New Drabble about Virus Moon, read on AO3 or below the cut!
Moon doesn't know if they're rotting from the inside out or the outside in.
It's like there's this awful mass inside them, at their very core, that's creeping out and out and out, taking over them little by little. Their very base protocols and programming have been ripped out and decayed and everything that's built upon them is falling into ruins. They can feel gore that they do not possess crawling up their non-existent throat and they're sure at any moment it will bubble out from between the creases of their face for all to see. They've cried for a mechanics help to tear out the bleeding mass inside them, swears that if they just opened them up they'd see is writhing and creeping through their wires but everytime they're cracked open it hides and hides and hides. Eventually it will wear their casing as skin and there will be nothing left of them inside.
At the same time they feels trapped and corralled by the creeping viscera that writhes across their metal. Very movement allows the twisting mass to sink deeper into their being and all they can do is cower within the very depths of themself and wait for it to devour them. There's nowhere to run anymore and their body has become a prison in ways they never thought possible. Every touch and press is wrong and they fear if the flesh that their outer self has succumbed to is flaking onto every being that grabs them, that they're harming everyone who cares for them. They weep because there is nothing left to do except wait to be consumed by pulsating metal-made-meat.
Moon doesn't know where their Sun went, they cannot feel the heat of their other half. Whether the rot that has corrupted their body had spread itself upon his warmth, or removed him entirely. They both hopes and despises that their dearest may have shut them out, forced them down down down into the disgusting mass inside of them, left them to drown while he survives without them. Every second without the brightness hurts in ways they could never imagine, but being in that light burns just as much.
In the hazy battle of lucidness, they know hatred that is directed upon themself and themself alone. In those moments they believe that they have already been overtaken, or perhaps that they have always been this way. Every hour, minute, second their mind and body rots and they become less sure on if they've ever existed in the first place. That the decay had not always been there, that they and The Sun where once intertwined, that they where once more then a metal corpse chained to another's back, a sick, rabid dog their owner can't bare to shoot and thus instead lock away to starve.
They burn and cry and cower and hate, and they hates that they hates because it only makes them sicker. They hates that they're put away up on a shelf or in a box or locked away, that they cannot cower and curl and hide within their other and feel his care upon their code. Yet, they hate themself for that very own selfish desires, for daring to want something that would only make The Sun sick and dim and hurt. How dare they want such comforts that would only kill the one they have left, yet they cannot blame such urges on the decay of their being and they can only wonder if they were always so cruel.
Moon doesn't know if they were or were not or if they deserve this rot or if they simply are. Moon doesn't know if this is deserved punishment or if it is cruelty laid upon them for the simple act of being. Moon doesn't know if The Sun cries and weeps for them as they does for him, if he mourn them and ache for their return. Moon doesn't know if their other half cares that they are gone at all, that perhaps he is celebrating the removal of the creature that haunts him at every moment. Moon doesn't know if they will, or can, or should be saved, or if death is the less selfish way out.
Despite not publicly posting TSAMS stuff in a hot second, I found this in my drafts and had a small spark of inspiration! This is a Nexus Arc Fix-It Fic, but keep in mind it does have an agere-based plot.
How do you think Starlet and Sunbit would react to meeting PipDaCreator(OC), this is how she looks.
( PS; If it seems like I'm requesting something I'm sorry! I was trying to show you how Pip looks so you can get a better image of how she'd most likely interact with those two )
Sunbit's gone through quite a few daycares, looking for one that could safely care for Starlet. I'm sure having a brave kiddo around to make sure the little tot doesn't get hurt would make quite a good impression!
