Vincent gave a half roll of his eyes in her direction and nearly choked on a sardonic snort as he frantically made an effort to force his madly racing heart out of his ears and back into his chest where it belonged. 

His gestures were spastic at best as he replied. {Where did that mammoth chicken come from?}

One moment the two of them had been making determined strides toward their destination, and the next, they had been set upon by a pair of vicious black chickens. Vincent had found no other option but to destroy them. 

And that was when Hell-bird had appeared.
