Prompt #510
The land of the sleepers is plush and soft and filled with bodies of the dreaming. You have to step carefully, lest you fall into a comfortable crevice and never wake up.
Prompt #509
The columns loom in front of the cliffside, marble clashing against darker stone. The temple emerged out of the sea like a wraith, spotless and an omen to the return of gods older than the world itself.
Prompt #508
"You won't want for anything with this little trinket in your palm" the sly shop keep tells me with a wink, unaware that it steals souls by trading them for what the wearer desires most.
Prompt #507
Luck features in all of our goddess' adventures, to an almost fetishistic degree. Historians agree that she was utterly taken with the subject, but debate on whether it was a good thing or not, especially for the world at large.
Prompt #506
There are sounds in my head that don't quite fit there. The ringing of the void and the tinkling of the cosmos are difficult concepts to explain to others, but I try anyways.
Prompt #505
I know a secret few are willing to accept. The world is actually located within the stomach of a whale and is slowly being digested, one piece of reality at a time.
Prompt #504
There lies a small pile of bones in the center of town. Every day at noon, a new shard makes its way onto it, without anyone ever noticing. We all know that one day it will engulf us all.
Prompt #503
From the tinny speaker of your phone, you hear a voice behind the static of an interrupted call. It tells you to go to the old radio tower on the outskirts of town and to bring a sacrifice with you at midnight.
Prompt #492
The juice made from the oranges in the forest behind our house is sought after by the entire village. They come with buckets and vats, thirsting for the bloody red liquid.
Once the orange harvest began, it was a stampede. People came with buckets and juicers and ladders, swarming into the forest with gleaming eyes and bared teeth.
Oranges are ripped from the branches, and there is scratching, screaming and torn clothing as people jostle for the biggest fruits.
The oranges are squeezed on the spot, and immediately poured into eager mouths. It is a raucous bacchanal, as horrific as a massacre.
When they finally leave, the forest floor is stained with red, and insects become drunk on the puddles.
Prompt #502
These archives are built underneath the catacombs and were originally meant to hold family records. Now though, they hold something much more valuable and much more dangerous in their depths: knowledge of the afterlife.
Prompt #501
There is a coffee shop downtown that caters to very particular diets. Baristas will mix anything: bloody espressos, fairy dust lattes, even a mocha with a dash of souls.
Prompt #500
The hare is a bad omen, his eyes wild and crazed as he stares at nothing. When he hops away it will be a relief even if we all know one of us will die.
Prompt #499
Moving to and fro, the leaves of the glass flower bushes tinkle in the breeze. The rose petals always break each other with the movement but the shards can be used to make brilliant paints.
Prompt #498
There is nothing as sage as the wilderbeast in the sky. It dispenses wisdom to us from the clouds before moving on to the next settlement with the wind.
Prompt #497
New religions have always congregated to our town. After all, it's the only place not built on the bones of a dead god.
Prompt #496
When a demon befriends a human, it usually doesn’t end well for them. The last time it happened, the fiend was erased from existence while the woman was executed by her peers. My best friend is Lucifer.
Prompt #495
My little brother draws prophecies on the walls. Felt markers sink into the plaster in a rainbow of predictions, a child who doesn’t know what he’s doing.
