Alistair be so for real with me, did we have a third kid I somehow knew nothing about
Hey, if I'd been pregnant you'd have been the first to know, believe me.
Considering I Can't Do That, I'd sure fucking hope so.
Alistair be so for real with me, did we have a third kid I somehow knew nothing about
What the Hell is going on over there ?
@starswears said : " oh man, where do i begin? " from Sonic...
“ I mean. The beginning probably. Or, at least as far back as you can remember I guess, I don’t know. I’ve never run into anyone in your situation before… “ That wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t entirely the truth either. Her issue was less fragmented realities and more completely separate, different ones. She could go to bed a 40 year old elvhen warrior and wake up a 22 year old with a race car and a crazy man with a weird hat for a friend… But this guy, just from what she heard offhandedly, had a bit of a different issue. And considering they were both currently stuck in a bit of a nowhere timeline, what better way to burn out the invisible timer they were probably both on before she is spat out on the shores of some sort of farming island than to try to swap stories?
“ Or uh, we can just talk about something entirely different, if you’d rather not try to talk through the time stream with a stranger right now. “
WELL, THAT'S REASSURING - she sounded like someone who'd know her stuff when it came to this, so to hear she'd never seen anything like it.. well, it just figures, doesn't it? That's fine. Just all the more reason to.. figure it out. Which he's already doing, and has done before, so it's no big deal really. Thankfully that line of reasoning is tried and true enough that when he blinks, they slightly far away look he'd gained vanishes.
"NAH, IT'S FINE - I appreciate the advice. Or, well, that you tried to give it. Really. It's a weird situation. To make a long story short, there was this.. gem - one of the really powerful ones - and it shattered. And when it did that, it sorta shattered reality with it. So, I just gotta find all the shards and put it back together, and then everything'll be fine. Nothing I can't handle!"
HE FLASHES A SMILE, the picture of confidence. It can't be much different than that time he'd dealt with the Time Eater. He's got it under control.
"WHAT ABOUT YOU? If.. you wanna talk about the time stream with a complete stranger, of course."
" Oh that-... That is drastically less complicated than what I was expecting. " The blonde blinks away her surprise, slouching her shoulders a bit. At least it seemed fixable ! That had to be easier than trying to pull on the threads of reality.
" You know, you'd think people would've learned to just leave the big powerful rocks and shit alone by now. That stuff never ends well. "
Eolas choked on a laugh, brushing it off as just clearing her throat. " What about me ? Heh, boy, that's a loaded question. I actually have no fucking idea. I bounce around so much, so frequently, that I literally have no grasp on when or where these days. Everything's just, blurry. Hell, I could sneeze and leave you hear alone and wake up in the middle of a bloody war if I'm not careful. "
All of that was said,,, far too casually. The elf had the air of someone who stopped caring about what happened to her several years ago.
" Honestly, it's only here in this, what, nowhere zone ? Null space? that I even have a clear idea of Who I Am. "
These order meetings are quite possibly the only time Eolas gets to casually tear holes in the composure of her fellow Jedi under the guise of a simple string of questions. So of course, she took full advantage of that. As always.
Thank the stars Rook was off probably getting into trouble and dragging Kira with her. " Unfortunately yes. He's a regular class bastard if you truly want my input. "
One must be deliberate with their words... Yes. That is definitely a rule she knows. Mmhhmm. The woman tucked her arms behind her back as they walked, masking her amusement at Obi-Wan's all too serious demeanor.
This was Master Qui-Gon's former student ? Oh she had to crack this guy.
" Oh please do, I could use the entertainment. "
"Oh, but of course. There's nothing I value more," he grins at her. Unrepentant, not facetious— there are few things more refreshing than someone who is willing ( and able ) to speak their mind without the frills and filters of etiquette and diplomacy. The opportunity to be frank rather than to demonstrate decorum is rare.
"His family is royalty, of some sort." Oh, Obi-Wan doubts he has ties to them, per say, but to have any knowledge of them at all is still a rare thing amongst the Order. "He carries himself as if it's in his blood. I get the impression that he doesn't care for dealing with us lesser folk."
He's sure he got along swimmingly with Master Dooku, back in the day. And, at present, it's nothing that can earn him any sort of reprimand from the Council; still, the man is decidedly pompous.
"He doesn't leave the Temple very often. Good news for you, I'm sure. I've heard the Council keeps you rather occupied elsewhere."
" Ah, a man better suited for the Coruscant planning rooms then ? " Eolas clicked her tongue, shaking her head as they walked. She's been in those very room too much in her life time, and if she never has to go back again, it'll be too soon. " The highfalutin attitude of a man fed from a silver spoon, with a dash of a god complex because the universe decided he could hold a laser sword. "
The master held the rest of her aimless scolding for the next council meeting. Obi wasn't someone she had any qualms with, in fact, she'd really only heard good things! Though, that comes free with the bloodline, one can guess.
" Ah yes, my lovely diplomatic missions. " That entire sentence sounded so strained, like she was swallowing back sarcasm with molasses as a chaser. " I will be honest with you. Obi-wan, it's pissing me off. I have two padawans of my own that I should be training ! Not running around like the Force's favourite kriffing errand boy. "
@timestcpper liked for a starter / rook & eolas
When Eolas had asked ( nearly insisted, really ) that Rook accompany her on a little trip to get away from the endless rebuilding efforts they've been expected to lead, they'd been thrilled. They're going to do so much shopping, and hit the beach - a beautiful, non-Blighted beach, thank the Maker - and— wait, what do you mean it's a camping trip? Rook already goes camping all the time. It's at least 80% of what the Wardens do. Their look had been nothing short of utterly betrayed when Eolas had shoved a backpack into their arms and told them to pack light.
They still look a little betrayed even now, hiking dutifully in the Warden-Commander's footsteps through the Eluvian.
"Remind me again how this counts as a vacation?"
" Easy. It's far from any of OUR problems. See Rook, I did a whole lot of on foot traveling while the rest of the world was dealing with the inquisition, showed me a hell of a lot of places that just, disappeared from the modern age map. " Eolas sounded all too pleased with herself, adjusting the pack on her shoulder. She had a feeling Rook would be initially displeased, most people used to sleeping in the dirt would be ! But the actual sight they stepped out into was not the usual one.
" Welcome, Rook, to the only place I ever got any kind of actual rest. No recruits on my ass, no blight making the dirt smell acrid... Oh, and a little beach about an hour's trek south. "
The elf grinned, and motioned forward with her head, letting Rook get ahead of her. " I'm not a complete killjoy, Da'len. "
@sunoflegend said : " Fear me, if you dare. "
Eolas was used to looking up at most things. Way up even... But this was just obnoxious. She almost felt like she should scale the nearest cliff just to have a fighting chance at communicating without shouting the whole time ! Buuuut, Liara got really mad at her the last time she did that; ' Commander Shepard, you're not a rat. Shepard, please stop treating yourself like you treat the MAKO. ' and other assorted frustrations of a similar nature came to mind. So, she just dug her boots into the ground, and put a hand over her eyes to try and get a clear view.
" I fear tearing my damn vocal chords more than I fear you at the moment if I'm honest ! "
The commander tossed her hands up, motioning vaguely. She has GOT to get her jetpack thingy fixed... "Don't get me wrong, I'm a little afraid of just about everything, but you gotta admit ! This is an incredible inefficient way of conversing ! "
@sungtales said : " I hope I'm not interrupting anything. " From Cas...
The elf looked up from her table for only a second before she decided company was more interesting than the war map she'd spent the past 3 hours mulling over. " Oh, gods no. Please do, interrupt me all you'd like. Andruil knows if I stare at this shoddy old thing any longer, I'm gonna see it in my dreams. "
Eolas rounded the table, brushing hair away from her vision. She'd locked herself away in here to try and create a template of a path for Rook ! It's not her fault everything in Thedas was completely fucked.
" What can I do for you, Inquisitor- Er, Caspian ? Sorry, force of habit I guess. I was very used to writing you missives. Face to face ? Not so much. "
@sungtales said : [ 𝒔𝒎𝒔 📲 ] trying to figure out how to work alvin and the chipmunks into my daily routine , thoughts ? From Cas.
[txt:Casper] I'm sorry. You're trying to do what ? [txt:Casper] Like ? The movie ? or is there something you need to tell me ?
Eolas stared at her phone, gnawing on the inside of her cheek. Yeah sure, she could leave the rest of those dishes for later. That, or they'd become Alistair's problem. Either way, she walked away from her kitchen and fell over the side of her couch.
[txt:Casper] God the last time I watched that film, I was still in active active service.
[txt:Casper] I should see if I can rent it from somewhere... Force Rook to watch it.
@sungtales said: " If he’s willing to pay for it, he’s going to get it ! " from Ace...
Jedi didn't usually make a habit of teaming up with smugglers. Key word: Usually. Eolas, Rook, and Kira needed a way off of Coruscant, and Ace seemed to agree to that just a little too quickly. Though, there really isn't any valid reason past that point as to why they're still willingly aboard Ace's ship.
" Sometimes I really can't tell if you are speaking of a shipment or a hit. "
The intrigue was there though, both in the captain and his outlandish string of jobs and side quests... The jedi rounded the chair she had been leaning against and took a seat, resting her chin in her palm.
" Care to enlighten me ? "
THE CAPTAIN MERELY RAISED HIS SHOULDERS IN A SHRUG. "Does it really matter ?" And usually he didn't do business with Jedi. Not because he didn't like Jedi , he thought they were fine , but it really wasn't every day that you met a Jedi. Lo and behold , now he has three in his ship. This also isn't usually the business he does. He was used to smuggling goods and getting rid of people that needed to get rid of. He wasn't used to being a glorified taxi. "A job's a job and credits are credits."
THOSE ARE WORDS HE'S LIVED BY FOR A LONG TIME. Though , the longer Eolas and her gaggle of kids were around , the more he questioned that. If only because there was a small part of him that wanted to impress her , and being a smuggler certainly isn't the most impressive of careers.
ACE WATCHED HER AS SHE MADE A MOVE to sit down , an eyebrow raising. "You sure you want to know ?" He wasn't sure if she would snitch , but he really didn't feel like finding out. An eyebrow raised at her skeptically. "Are you asking because you're actually curious about my line of work , or are you looking for some blackmail material for later ?"
" Black mail ? Me ? Surely not. " Eolas crossed a leg over the other, and then crossed her arms with an offended look on her face. " That is a skill reserved for politicians, thank you very much. "
The jedi relaxed a bit after her pretend offense grew stiff, leaning back in the chair. He had every valid reason not to tell her anything, truth be told. Usually, telling the galaxy's favourite boy and girl scouts anything involving shady deals, or contraband smuggling was a very very bad idea.
However, luckily for Ace. Not only was Eolas no snitch, she was also constantly toeing the line between being the force's favourite princess, and being kicked out of the order for insubordination... This was a gift she was bestowing upon her two padawans too, much to everyone on Tython's displeasure.
" Hit me. It'd be better if someone else knew what the fuck you were doing in case you needed a quick rescue, wouldn't it ? It simply makes sense. "
