whenever im on this app i only really tweet about transfeminism which for some reason makes TMEs think i "hate trans men". like yes, i have some amount of hatred to all my oppressors - its why when i make post i never say just "trans men" i say "TMEs" (even though most of the time the people im talking about ARE trans men - i just dont want to directly say trans men because it feels like i would be projecting some form of hatred onto them specifically that i dont have)

infact, honestly... i really do love the few trans man friends i have because they were the ones ive met on discord or twitter or even 4tran who understand transfeminism and understand their own male privilege above trans women. even when im ranting to one and i say "god i hate pooners" they dont get defensive they just agree bc they see trans men being transmisogynistic daily just like i do

and i think that a lot of TMEs on this site should learn about trans feminism, since i know they will see this post and try and claim the mere term of "TME" as being an insult or insist im just making all this up as an excuse to hate on trans men.... or maybe theyll just call me a biological man and move on with their day. who knows

the more i use this app the more i understand how TMEs view biological sex. they genuinely do think that biological sex is immutable and no matter what a trans woman will be a biological man and a trans man will always be a biological woman. this view is why they think trans women (in their eyes biological men) have privilege over trans men (in their eyes biological women).

in their eyes, seeing trans women as men is not wrong or transphobic, its seen as an unarguable truth. it is simply just "rude" to actually point it out. its like pointing out a womans weight to them - while its true a woman might be larger, it would be rude to point it out

sometimes it is genuinely sobering to be confronted with how little the average transmasc knows or thinks about the transmisogyny present in scociety and especially in systems that have power over us.

I don't say this to dunk on or insult my transmasc friend, he's a genuiniely wonderful person, I'm just baffled by the ignorance at play here.

he describes himself as an actuvist for trans rights. he didn't know about v-coding, or about trans women being denied access to domestic and sexual abuse help services for women, he didn't know how fucking bad the state of femenizing healthcare is because like many others, he heard "testosterone is a controlled substance and estrogen isn't" and concluded from that that getting on E must be easier, no further research needed.

but the most important part? when I pointed this out to him, he admitted his bias and promised to do better. he recognized how he had been ignorant of transfem's specific struggles because of his own marginalized status and reaffirmed his support.

I am so used to being met with hostility when discussing transmisogyny that this(the bare fucking minimum) was a genuine positive surprise to me in the moment.

if you're TME and sceptical of transfemenism, i want you to think about this exchange and reflect on wether you might have been in this position before, and if so, why you didn't respond the way my friend did.

i think what a lot of TMEs dont realize is that transfeminist do not inherently hate all trans men. we simply want trans men to realize their own privilege above us. for some reason to many trans men think that is an impossible and evil ask

a dichotomy between 'affected at all' and 'fully exempt from' is actually probably not good and will continuously piss so many people off unnecessarily

the argument specifically from Black women that they suffer, cis or otherwise, from the masculinizing perceptions of dominant white society and are thus, at the very least, affected by transmisogyny, is i think pretty fair!

it is a bluntly all or nothing terminology and while i see a ton of people with a slew of opinions i think are misguided to outright classically misogynistic complain about the terminology i dont think that means it is immune to valid criticism.

i think there are many, many examples of non transmisogynized people being affected by transmisogyny and i dont think we need to deny that to own that transfeminine people are also transmisogynized people and are the primary target of it. the argument that not being the primary target means you are exempt from it entirely is so flimsy and we should find a better alternative to illustrate what exactly were talking about when we discuss being transmisogynized people for the good of education, our mission, and our safety
