Reborn has me actually fucking hooked. Every time I play it, the game session stretches past midnight. The characters are so fucking fun (except Fern) and I’m gonna be honest, it’s broken my heart way more than Rejuvenation did in such a short timeframe. It really confronts you with how everything that’s happening affects the people around you. People die, items received have stories to them, so many people are unable to care for their Pokémon because they are too poor or too old.. Team Meteor is so much more relentless than Team Xen has been so far, although Team Xen really is an organization that tries to stay in the shadows as much as possible, so it makes sense. Team Meteor is so loud and ruthless with their attacks, wreaking havoc on random civilians, crushing buildings, causing homelessness, death, poverty (not that those weren’t already running rampant but they are progressively getting worse with each attack). I feel like Reborn is supposed to break you down by showing you every small heartbreak, the people whose partners and family and friends they’ve lost, children who are so helpless and they get kidnapped or lost or even killed. The cracks in the walls and ground, the government’s refusal to help, the pretentious assholes who pretend they are above the people in the lower wards and only acknowledge themselves as victims when the people who rob them are made poor by the government’s neglect, or turned violent by their circumstances. My Growlithe, Emver, was an old police dog who belonged to a guy who’s now dead in a ditch. The bike I have was bought with the voucher of a woman who died in the Beryl Ward. The player doesn’t seem to be a chosen one just yet in the story. I hope it stays that way. I like how personal it feels.
Anyways, National “Kill yourself” usage has increased by 200% after tumblr user slayer-hoplash met the fictional character Fern from Pokémon Reborn, investors in the “Kill yourself” market are quite happy, but stocks are expected to crash when tumblr user slayer-hoplash finishes Pokémon Reborn and/or Fern dies.
Also I love my Pokémon very very much this game makes me put more effort into raising all of them and I got attached to more than usual. I’m favoring the grass types so far. There’s King Viney the Serperior, Cheri, the Cherrim, Summer the Leavanny, Rosa the Roselia for grass types. I’ve fallen in love with Victoria, I wanna marry her, she’ll help me murder Fern.
Me and Victoria will adopt Anna from the orphanage. This is not negotiable. We will also take care of Shelly. I’ve literally never wanted to be a parent before this game.
As for actual gameplay updates, I beat Shelly! Her, Cain, and I are going to beat the shit out of an old man and unkidnap Heather. I love Heather. She’s so cocky and frankly, she earned it.
