The charge, while expected, did make Sasuke hesitate, just for a split second. Only because he had forgotten about the wooden substitute Shingen was forced to wield since his arrival in the city. Already, this gave him a distinct advantage—or it might have, were he dealing with a lesser man.
That thought alone brought a smirk to his lips, and made him tighten his grip on his own weapons. Right. No holding back.
The shinobi waited, let the the larger man close the distance between them. While normally he would have ducked into the safety of the shadows, this time, he launched himself into the air, at what he perceived to be the last moment.
He didn’t wait, either, before he sent one of his blades spinning earthward. He had little doubt the attack would be deflected, but a guy had to start somewhere, right?
Shingen batted the weapon aside as it closed on him, a frown crossing his face briefly at the large chunk of wood that went flying away with it as it careened to the side. The damage to his weapon didn't stop him from setting himself into a squat and leaping up after the ninja to meet him as he fell. He knew he had to keep the other man under pressure and limit his options. There was risk involved, he knew, but he had also never backed away from one when he knew there to be a reward at the end.
This was one reward he planned on claiming.
