle it on her own, but if you give her your opinion, then the wedding becomes more about the both of you instead of just what the bride wants. And that’s good! She’ll see that you truly care.”
“I don’t know how it would be if I invited them here. It may be easy to go home, though I know Kajsa wants her family there.” It was difficult when both families were so distant, it was hard to bring them all together. “Oh maybe you? I mean you are kind of good at that sort of thing. I’ll help, but I really don’t know what I am doing.”
celinexcharming:
“I would love to be in the wedding! I was really hoping I would get to help in some way, and this is even better! And Darcy will be in it too? This is so thoughtful, Tristan. Where are you going to have the wedding?”
“Perfect, I wouldn’t want anything else. I hope to somehow get Nicolas and little Ollie in it too. That would be quite a treat. I do not know. We haven’t talked about many of the details. I am sure that is something I should leave to her, right? Or should I help, I never know.”
retrospectxve:
Berlioz already knew he sounded awkward, but he was nervous and he couldn’t help it. “Thank you,” he said, entering into the man’s room, trying not to look so out of place there. ”Your sister and I have been dating for a long time. And, during that time, I’ve fallen in love with her and she is the only person I could ever imagine being so in love with.” It felt odd to confess these feelings to Tristan, but he continued. “And I wanted to see how you would feel if I asked Celine to marry me.”
Tristan’s brow raised as Berlioz begun to speak. So this is why he had come. He was asking permission or more so, Tristan’s thoughts on a marriage. Of course he believed Celine was much too innocent and naive for marriage at the moment, though he could sense how much both cared for each other. Berlioz, while not royal, seemed fitting. “And you are asking me permission to marry my sister? I see how much you and I only want what is best for my sister. I suppose if you are both truly in love than I am happy to have you join our family.”

Kajsa smiled, nodding her head. “I’m sure we’ll live for a long while. You know, I heard Queen Victoria lived to be 82. That’s fairly old.” She didn’t want to end up like her mother had, in love with her husband and then left without him. But for however long she got to have with Tristan was what she would cherish. She listened to what he had to tell her and she understood that it was something he had to do. “Well, what is the point of you going and leaving me here? My sister will leave soon too, and I’m sure that’s not far off. I should just go with you, right?” It seemed like the best answer, the one that made the most sense. Besides, if she was going to leave the palace soon, why not make it a bit sooner? The puppy squirmed in her arm, ultimately relaxing when she started to scratch by his ear. “That’s good. They’ll need to be cheered on and encouraged.” Though it would be so cute to watch their child learn how to walk. She felt his hand on her back and she smiled to herself. “Alright, that sounds good. Does that sound good, Aksel?” She asked the puppy, hugging his close.
“Eighty two? Now that is truly amazing. I am not quite sure I would want to live till that age. What good is a frail old man? I rather our son ascend the throne at a young age than see his father dragged into madness.” That was what Tristan always assumed to happen -- the elders had always been rather strange. While he wished to live happily with Kajsa, forever, he saw no reason to prolong life if neither were healthy. “I do not want to, though I do not control you. You are able to do as you please. But if you wish, than I am more than happy to bring you home.” The idea warmed his heart, this was finally the beginning to their lives together. “What do you think of our sons becoming knights? I know it is a rather stressful trade, but honorable and surely well needed. Of course our daughters could become knights if they pleased, or do whatever they wish. What had you done when you were a child?” Tristan truly had been curious, he wasn’t sure what Celine did. “Hm. Now if I took off running, do you think that would be unfair to you?”
— F. Scott Fitzgerald in a letter to Isabelle Amorous, February 1920
lillesnofnugg:
“She does seem quite old to be still ruling, I will say that.” Kajsa smiled, raising her brows. “I don’t think I’ve seen it, but it sounds interesting. I should watch it.” She hadn’t been the type to be too interested in movies or television shows, but the one he described sounded like something she could like. She thought for a moment about his question, nodding. “It is a little strange. But in a good way. Sort of more exciting than anything.” She just couldn’t wait for it to start. She was so ready to start her life with Tristan. She hadn’t imagined loving anyone the way she loved him, and they were only scratching the surface here. “That’s true, he is like a baby.” She chuckled, shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t think he’s too upset at us laughing. But yes, I think if he was an actual child it might not be so nice.” She scooped the puppy up in her arms. “I can carry him. He might not want to walk for that long. Though we’ll need to get him a collar and a leash.”
“When we rule, we will be old as well. Well I hope we will live for a while at least.” He could not imagine ruling without Kajsa by his side. The thought of death had frightened him, though he knew it would come sooner or later. He only hoped not to meet that end in war -- as he almost had a few years ago. “That is true. And I have been meaning to tell you something. I do not want to take you away from your sister so soon, but I have been summoned back to court. I am unsure how much longer I have here, though I thought you would want to know. You do not need to leave with me in the moment, but.” He assumed that she would join him sooner or later. “I will work on not laughing for when we have our own children.” As she scooped up the puppy, Tristan reached over an gently placed his hand on her lower back. “A collar? I will put that on the list. Maybe after we get him his things, we can enjoy some alone time in our room.” He wasn’t sure what had gotten over him, though seeing Kajsa holding the young puppy gave him ideas.
chxrmingprince:
Darcy wasn’t surprised that Tristan had no idea what he had been doing for most of his life while he was off being a knight. “They focused a lot of my education. Diplomatic things, matters of the kingdom and our people. I’ve sat in on a lot of meetings.” Countless meetings, some more interesting than others. When Tristan semi-explained why he would be leaving, Darcy had to admit he was worried, though not so surprised. “I won’t tell her. I’m sure whatever it is it must be important.” He was a little disappointed that his brother would be leaving so soon, especially since they had never spent much time together, but he understood.
Tristan was not rather surprised at what their parents let Darcy do. All had known that Darcy was rather intelligent. He was a useful asset, especially in the future. “Well as much as that sounds like fun, that isn’t exactly --” How was he meant to talk to his brother? “How about we go horseback riding instead. I haven’t been since last fall, I miss it.” He shrugged, hoping that Darcy would agree to come. “Quite. I wouldn’t want to say much. There is no need to be worried, I am sure it is for precautions. I know she is with Berlioz, but I am more comfortable knowing that you are around. At least for the time being. On that note, have you met the boyfriend?”
retrospectxve:
Berlioz stood there with his hands in his pockets, waiting for the door to open. He too hadn’t ever really adapted to the way modern people dressed. He found that, for the most part, he still dressed as thought he was in the 1920s. Though, that was mostly because he didn’t want to spend money on new clothes. He could feel the little box in his pocket and that’s when the door opened. “Tristan. I’m glad you’re here. I wanted to talk about something.”
Tristan only wondered what Berlioz had wanted. They were not exactly close friends, nor sure whether friends at all. From the start it was difficult for Tristan to like Berlioz. Perhaps it was because no one was good enough for his sister or simply because they had nothing in common. “I had only assumed. Here, come inside.” Tristan paused, stepping aside to allow the other male in. “What would you like to talk about?”
artistxque:
“Oh, I see, so you’re a prince. That explains a lot. Hmm… well, you know how when you’re drinking, your body just… naturally loosens up? It’s like that, minus the drinking part. Maybe start with relaxing your shoulders a bit.”
“Explains a lot? I will not take offense to that -- I see, yes. So you think I should naturally loosen up without drinking. That’s quite a challenge. What is wrong with my shoulders? They are relaxed, I think?”
chxrmingprince:
Darcy wasn’t sure what to say. Yes, his brother could have been better. So could have Nic and Celine, but none of them were perfect. And he certainly didn’t resent any of them for it. “You had other responsibilities. I understand.” He was eighteen now and he wasn’t a child, even if Tristan didn’t see that. He wanted to show he was mature. He followed his eldest brother towards the kitchen. “Ha…yes. We did drink occasionally.” And he had actually enjoyed it, surprisingly. Both the drinking and spending time with his brother. It was quiet between them for a moment before he heard Tristan speak again. “Yes, of course I can. When will you be leaving?”
It always seemed strange when speaking with Darcy. There connection was weak, especially due to the large age gap. It was easier to bond with Nicholas, who held more similar desires and hobbies as Tristan. But with Darcy, Tristan knew nothing. "I need to ask, what did mother and father make you do? If not fighting as a knight, you must have been more useful elsewhere. Forgive my lack of knowledge, though you always were locked away somewhere.” This was his attempt at learning more about his brother, bonding as they called it. “You mustn’t tell Celine, I do not want to worry her. Father has summoned me back to court and I am meant to live within the month or so. I hope it is nothing, though being called back has only a few reasons.”
artistxque:
“No, it’s not that. I don’t know, you just seem so… stiff. It’s kind of distracting. I know, how ironic, right? Try loosening up a bit.”
“Ah. Yes. I am stiff, though it comes with being a prince. How do you suppose I loosen up?”
lillesnofnugg:
Kajsa raised her brows and laughed. “Queen Elizabeth II?” She laughed again. “Which show is that?” She wasn’t sure if she had seen the show, maybe she had. “Sure, we can pack them. And then when those ones get worn out I can always make something for them.” She smiled, thinking about the color of the dog beds he suggested. “I think royal blue would suit them well.” She couldn’t wait for the two of them to truly live together in Germany like a real married couple. They would get to pick out things together and make big decisions, and doing all of that with Tristan was even better. “That’s just because he’s still a puppy.” She smiled, watching Aksel trot over, lose his footing, and then try again. “He’s so cute. What a good boy,” she cooed at their puppy, reaching down to pet his head.
“Yes that person. She is quiet remarkable and old. I never knew a person of such age.” Perhaps in the modern day there had been better medicine. It must if people had lived such long lives. “I believe it was called the Crown, have you see it?” If not, they would have to watch it together -- Tristan enjoyed it rather much. “Is it strange, you know, discussing our future home together?” he had never thought about it before, but he was excited now. While there was not much they could do to the palace, Tristan was sure he would change certain rooms to Kajsa’s liking -- he would do anything she wanted. “Much like a baby, truly. But it is cute. I never thought about it before, though I suppose I never was around puppies as a child. Is it wrong that we are laughing over him falling? Imagine us doing that to our own child, oh that would be wrong -- Should we hold Aksel or let him walk?”
artistxque:
“I don’t think that I can take you seriously like this.”
“Oh and why is that? What is it? Do I have chocolate on my face?”
chxrmingprince:
Darcy nodded, feeling bad that he had been so skeptical of his brother. “I think you’re a good brother.” Regardless of what had happened, or not happened, in the past, he didn’t think Tristan was a bad brother. He was intimidated by him, sure, but he was pretty sure most people were. Besides, Tristan had many more responsibilities than Darcy had, and he understood that. It was so many questions thrown at him, he wasn’t sure where to start. “I’ll take whatever you’re drinking. Uh…kind of recently? Not very recently. A few months ago.” When he mentioned appointing him to his court, he smiled. It was what he had been, and was still, working so hard on foreign affairs for. “Whenever that comes I’ll be honored.”
Tristan’s head dropped, pressed lips lingering slightly along his face. He wanted to believe that everything he had done as a child was the good of his country. Though he had forgotten family was always a necessity. “Still I should have been a better one.” It was difficult to balance his studies and court, with being around for his siblings -- he envied not having a good relationship with any of them. “As you wish, come this way.” He pointed down the hall, towards the kitchen. “A few months ago? I suppose that has something do with Nicky? Did you two drink together?" But of course Darcy was old enough to drink on his lonesome if he desired. Abruptly, without much transition, Tristan said, “Do you think you would be able to watch over Celine if I ever left?”
