At an early age, Tiberius found his passion, and realized his talent. Born in Scarborough, there wasn’t terribly much in the way of acting, but when a small stage production in his school presented the opportunity and he was given a role, he quickly accepted. It came as a surprise to his parents to see their quiet, reserved, and shy son taking an opportunity to perform in front of a crowd of people. At the first sight of him on the stage, people could tell he had a gift for acting. A small production for his school turned into a hunger for more roles, and honing his craft. His parents allowed him the opportunity to learn more about acting, and never discouraged his dreams, instead allowing him to grow and in turn allowing him to pursue acting in university when the time came.
After graduating, Tiberius sought out roles in the London theatre scene. One of his first roles in War Horse was critically acclaimed and opened the door to many other opportunities in his future. It was that very role that gave him the chance to audition for a dream role as Marius in Les Misérables on Broadway after talent scouts had seen him on stage in London. Realizing that Ty could sing, in addition to act, had come as a pleasant surprise and he found himself in one of his most dreamed of roles on one of the most famous stages in theatre. Tiberius moved to New York City so that he could dedicate himself to his new role, taking him the farthest he had ever been from his family.
While in New York City, he learned quickly about himself and the things he sought in his personal life. Tiberius had always kept to himself before, personal relationships were nearly non-existent, and so when he found himself in New York City with people showing interest he opened up to a whole new side of himself. A confidence that he had never displayed before had come out as a young man far from home allowed himself to live life as he never had before. Opening himself up in this way, however, presented difficulties when he found himself in tumultuous relationships, coming to detest his time in New York City.
When the opportunity to claim the role of Marius in the film adaptation of Les Misérables was presented, Tiberius accepted without second thought. The chance at another fresh start at life, in a new city, was too tempting. Ty moved everything from New York City, even farther from home, to Los Angeles. Once there, he found himself in various roles, even some that had won him awards such as his role in The Theory of Everything. His success with acting catapulted him to roles that he never imagined he would have the opportunity to play before.
Although his success in film was at an all-time high, there was still something missing. His personal life seemed to go no better in Los Angeles than it had in New York City. Ty found himself in and out of relationships frequently, but with his rising fame, he began to realize that relationships in the public eye were infinitely more difficult to maintain than his relationships before. With a lack of privacy, Ty struggled to find a balance between secrecy, and the ability to be free in his relationships with others. Along with his growing celebrity status, came the fact that his trust in other people also seemed to close off.
With each failed relationship, Ty closed off more and more of himself unknowingly. With each loss he felt that his dreams of love and family were unattainable, and began to lose hope in what seemed like it should have been the simplest dream he had. Unwilling to give up his acting, despite the fact that his fame terrified him and eliminated his privacy, which he clung to so tightly, he found himself in a very lonely situation. Surrounded by the evidence of his own success, Tiberius could no longer stand being in Los Angeles. So far from family, and so far from anything that had ever made him happy, he packed up all of his things again and made yet another move.
Tiberius found himself in London yet again. The city had always felt familiar and comfortable to him. He enjoyed city life, but also enjoyed an opportunity to live a life that wouldn’t be completely surrounded by paparazzi. Although he could spot cameras at a distance, the attention he garnered in London was much less than the neglect for personal space that he’d found in Los Angeles. Despite finding himself in a familiar city, near enough to his family, Tiberius still found that the aching loneliness that he felt was growing into despair.
Struggling with a deep depression, and growing lack of self-confidence, Tiberius became more secluded from everyone and everything around him. The more closed off he became, the stronger his sense of reality over his loss of control over his emotions became. Desperate to find an escape in his own feelings, he threw himself deeper into his work. Acting in roles allowed him to ignore the pain he felt over his own life, and pushed back the growing suspicion that he would need to seek help before falling too far into his self-hate. Finding himself in London allowed him to toy with the possibility of returning to theatre in a way he hadn’t been able to before. With a weak, yet renewed, hope of finding relief from his real life, Tiberius looks to the opportunity of adding theatre back to his hectic schedule in the off-chance that he can find himself again.
