Sherlock (Slytherin) X Reader (Gryffindor)

You were getting quite upset now, your books seemed to be getting heavier in your hand by the second.
“Come on, Rabbits Rebellion! How many times are you going to make me say it?” your voice was strained by the weight of your books. The fat lady in the painting was busy discussing the latest of painting gossip.
“Just a minute dear.” The fat lady interrupting her discussion with a witch that was laying rather comfortably on her broomstick. From what you remember she was located a couple paintings down, she seemed to be very interested in what the fat lady was saying.
“Please? Professor Snape gave us a four foot long essay and I need to get into the common room. Rabbits Rebellion!” you nearly yelled
“Oh all right all, all right.” She swung open revealing the way into the Gryffindor common room.
“Thank you.” You said, very ungratefully.
Making your way straight past all the ruckus in the common room you went straight to your room. Not one of your three roommates were present. You put away your Transfiguration books at the trunk of your four-poster. Placing your potions book, some parchment and a quill on your bed. You flopped down, nearly spilling the ink, stomach first onto the bed and unrolled the parchment to start your essay.
Four feet. you thought to yourself who does he think he is.
You silently cursed Snape through the first two and a half feet before you were interrupted by the door opening. Two of your roommates came in giggling up a storm. You let out a huge sigh. They were always like this, they stayed up late talking, mostly gossiping, with each other and they were constantly together. Knowing you weren’t going to get the peace and quiet you were hoping for you politely excused yourself, announcing that if they needed you, you’d be in the library. They hummed at you, acknowledging your statement and went right back to talking to one another.
“Okay but did you see him?”
“Yes! Oh my gosh I could just die, he’s so cu-“
You closed the door behind you. Carrying your half-finished paper and your potions book you made your way through the halls to the library. Keeping your head down most of the way. You didn’t really have that many friends. You were only a month into your fifth year at Hogwarts and you felt like this year was going to be no different than the past ones. Late nights studying by yourself, eating by yourself. Making conversation with Nearly- Headless Nick, listening to him talk about how it felt to have your head nearly cut off or how it felt to not be a part of the Headless Hunt. Before your train of thought could lead you any further, you were at the library. It was rather quiet, even more than usual, which was perfect for you. It was a Friday, so everyone was out socializing, or outside, enjoying the last warm months, no doubt saving all their homework for the day before. You took a seat deep in the shelfs as to not be bothered and set down your paper. You figured it was probably around 4 o’clock so you had plenty of time to finish this paper. You grabbed a book on the effects of toe warts in potions and continued your paper. You had almost finished it when you were interrupted
“Excuse me?” you heard a voice say from above you. You jumped a bit, not expecting anyone to even glace in your direction. Looking up you saw a rather tall boy with short, curly hair and bright eyes staring down at you. His school uniform showing a bright green and silver tie. “Oh sorry, I didn’t meant to startle you.” He said, smiling. His teeth were a pearly white, nearly blinding.
“No it’s alright.” You said, gaining your composure “Is there something I can help you with?”
The boy smiled “Yeah, actually. We’re in Potions together with Snape, I was just wondering if you were working on the essay?”
You were confused by this for several reasons, one, being that you had never thought that anyone would ever recognize you from any class ever, two, that it would be by a handsome boy and least of all three, a Slytherin
You paused “Uhhh yeah, I’m nearly finished with it.” You looked down, only about an inch left to go.
“Awesome.” He said pulling out a chair next to yours. He was so swift and deliberate with his actions that you barely had time to protest “I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions for me.”
You finished your paper about 10 minutes later but remained in the library for another 2 hours helping this boy, who introduced himself as Sherlock. He seemed very outgoing and loud. You walked him through his paper to the best of your ability. However, he often got sidetracked and started asking you other questions, “Are you going to the Quiddich game tomorrow?”
“No.”
“But why? Slytherin is playing Gryffindor. I would think that would be interesting to you, given you’re a Gryf-“
“We should probably get back to your paper.”
You didn’t really know why you were helping this boy. Sure, you noticed him in class and he was often surrounded by other people, especially girls, but he never seemed to have any trouble in potions before. In fact, He seemed like he was always one of the first people to finish their potion or test. Everyone knows Snape favours Slytherin kids anyway so you failed to see any reason he had to ask you for help, you were doing well in class of course, but you never made any show of it. You never raised your hand and you barely ever looked up from your notes.
He asked a couple more questions about mermaid hair, interjecting in some questions about you
“Why are you in the library on a Friday?”
“Because I want to be.”
“But should you be out with fri-“
“Your paper. Sherlock.” You replied sternly
Once he finished his essay you started to pack up your things.
“Wait, what are you doing?” He said, placing a hand on your quill, still sitting on the table the only thing that wasn’t in your bag.
“Well, you finished your essay….I figured you didn’t really need anything else bu-“
“I just mean,” He paused “I mean the least I could do is walk with you. You did help me with this essay and all, I owe you.”
“You really don’t owe me anything, I’m fine.”
“At least you could let me carry your bags for you.” He said
“Why would you do that? My arms are working just fine.” You said with an eyebrow raised What is with this guy?
“Well then I’ll just walk you back, it’s getting late and I’d hate for-“
“Fine.” You said, cutting him off If it’ll get you to stop talking
You left the library together, your hands clutched around your book that was held tightly to your chest. He walked next to you, casually. His bag slung over his shoulder and his hands in his pant pockets
“So why aren’t you going to the game tomorrow?” He asked
“Because I don’t want to.” You said plainly “I don’t really care that much about Quiddich”
He fake gasped which made you giggle, you were slightly taken aback given that you had no recollection of ever giggling prior to this
“Well, you should come.” He said “You might have more fun than you think, you can also see yours truly tom-“
“You’re on the Quiddich team?” You asked, truly dumbfounded, You never bothered to learn who plays in the teams, given that in your four years you never bothered to attend one game.
“Yeah,” he said, sounding a bit offended that you didn’t already know that “I’m the keeper”
You looked at him, he seemed pretty slender, you didn’t fully understand the rules of Quiddich but you figured a person would have to have a bit of muscle to them to play, what seemed like, a pretty active sport. You reached the turn to go to your common room ‘Well I’m headed off this way, nice talking to you Sherlock.”
“Wait.”
“Yes?” you said, turning around
“Come to the game.” He stated
“I- No? I don’t re-“
“Please?” he interrupted
“Why should I?” You asked, genuinely curious as what his answer would be
“Because I’d like to see you there. And you’ve finished your essay so what’s stopping you?”
Damn, He has a point
“We’ll see.” You said, smiling and turning around
“See you tomorrow!” He shouted after you
You made your way down the corridor, taking turns when needed until you made it to the fat lady
“Rabbits Rebellion” You said
She opened and you crawled through the space. The common room was much calmer. You made your way up to your room and walked in, placing your books in your trunk and changing into your pajamas. You barely noticed anyone talking because you were just smiling to yourself
What’s wrong with me?
“What’s wrong with you?” asked your roommate
“What? Nothing.”
“You have a stupid grin on your face.” She stood and walked over to your bed with a huge smile on her face. “Why are you so happy huh?”
“No reason. Just excited for the game tomorrow.”
You got some quizzical looks from the three other girls in the room but you just crawled into bed, still smiling as you drifted off to sleep.

I wanted to do something different from the normal. I was sick of not writing. I hope you like this, I originally had the plot twist at the end idea but shortly realized i’d have to write the entire story before the plot twist. whatever. A part two is possible but only if people really want it. i’ll shut up now.

You awoke to a pounding on your door, you stood up, rubbing your eyes and looked through the peekhole, only the colors black and red shown through, you yawned and opened the door. Standing tall was the one and only Garnet.
"Good to see you again Garnet! What's up?" You said, smiling, rubbing sleep out of your eye.
"The gems and I need to go somewhere for a couple of days, we need you to watch Steven, it's too dangerous for him to go." She said, monotonous as always.
"Yeah, absolutely. No problem, when are you le-"
"Tonight"
"Oh! Well then I'll be there later this afternoon."
She gave a small nod and left.
You'd been through this before, in fact, you needed it. It's the entire reason you moved to Beach City. You closed the door and went to shower. You dressed yourself with no difficulty as usual, just because you only had one arm didn't mean that you couldn't do basic functions. Though people did love to assume you were just a helpless young'n living alone with only one arm. So sad.
You threw a sweatshirt on over your tank top and used your right arm to tie the left sleeve into a knot as you usually did. You packed enough clothes for about three days, you knew if you needed something you could always stop back home, normally you sleep at the gems place so Steven isn't alone. You've done this a couple of times now. He tells you everything he knows about gems and you tell him about the places you've lived and the adventures you've had, which he finds interesting but you find more sad than anything, but you leave the sad parts out for Steven.
It was about 3 in the afternoon so you grabbed all your things in a backpack that strapped around your arm and stomach to keep it stable. You had made the bag with Steven, once when you were talking about how you loved his cheeseburger backpack and wish you could wear something like it, but backpacks would always slip off of your left side and were more trouble than they’re worth. He had the idea to make one for you, you used it all the time and it was your favorite color, teal.
You stopped by the Big Donut to pick up Stevens favorite and yours. You walked along the beach, holding your shoes in your hand, toes in the water until you got to the Gem's house. You wiped the sand off your feet and put your shoes on before walking up the stairs, Garnet was already at the door when you got there. Future vision. You greeted each other and she let you in.
"(Y/N)!" You heard a voice say, turning to see Steven running at you full force.
"Hey Steven! Looks like we're going to be partying it up the next couple days!"
He smashes into you, giving your leg a hug.
"Yeah! Party! Party! Party!" He laughs
You lean down to hug him back. Just then, the door to the Gem's room opens to reveal the tall and slender Pearl.
"Good to see you Pearl." You say, knowing well she doesn't like you. It’s not like she hides it.
"(Y/N), please try not to get Steven into trouble."
"I never do." You say.
"Cut her some slack" emerges a voice coming from the top of the refrigerator "She's doing us a favor." said Amethyst, shoving the box from some fruit snacks in her mouth "The least you can do is be nice."
"We should be going." said Garnet, seeing a fight in the future "We'll be back in a couple days."
Steven said his goodbyes to the gems and they warped away.
"Time to party?" asked Steven, looking at you.
"Time to party." you confirmed
He cheered and jumped in the air.
"I brought you something to kick it off." You said, pulling a paper bag out of your backpack.
"Donuts!" Cheered Steven.
You gave him the bag and he toppled you. You used your arm to help prop yourself back up.
"Whaddya say we go to the arcade. I still owe you a rematch in 'Teens of Rage'"
"Yeah!"
You walked along the boardwalk on your way to the Funland Arcade with Steven, he held your hand while his other had his Donut. You got there and Steven took off into the Arcade, forgetting about your rematch. You walked after him, knowing that he couldn't get lost. The arcade was big but not that big, You found him at a racing game, he made extra car noises every time he turned the wheel.
"Hey (Y/N)! How about a face off?"
You got on the machine next to his and you both hit the start button at the same time, about halfway through your nose started to itch, which wouldn't be a problem with two hands, but your one was currently beating Steven. You released the wheel for a moment and itched your nose but you spun out, letting Steven pass you, he let out a laugh which made you smile. He ended up winning. You didn't complain, you liked to see him so happy. You played games with each other until the sun started to set.
"We should head back soon, Steven."
"Awwwww"
"Don't be sad, we can come back soon, plus I think we are long overdue for some hot chocolate and a movie."
"Yeah! Hot chocolate!"
You got back to the house just before dark, you made some hot cocoa and Steven got the movie. You and Steven gathered all the blankets in the house and layed against lion, who was sleeping, making a blanket nest. Per the usual you sat down to watch it and the second Steven finished his cocoa, he was asleep. You carried him to bed and tucked him in, his pajama shirt lifted to reveal his gem. You looked at it and sighed. You covered him with his blanket and turned out the light, making your way to the couch where you slept.
"Morning (Y/N)!" shouted Steven. You opened your eyes to see a dressed Steven carrying a bowl of cereal. "Wakey wakey!"
You let out a small groan when you sat up. That couch wasn't the comfiest but you did it for Steven.
"Morning? Did you make me breakfast?"
"This isn't just 'breakfast', its together breakfast"
"Ah yes of course."
You ate your together breakfast, well, together. and once that was done, you changed into your clothes for the day and found Steven playing his ukulele on the kitchen counter.
"Okay, what are the plans for today? You thinking, movie, arcade, swimming or maybe some good old fashion fair games."
"I was thinking I could hang out with Connie today, if that's alright with you." said Steven, looking down
"Of course! Whatever you need I'll be right here, I promise." you said.
"Okay, I'm gonna go call her now." he said, laughing and running off. You almost finished cleaning up the mess from Stevens together breakfast when Steven came running around the corner.
"She's here!"
"Okay! Well don't eat too much, I'm making your favorite tonight."
"Okay!" He said.
"Hi miss (Y/L/N)" said a small voice from the door.
"Connie, it's just (Y/N). How are you?" you asked
"Good." she replied
"Okay we're leaving! Byeee!" said Steven, grabbing Connie by the arm and running out the door.
"Byeeeee" you called after them
Once they had left you started to just overall pick things up. You cleaned the kitchen, wiping down the counters and the top of the refrigerator where Amethyst normally sat. You made Stevens bed and organized his sleeping companions the way he showed you.
Once everything was done, you grabbed your backpack and went out to get groceries for dinner.
While you were getting groceries, your phone rang.
-STEVEN :)-
"Hello?" you said, now pushing the grocery cart with your stomach
"Hey (Y/N), I'm gonna be home in 10 minutes."
"Okay, I'm at the grocery store now, I'll probably be back before you"
"Doubt it" He taunted
"Wanna bet?"
"Loser makes sundae for the winner"
"Deal, race is on squirt"
You heard a distant 'see ya later Connie!' and then your screen showed
-END OF CALL-
You finished up and checked out, making your way back to the gems' as fast as you could without breaking any items in the bag.
You walked in the door to find Steven, on the floor, pretending to be asleep. He pretended to wake up.
"Oh" He fake yawned "I thought you'd never get back. I win"
You could see he was out of breath, he must have just got there before you.
"Looks like I'm making you that sundae."
"Yeah!"
"Not before dinner. Wanna help?"
Together you made dinner and ate, you made Steven a sundae with extra caramel and an extra cherry on top.
You watched an episode of 'crying breakfast friends' that Steven had taped and then it was time for Steven to go to bed. Right as he was about to get tucked in the warp pad lit up the room.
"They're back"
That was fast you thought.
Steven jumped up and hugged all of them.
"Well, I guess it's time for me to go, have a good night guys!"
Steven, Garnet and Amethyst waved goodbye while all you got from Pearl was a distrustful stare.
You grabbed your bag with your clothes in it and left.
"What's her deal anyways." Pearl whispered to Garnet "She never wants any money, or any thanks at that. She really gets nothing out of staying here. Even humans aren't that weird"
Garnet shrugged and proceeded to pick up Steven and take him to bed.
You got home and went to the bathroom, you turned on the shower. They had come back before Steven could tell you more about Gems. You sighed and took off your top, you looked at where your left arm would be and at the outermost part of your shoulder was a large teal stone that stared back at you with a distorted version of your face.
"It will be fun! "Y/N" I promise, just a small party. No one should spend new years eve alone."
"I won't be alone" You said, "I'll have my book! and don't underestimate the companionship that a whole season of Doctor who can bring."
"You have to go outside, you can't stay inside forever, Get some fresh air in those lungs!" Your roommate hit your stomach.
"There is plenty of air inside the house thank you."
"Here, I will offer you a deal, You go to the party-"
"I'm not liking this so far."
"Shut up. I'm not done, and I will buy you three new books next time we go to the store."
"Six."
"Three."
"Five?"
"Three."
You groaned and your roommate cheered. You showered and decided to at least make an effort to look nice, you threw on a dress and black leggings, The dress was black on top and floral on the bottom. You winged your eyeliner and put on your reddest lipstick. You grabbed your over the shoulder bag and a black coat that was more of a cloak than a coat. Walking out into the living room you found your roommate also in a dress. She looked good and so did you.
"Ohh meh gawwd, HAWWTTIEE ALLERRRTTT" she shouted obnoxiously
"Shut up"
"At least try to have fun, start the new year off with some friends."
"I won't know anyone there."
"You'll know me, and Mary is going. At least try to have fun."
You flashed a very forced smile.
"That's the spirit!"
You hopped in your friend's car and listened to the latest song of your favourite artists Christmas single, despite the fact that it was no longer Christmas, that was no excuse to not listened to good music.
The house was big, the yard was bigger, at least 5 acres of grassland surrounded the house. There were a couple people outside nearing a fire, most people had bottles of beer or soda in their hands as they all engaged in what looked like small talk. Granted, it did not look as appealing as your book at home but you just thought of the very expensive book you were going to make your roommate buy for you.
You pulled up to the house and your roommate immediately ran off to greet the people outside. You sighed and walked up next her making small talk with everyone she met. You both made your way inside. You saw Mary and walked up to her, separating from your roommate for the first time. You greeted her with a hug and noticed her very large baby bump.
"Looks, like I've missed a lot? Care to fill me in?"
"Grab a drink and take a seat, it's a long story."
You smiled grabbed a soda and sat down on the couch with Mary as she told you about John and everyone and everything.
"Is John here? I'd love to meet him."
"He's running a bit late, he's trying to drag his old roommate here with him."
I can relate
You sat and talked a while longer. it was around 10 so you knew you had to be here at least 2 more hours. You stepped outside and walked around to the back of the house and took a seat on the grass, watching the moon rise into the sky. No one was around and all the tables and drinks were set up in front. The only person back there was you, and that's how you liked it. You wanted to walk down the hill to where there was a cute little pond and just sit there, away from people and noise but you knew better than that. So you stayed put. It was a rather comfortable temperature outside with a couple of gusts of wind here and there that you breathed in from time to time. Your hair blew back from your face which was nice.
You decided to get up, realizing someone may have noticed your absence. You walked around the house to the front and went inside, vowing to yourself that you would go down to the pond before you left for the night.
"Where have you been? I haven't seen you in like 45 minutes?" asked your roommate
"Just, being sociable." You lied
"Well-"
"Y/N!" called Mary from across the room. "I've been looking for you!"
You told your roommate you'd be right back.
"This is John" said Mary, gesturing to the man beside her.
"I'm (Y/N)" you said "Any luck with getting your roommate here? Took me 15 minutes of convincing and a promise of three new books" you laughed
"Took me 30 and a pack of cigarettes." Said a voice coming from behind you.
You turned, sticking out your hand, accidentally hitting the man in the stomach."
"I- I am so sorry I didn't mean to-" You were interrupted with a hand in the air and an 'it's fine' coming from the hunched over man. You turned and walked away of embarrassment and went to talk to other people.
You made small talk with people until around 11:45, you needed a break. You found your way outside which was mostly empty, everyone else was most likely gathered around the telly waiting for the new year. There was really only one place you wanted to be.
You walked around to the back of the house and made your way down the hill to the small pond. It reflected the moonlight perfectly. There was tall grass surrounding the pond with rocks around the plants. You sat on a rock, taking off your flats you dipped a toe in the pond. The ripples dispersed throughout the water and you took notice of some fish minding their own business in the water. You let out a small giggle and put your feet on a nearby rock. The moon was now high in the sky, was nearly full and very bright. You sat there, happy that you could make your way down here. You pictured being able to read here and how relaxing it would be. You rested your head on your hand looking out into the open fields that was the yard of, whoever's house you were at. You closed your eyes and took in the silence.
"Excuse me?" You heard a voice from behind you
It startled you so much you fell, nearly into the pond but landed safely next to it.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to-" Sais the voice
You raised your hand and made your way onto your feet. "It's okay, a little dirt never hurt anyon- oh dear" You were face to face with the man you sucker punched earlier.
"Look," You said "I am so sorry, I'm not really good at parties and it-"
"Shouldn't you be inside with everyone else?" He cut you off.
You glanced into the window and saw everyone, as you expected, gathered around the telly. "That's...not really my scene."
"We should start over." He said "Sherlock."
"Gesundheit" You replied.
He laughed, "No, my name. it's Sherlock"
"Oh gosh I'm sorry. umm, I'm (Y/N)"
"Nice to meet you."
You look at him for the first time, his face toward yours, and not looking at the ground. He was rather handsome. He had high cheekbones and curly black hair.
A muffled countdown came from inside the house.
"Well" you said, "I'd better get back inside." You patted the dirt off your dress.
Sherlock extended his arm and you took it. You walked inside right as the countdown reached zero, there was a loud cheer and some people kissed each other.
"Happy New Year." Said Sherlock, looking at you.
"To you as well." you said, looking back, smiling sincerely for the first time all night.
"Sherlock!" You said, hand on hip, standing in your shared flat.
He sighed and look up from the screen, he flashed a fake smile, "Yes dear?"
"You promised." You said, gesturing to your nice outfit.
"What did I promise?"
You throw your hands up in frustration "The movie! Remember? Dinner and a movie. A date."
"Yes, Of course I remember." He said making his way onto his feet. His hair disheveled and his robe hadn't been washed in what smelled like a week. "I'll be ready in 5 minutes"
"No you won't, you're a horrible liar."
"I'm a great liar!" He said starting toward the bathroom door.
"I can see right through it dear." You said turning around to meet his eyes.
He got halfway into the bathroom before turning around in place, his head peeking out through the bathroom "Well, I suppose that's why I'm dating you then" He winked and you heard the shower turn on.
You had been excited to see this movie since the commercials started playing it. Technically, sure, it was a kids movie, but the animation looked stunning and it looked like it had a great story line. So you made Sherlock promise, whether he remembered, well, that was on him, to take you to dinner and a very late night movie.
The shower handle squeaked and you heard footsteps walking around the bathroom. a couple of minutes later Sherlock emerged, suit and all, his hair still wet but it would eventually dry out.
"Does this suit make me look fat?" Asked Sherlock, flashing you a smile an twirling around.
"You look great dear, now let's go." You laughed and took his arm and nearly dragged him out the door "We are going to be late for dinner."

Dinner was amazing but the movie was really all you could think about it. You were in the cab on the way to the theater
"What's this thing called again?"
"Big Hero 6, it's an animated film"
"Oh. Great"
"Wow Sherlock, I can actually taste the sarcasm in the air. You'll like it. I have a feeling"
"We'll see about that."
You got to the theater, got popcorn and a water and headed into the theater. You talked a little while and ended up in a competition with each other during the pre-movie trivia. Each one correctly answered was a point. Each incorrect answer, lost a point. You won, 18-4 Sherlock wasn't big into movie trivia.
"What do you demand as a prize then?" He asked.
You leaned over and kissed him. "I think I'll just take that." He smiled and leaned in for another kiss but you turned your head and giggled
"That's just rude" He said, in a hushed voice
"Hey, I won remember? Hush, the movie is starting."
The theater darkened and the Disney logo showed up. You heard Sherlock groan rather loudly.You nudged his arm, which resulted in him letting out a small 'ow' and a whispered "There's no one else here!"
You didn't notice that but it didn't matter you wanted to see this movie in its full glory.
When the movie was almost over and your head was placed on Sherlock's shoulder with his arm wrapped around you, you glanced up at him and saw him crying. You wanted to laugh and say 'I told you you'd get into it.' but you restrained. For it was a rather sad part of the movie.
Once it was all said and done you and Sherlock walked out hand in hand to the flat that was only a couple blocks away. It was very dark but you had him there so there was no fear.
