Coming Back For You - Reyna & Matthias; Late March 2019
Matthias didn’t let himself stop to think when Reyna had invited him over. He knew that if he did let himself think he would stop himself from stepping out the door for all the reasons he hadn’t asked her why his flirting has gone unmentioned until tonight. These included the age gap and the back and forth with her brother. Matt had a way of staying in his head, it was why he had done very little on the relationship-front since his divorce. Unlike his brothers, however, he wasn’t afraid of commitment, just particular about ... well, everything. Chewing his bottom lip, Matthias looked at himself in the mirror, groaning at his hair being a little grown out and in need of a cut. The dark blue sweater made his blue eyes stand out all the more under the blonde locks that peaked out from beneath his overgrown hair.
With a shrug he headed to the station. Rey had seen him in every state cleanliness and this was, with such short notice, the best he felt he could do on such short notice. Still, when his feet stepped into her city for the night, he didn’t head straight there. He stopped in his favorite diner for a to-go of cheesecake and tiramisu. A final stop at a corner store gave him a bundle of yellow chrysanthemums. With a knock on her door, Matt rocked on his heels nervously, trying to silence the voice in his head that was trying to protect his heart and hers.
He hid the dessert behind his back and held out the flowers below his nose, hiding his wide smile. “Good evening.” Matthias held the flowers our to her as he stepped closer, waiting for the official invitation in. After all, he didn’t know if while he had shut his dissenting voice off that she hadn’t had the same and changed her mind. The saying, shoot your shot, echoed with each thump of his racing heart and he decided to find out her verdict for himself. The door to her place closed behind him and he set the desserts on the nearest no-floor surface, not looking at what it was as his eyes stayed on her face.
Tipping her chin up to him, Matthias bent down, and leaned in for a kiss he’d thought of countless times over. He wrapped his lips around hers, applying more pressure as on hand gently held her neck and the other pulled her hips to him. The moment of truth came when Matt left her lips for air, waiting for her to laugh, ask for more, or the rumored slap for being too forward that he had yet to experience... as he normally didn’t put himself out there like this. He tried to read her expression, but there was nothing in it he understood, this being a wholly new side to their relationship.
