what's really depressing is that truly, every time there is an interracial m/m couple the situation is the same. every single time every single fandom the brown and black men in those ships get depicted as hyper masculine and hypersexual and the white men get depicted as feminine and demure and virginal etc etc compared to them. not by all fans of course but by a large % of them. literally there is not a ship where this does not happen. and there is no way to talk about this. because the moment you do, a huge chunk of the people who do this decide that you're personally attacking and bullying them, no matter what you do or what you say. you can be mean you can be nice, you can be angry you can try to reason, appeal to empathy, explain your positions, have as much nuance as you want, it is all for nothing. I have made my positions clear so many times on every issue and it does. not. matter. after they have decided they will not listen to you, and they will try to discredit you with everything they have and harass you and others until you all shut up and let them be racist in peace. words will be put into your mouth that you never said, you will be blamed for shit you never did, your position will be warped and twisted and depicted in the worst most reductive and unflattering ways. no matter what and every. single. time. and the racism just continues on unfettered, with new fans and new ships and new platforms. over and over and over and over again. and yes it is small and yes there are bigger problems but fuck me if this is not a microcosm of the lack of empathy and self awareness that plagues our society.
