Hi Cassi. Will any of the Academy characters, Dru’s classmates, have an important role in TLKoF? Since some of them appear at the beginning of Book 1, like Paige and Mason.

Not in LKOF, no, as Dru never returns to the Academy during the book. Possibly there's a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead type fanfic in there about everyone partying at the Institute while Dru and Thais are gone.

I was curious about why the stakes for necromancy seem so much higher for Ty and Livvy as compared to all the other examples we’ve seen in the series so far? Aside from Jace’s resurrection, there don’t seem to be any world-altering consequences for, say, Jesse’s resurrection or even Annabel’s. Lucie also faced pretty much no consequences for resurrecting Jesse, meanwhile Ty is met with shock and anger and other varying negative emotions from anyone who learns about his necromancy, particularly Ragnor and Magnus. Is there a particular reason, like the mode of necromancy in this case?

Jace, being literally resurrected by God, is definitely not a situation where anyone would call it "necromancy." :)

Jesse wasn't really dead, and Lucie used her own power, not demonic/evil magic, so I wouldn't call that necromancy either; therefore it doesn't carry the negative repercussions necromancy does. It's a unique unrepeatable situation.

Malcolm was despised by everyone for the necromancy he performed, and also Annabel murdered him for doing it so I'd say those are bad consequences! We also don't ever see how it would have gone for him had Annabel and Malcolm remained alive for many more years but it would only have grown more destructive.

The kind of necromancy Ty did is going to have very bad results, not just for the world but for him. Ragnor and Magnus are correct to be angry/upset because Ty has put himself directly at terrible risk, it's not just a moral question — it's something that could kill people, including him. We are years along in the results of the necromancy in TLKOF so we'll see that firsthand.

I would say the only examples of the kind of necromancy Ty did, that we have seen at all, are just him and Livvy and Malcolm and Annabelle. And only in Ty and Livvy's case will we ever see what it looks like years down the line.

Ah, it means one question per ask session/time the inbox is open. I always shut the box down when I hit 100 questions so when it turns out fifty of them were all asked by the same person, it feels unfair to other people — hope that makes sense. But I certainly don't mind people coming back the next time the box is open and asking questions!

Hi Cassie. I love your books.I don’t know if this is too much of a spoiler, but I’d like to know what Livvy’s role in TWP will be like and whether she’ll have her own storyline.

Hey! I mean the whole thing is kind of a spoiler so I'll be vague. She is almost always with Ty, and he's gotten very used to her being around and chatting with her like she wasn't a ghost. With Kit, she can discuss concerns she has about Ty, something she has no one else she can talk to about. Livvy's role is really about what happens when you try to cheat not just death, but also grief and other human emotions.

i need a kitty mundane au fanfic where kit is a sherlock holmes fanfic writer and ty is his most loyal reader who always leaves the most elaborate and detailed comments after each chapter. the comments are so long that it takes kit hours to reply to them. and then they accidentally meet in real life but don't know each other’s identities and fall in love anyway.

In TDA, Kit's underlying motivations seemed pretty clear to me. He'd had a neglectful upbringing and was psychologically poised to latch on to Ty and Livvy in an unhealthy way (which then turned into just Ty). Ty ostensibly rejected him when he was at his most vulnerable and honest. Kit felt used and disposable. Then, when he had a chance to explain to Ty what was really going on, he couldn't, because Kit didn't understand himself what he was feeling.

This all felt very clear to me at the time, but some of the material released in the interim between TDA and TWP has muddied the waters imo. Saying he's mad at Ty for forcing Kit to lie to his new family. Saying Ty changed himself (whatever the hell that means). Lots of talk about "forgiveness" and not being ready to forgive. Forgiveness for what? I don't think Kit actually knows, and my sense is that he's inventing reasons so he doesn't have to go back and examine the actual reasons why he felt hurt in the first place.

What's interesting to me is that Ty and Livvy (on Ty's behalf) have both made overtures to Kit in the interim, and it's really just Kit now who has been unwilling to reconsider. So the original reason for his hurt (feeling like Ty didn't care about him) now has evidence to the contrary. My hunch is that Kit associates this time in his life with a great deal of pain, and he also associates this time in his life with Ty. And somehow in his mental space the two have morphed together into Ty = anguish. Regardless of whether that actually makes sense in the present day context.
