"I don't thunk we've met yet." -buddrrninja again :P
"Ah...? No, I believe we haven't!" Cogsworth dipped into a bow for the stranger. "Are you a guest of the prince?"
"Belle!!" Cogsworth shook Belle awake, as she apparently had fallen asleep while reading, and had fallen into a nightmare, screaming out in her sleep. "Belle, Madame, what's wrong?! Are you alright?!" (Time to take the sad away!!!)
Belle jolted awake, her book sat on her chest as she leant weirdly against the armchair she’d been curled up in. She looked around, tears slipping down her cheeks to see that none of it had been real. She was safe, everyone was safe and she was home. “Oh Cogsworth!” She exclaimed with relief and delight as she threw her arms around the older man, pulling him into a hug regardless of whether he wanted one or not.

Cogsworth’s face fell as Belle vaguely described her dream. No wonder the poor woman was so terrified…. he gently wiped the tears from her cheeks, giving her an understanding smile.
“Well… it’s a good thing that it was just a dream, hmm?” Cogsworth joked softly. “I’m proof enough of that, my dear girl.” He gently straightened her ruffled hair, using the touch of a family member, not just a staff member. “That sounds absolutely dreadful. Truly, though, I’m quite glad I was able to wake you from that horrible dream.”
Belle smiled as Cogsworth wiped away her tears, her smile wobbly and weak but there none the less. “Yes, it was just a dream.” She agreed as she sat up a little straighter, straightening her skirts where they had fallen awry. Belle chuckled as Cogsworth straightened her hair for her as well. “Yes, thank you so much for waking me. I don’t know what I would do without you, Cogsworth.” She smiled, giving him another hug.
Cogsworth chuckled fondly, patting the young woman's back. He truly did care a lot for Belle, especially since she had been the one to save his life, save EVERYONE'S lives. "Well, heh, you did survive many years without me, but... thank you. That means a lot to me." He smiled at the girl reassuringly. "Is there anything else I can do? Perhaps fetch some tea for you?"

Cogsworth let out a breath of relief as Belle awoke, eyes widening in surprise as she flung her arms around him. He smiled fondly, hugging her close and gently rubbing her back to calm her. Whatever she had been dreaming about, it had clearly been something quite terrifying, and he wanted to do everything he could to alleviate her pain.
“There we are… that’s the Belle that I know,” Cogsworth chuckled softly. “Are you alright, Madame? It seemed as if whatever your nightmare was, it was something quite horrifying.”
Belle clung to the older gentleman as he rubbed her back, sobbing into her shoulder. Any other Princess would probably never think to do something like this but she saw her staff members as her family. She sniffed and pulled away slightly, wiping her eyes. “It was so awful.” She told him. “I dreamed that everyone was gone, that y-you were all….” She couldn’t finish the sentence.

Jealousy
Closed starter for @theflamingfool --- The night that the spell was broken, there had been copious amounts of singing, dancing, and drunken fun. But, sadly to say, Cogsworth had ended up being a bit.... frustrated by the situation. You see, when intoxicated, Lumiere had the tendency to become a right flirt. He had been teasing and groping Babette the entire night, and Cogsworth was sick and tired of it. Day after day, Cogsworth had to struggle with Lumiere sweeping the feather duster off her feet, making out with her behind curtains, singing them in the process, and flirting with her in plain sight. Now that they were human again, well, things had only escalated due to their recent addition of body parts. Breasts and bottoms and curves were fondled and caressed, and Cogsworth simply couldn't bear to see it any longer. This was because Cogsworth was, to say the least, quite jealous of Babette's relationship with Lumiere. Every time he saw them slip behind a curtain, or when he found singe marks on the drapes, or when he kissed her... it made his stomach turn. He wanted to be the one to meet Lumiere's lips, the one who was in his lithe arms, the one who went to bed with him at night, but alas, Babette was the one who held that honor. Cogsworth was nothing but someone to tease, someone to mock for his affections, and it hurt the man perhaps more than people realized. So, after being witness to Lumiere and Babette having a grand old time at the celebration, Cogsworth had found himself in quite a bit of a funk. Trying not to kill the mood, he simply retreated to the sitting room, nursing a brandy as he tried to drown out the sounds of the celebrating that echoed from the ballroom.

As Cogsworth poked his head through the doorway, he was stunned by Alice’s beauty. Alice very rarely dressed up for anything, as she much preferred reading and such to spending time at overly frilly balls. Now that she was all dressed up, she was even more breathtaking than usual.
Cogsworth approached Alice with a fond smile, a bittersweet feeling tugging at his heart. “Oh, she really got it right this time… you look stunning, my girl.” He tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, then put his hands on her shoulders. “Goodness, look at you… you’ve got that sparkle in your eye.” He chuckled, shaking his head. “Hard to believe my reserved little girl actually fancies someone!”
He smiled, kissing Alice on the forehead. “There’s no need to fret…. you look absolutely beautiful, no matter what.”
“Is it that obvious?” Alice asked, looking down at her hands as she played with her fingers anxiously. Of course it was. This was her first real crush, and she was actually excited to be dressed up. She wouldn’t be surprised if everyone in the castle was talking about it. As long as it didn’t get back to Adam. “You sure it’s not to flashy? I want him to see me, not my dress, or title. I want him to like me, and flashy has never really been my style. Despite Madame trying desperately to change that.”
Parties weren’t for her, but she didn’t know the next time she would see this boy. People who knew little of her probably assumed that she fell for any attractive man she saw. She knew better, however. She knew to look beyond outward appearance, and view who one truly was.
Cogsworth chuckled, rolling his eyes fondly. "Oh, please. I've seen the way you stare at the boy. I've known you long enough to know when something's up." When asked if the dress was too flashy, Cogsworth paused, pursing his lips in thought. After a moment, he removed the garish fur shawl the Madame had draped on her shoulders, and loosened the collar a bit so that the sleeves draped gracefully on her instead of looking so stodgy and uptight. He also removed a shining, glittering broach-thing from her waist area, knowing that she didn't much care for all the shiny nonsense.
"There. That's a bit more suiting of your style," Cogsworth chuckled softly. "It looks more graceful, for sure." He grabbed a blender brush and also blended her makeup so it that didn't appear so painted on and clownish. "I love the Madame, I truly do, but she can't do makeup to save her life. You do well with a much more natural look. It's no wonder Adam always looked so ridiculous in makeup when he learned it all from her!" He winked at her playfully, smirking. "Much better. How is that, Alice?"
@tightlywound
This was the first time in a long while that she was actually excited for a ball. A few days ago, on one of her trips to a nearby village, she had met a boy. One that was sweet, kind, and smart, and said he would be visiting the royal family at their ball.
Alice was busy looking at herself in the mirror, playing with her skirt nervously. Seeing movement out of the corner of her eye, she looked to see Cogsworth standing in the doorway of her room. “How do I look? Not too over the top? Madame de Garderobe has a habit of outdoing herself.”

It’s probably for the best that Beauty and the Beast takes place mostly in winter (or, in the live action, it’s eternally winter at the castle). Something tells me that the falling-in-love montage wouldn’t be so whimsical in the summertime if it was ninety degrees and the Beast was sweltering hot and shedding like crazy.

Sorry to reach you all on my Grinch and Wolf blog, but would the Beast have thunder anxiety when there’s a thunderstorm if there was no eternal winter at his castle?
Imagine him puffing up like a cat and hiding under a table, quivering like a leaf, while Mrs. Potts tries to placate him omg, and he'd be shedding and panting and whining like a puppy

what if one of them was that hairbrush that Belle held up like "ok you asked me my name earlier but now uh can you help me FIND a name? bc I don't have one???"
“Well, being a princess does have it’s advantage.” She says, smiling proudly. “I wanted to get you something meaningful. Something that says a lot. You know, that I’d be nothing without you, or at least not who I am today. You taught me everything, and I thought you might like one of the earliest memories of that.”
Cogsworth nodded, his heart full of love and appreciation for his surrogate daughter. "I will truly treasure this for as long as I live. This is.... the most meaningful gift anyone has ever given me. Well, along with the opportunity to raise you, of course." He chuckled, eyes sparkling with joy. "This was truly a pleasant surprise. Thank you so, so much, my dear girl."
"Adam... I know that this particular weekend is always difficult for you, but... just know that I'm here for you, my boy." Cogsworth gave Adam a sympathetic smile, wrapping his arms around the prince. "I'm always here for you."
“Thank you Cogsworth.” Adam said, giving the older man a quick squeeze in return. “I prefer to just pretend that this weekend doesn’t even occur, but nothing I can do about that.”
Cogsworth nodded in understanding, patting the young man on the shoulder. "I understand. But just know... I'm here for you, my boy." He gave Adam a fond smile, his heart hurting for the poor boy. Adam had been through so very much.... he so wished he could take the pain away, but all he could do was simply be there for the young prince.
