URGENT FUNDRAISING FOR BREAST CANCER SURGERY

I am genuinely sorry for this, but my sister is dying. (I am redoing this entire post because despite the almost 13k notes, not enough help is coming. I have been posting/reblogging for almost 8 months to gather enough funds for her medication and now a much-needed surgery, but the fundraising post remains quite stagnant.) If I could only ask for your permission one by one, I genuinely would, but I am afraid of the possibility that Tumblr may consider our plea as spam. Also, if any of you want an even more elaborate explanation about her medical condition, kindly look into this account's pinned post or you can message me directly because Tumblr flagged the pinned post as "sensitive content" after attaching proof of how extremely disfigured her right arm/body is. At times, it is also kept hidden so not everyone is receiving a notification even after being repeatedly tagged. So, please understand.

My older sister's health has declined drastically since the last week of December 2024, which is why I decided to take over this account as per her request. We never intended to resort to asking for monetary assistance online but we still don't have the funds to get her through. As I have mentioned above, you can look into this account's pinned post to see how deformed her right hand was (if you needed the not blurred one, please let me know because I cannot possibly upload the actual picture because her account might end up getting taken down) plus it can be quite graphic.

The entirety of her right arm was not only swollen, but blood kept seeping out of her knuckles, her palm, and her elbow. Protruding tumors/swelling have reached both of her breasts, too, and are affecting her shoulder/shoulder blades and even her spine, and now her neck. As I have said, please reach out to me if you want to see more proof/health updates because I cannot post the photos here as they are somewhat too graphic. There's a lot of blood loss.

If you could, please take some time to read her pinned post—please do. If you cannot donate, a reblog will still be highly appreciated. We need all the help we can get. I recently just turned 18, and am only working part-time jobs trying to keep our family afloat, and what I am earning is not enough to take care of my older sister and our paralytic mother. The hospital could stop providing treatment at any time if we cannot put together the amount we owe them and the amount needed to outsource some of the medication that their in-house pharmacy cannot supply. It is a matter of life and death so I am begging all of you to please consider helping us. Help us get through this, please.

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.

James Gurney is an absolute master and gives really good clarity on colour techniques. Yes, it is traditional paint focused, but the principles are the same. Yes it is informed by the environmental colour but as a painting technique it is achieved this way!

I would also suggest that in digital processing, rather than apply a regular colour layer at a mid opacity, try out the different types of layers, Eg. Screen or Multiply. This can give you at least a starting point to help direct your colour palette.

Layer Blend Modes are so so so important to working in digital art. There's a ton of math that goes into figuring out how the layers should blend together, which is why some of the modes you can pick are literally called Multiply, Add, Divide, and Difference (that's subtraction). The graphics software takes the color values of your base and blend layers and runs a calculation to get your resulting layer appearance. The ones that don't have specifically mathematical sounding names are still doing calculations, but they're more complicated (think linear Algebra and higher). Some of them, like dodge and burn, are named for actual photo editing techniques.

While it's not super important to know about the mathematical side of blend modes, I think it's worth knowing at least enough about how each of the categories of blend modes works and why they do what they do; if for no other reason than having a starting point when you start experimenting with them in your work.
