Spider-Man Brand New Day Thoughts

*disclaimer: I have not seen the movie and I wasn’t really planning on it so I didn’t mind spoilers because I was only looking for one specific thing *cough* *cough* Daredevil *cough* *cough*

But SPOILERS I guess for folks who haven’t seen it!

I know I am probably beating a dead horse here but I just feel like it was SUCH a lost opportunity not to have Daredevil in Spider-Man Brand New Day.

Like Matt would have been the PERFECT ally for Peter the entire movie!

1. The whole thing with Jean Grey: I know it is not stated in the MCU but I am pretty sure in the comics that Matt is highly resistant to telepathy (not completely immune) but still he has a high resistance to mind control so he would have been PERFECT against someone like Jean Grey

2. Peter’s senses: who better to help Peter with his heightened senses than someone who CONSTANTLY has to deal with their heightened senses like c’mon Matt was RIGHT THERE!! It would have been the PERFECT opportunity to establish a mentor/ mentee relationship between the two considering that in the comics they interact a lot with each other and share villains!

3. The Hand is in the movie: Y’all… Daredevil literally has the MOST experience fighting against them! Literally had to deal with them for 2 seasons like WHY was he not in this movie?????? Why is FRANK of all people in there????

Like those are three pretty big reasons alone but I could literally come up with more on why Daredevil should have been in this movie! It was such a lost opportunity!

People are leaving out the fact that Karen is viciously blaming Matt for the acts of Fisk and Dex when her and Foggy scolded him constantly for wanting to cross the line for the whole of the Netflix show.

Karen literally had a whole rambling monologue to Matt in the church basement in S3 that aimed to instill guilt about what killing does to a person but now there's revisionist history happening like she's always wanted Matt to kill Fisk?

Now when Matt does it to her, he's suddenly a bad guy? Twisting Matt's character and doing some revisionist history for the sake of ship reasons? Fuck this fucking shit.

I just watched the first season of the Punisher and I will say just one thing…

Say what you want about Matt Murdock but he doesn’t come out NEARLY as bloody as Frank! 😭😭

Like Matt can be Daredevil almost everyday of the week but Frank can only be the Punisher for major events because he damn near loses a liter of blood, breaks most of the bones in his face, and leaves almost every fight barely alive! 😭😭

And ALSO Matt may brutally beat up bad guys but Frank DEMOLISHES them!! Like Jesus I would actually take Matt’s form of punishment over Frank’s ANY DAY!!

Small Thoughts on DDBA S2:EP 1

-Spoilers Ahead!-

- I really hope we got more cheeky Matt! I loved him in She-Hulk and I would just love to see little glimmers if his usual sass!

- I also loved how they showcased Matt’s senses! I want more of that pls!!!

- I am not going to buy into the Matt Murdock is straight propaganda!!! Give me my bisexual Matt and let him grieve the love of his life, FOGGY NELSON, without him jumping into the arms of Karen!

- Y’all I’m going to be honest, I do not like Karedevil. But I am also not a Kastle shipper so calm down. It mainly has to do with the fact that I don’t like Karen sorry 🤷🏾‍♀️

- Similarly, I don’t know if I like the Karen and BB friendship… especially because I have not forgiven her for CAUSING Ben’s death. And YES it was ABSOLUTELY her fault argue with a brick wall!

- Going back to relationships: can Matt just not have one right now?? He really does not NEED a relationship right now!! He shouldn’t have gotten into one with Heather and he shouldn’t get into one with Karen! Can he just be by himself for a second??? Jesus!!

- I want Frank to come back so bad but for Matt not for Karen.

-Oh Heather… the power of discernment I had with you was very strong…

- Ok but I actually LOVE the fact that they actually show Matt having PTSD from Foggy’s death. Like that was such a genius move and it makes SENSE!!

- Dex saving Matt and potentially stalking him??? With the title of the episode called “The Northern Star”???? I literally have dreamed for times like this!! I can’t wait for Dex’s obsession with Matt!! And more fanfics of One-sided psycho-sexual attraction! Not mutual because Matt would NEVER get with the guy who killed Foggy.

Closing notes: I think the episode was fine! I definitely feel like this one has different energy than the last season and I feel like they are focusing on things that I wanted them to focus on last season! I hope it doesn’t get too wacky but who knows!

After watching the new Daredevil Born Again Season 2 trailer, I am honestly just excited to see if they will explore Matt’s senses more! Seeing him falling out and freaking out by something and holding on to Karen really makes me think that Fisk will use Matt’s senses against him and I would really love to see that!!

Daredevil Fanfic Idea

Ok so this idea is kind of Matt/Dex but it totally doesn’t have to be!

But like my idea would be that Matt never got help for his senses and that the orphanage actually has him committed to an asylum or institution. And he stays there for YEARS because he doesn’t get better.

And years go by and it really messes with Matt’s psyche to the point he has a couple of screws loose. But not in a murder kind of way. And idk maybe it would be a different superhero or the Defenders who stop Dex, Dex goes to trial and is put in the same asylum or institution as Matt.

And they both bond in some weird codependent relationship like Matt becomes Dex’s North Star and Dex is like the one person that helps Matt focus and drown out the noise. Or it could be one-sided codependency where Dex becomes obsessed with Matt or vice versa!

But either way, Dex breaks out of the asylum and brings Matt along with him! And it’s literally them on the run and like taking care of each other and like Karen and the others find out about Matt and what he went through and try to get him proper help.

Idk how it would end or what would happen but it would just be interesting premise to explore! I don’t see fanfics that explore what would happen if Stick never came into Matt’s life and he never got that help.

I feel the need to stress just how important Giyuu was to the story, yes he's a side character with barely any lines or scenes (other than the new movie) but bro was the one to start everything, hear me out

If Giyuu didn't listen to his instincts and killed tanjiro and nezuko in the first episode, it would probably be thousands of years before the corps could make any progress, and Giyuu was the one to send Tanjiro to Urokodaki, giving Tanjiro the help he needed to join the corps, Giyuu was the one who defended them against the Hashira and him and Urokodaki convinced Ubuyashiki to let them live, and he's the one who convinced Urokodaki to give them a chance, and the event that shattered Muzan's plan was initiated by Giyuu, what event made Muzan dismantle the lower moons and become more careless, allowing several upper moons to be defeated, Rui's death, how did Rui die, Giyuu took him down with one slash, who killed upper 3, Giyuu and Tanjiro, who is with Tanjiro, protecting him so he can do what he needs to do Giyuu Tomioka that's who, shout out to Kanzaburo though, cause if not for him Giyuu would've died with Tanjiro's family

Thoughts on Rengoku after Infinity Castle

Disclaimer: SPOILERS AHEAD

I see a lot of people, after seeing the movie, say that Rengoku was weak and he didn’t stand a chance and I really resent that statement!

And mind you, my favorite character/ Hashira is Giyuu and my second favorite Hashira is Gyomei so before folks say it’s because Rengoku is my favorite, that’s not it.

But like one thing I am not seeing people say or I don’t think they realize is that when Rengoku encounters an Upper Moon, that is like the first Upper Moon they have encountered in years!!! Shinobu’s older sister encountered an upper moon when no one was around so there really weren’t any encounters or sightings of Upper Moons. They have no information on how they are, their powers, what they look like, etc! So when Rengoku encounters one, that is the first in years! So he is fighting this demon blind!!

And by the time Tanjiro and Giyuu fight Akaza, Tanjiro has fought 2 more Upper Moons so they have a lot more information on them now and know what they are capable of!

ADDITIONALLY!

Rengoku is basically self- taught! His father stopped teaching him so Rengoku had to basically teach himself even if there were archives from last flame breathers. It’s not the same as actually being taught! I firmly believe that if his father actually guided him, he would have been a lot further along!

And mind you! Tanjiro and Giyuu technically did not defeat Akaza! Akaza just decided to go be with his family rather than keep fighting! So Giyuu and Tanjiro would have been well and truly clapped if Akaza decided he would keep on fighting!

Now I want to emphasize that this is NOT to diminish Giyuu and Tanjiro like Giyuu really was holding the fight and he is a strong Hashira hands down! But I hate that people are saying that Rengoku was weak BECAUSE of the fight between Giyuu, Tanjiro and Akaza. I just don’t think it is really fair!

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Part 1 Thoughts

Ok so I went to see the Demon Slayer movie yesterday and I have so many thoughts about it that I wanted to share!

SPOILERS AHEAD!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!

I cannot emphasis enough that if you have not seen the movie PLEASE do not read this! I hate spoiling things for people!!

Anyways! Here we go!

I’m just going to get the quality of the movie out of the way before I get into the actual content

The Pacing

The pacing was…fine. What bothered me the most was how long some the flashbacks were. I get that you have to explain some things but like we are still in the middle of a battle and had they made this into a season rather than a movie, then these flashbacks would have taken at least two or three episodes to get through I fear. Like Akaza vs. Giyuu and Tanjirou would be a whole season ALONE so like I see why they had to make infinity castle into a movie rather than seasons because I just don’t think it would be possible with the way they were pacing it. That being said, I think they did a really good job getting through each fight in a way that didn’t feel rushed or half done.

Ok on to the stories!!

Shinobu vs. Douma

I KNEW what was coming as a manga reader but MAN was I pissed the hell off! Like it was beautifully done which made it all the more tragic and I was just seething throughout that fight! Douma annoyed the FUCK out of me (which is what his character is suppose to do) and the way Shinobu died was just so heartbreaking! And again I KNEW what was going to happen! But it just felt so derogatory like ugh!! Why did they do my girl that!! And the voice acting UGH!!! Shinobu!!! 

Ubayashiki’s children

Their choice of voice actors for the children were SPOT ON! I knew in the manga that they were young like just little kids but the Japanese voice actors really made them sound like the babies they are! It really highlighted just how young and strong they are to be doing this despite losing their parents and sisters and how they shouldn’t have to be doing this at such a young age!

Zenitsu vs Kaigaku

Very satisfying towards the end! Kaigaku was another one who pissed me the hell off like oh my god you are literally a VILLAIN even BEFORE you turned into a demon! Seeing Zenitsu reunite with his master getting animated was just *chef’s kiss*! Immediately started crying when his master said “you are my pride and joy” like wrap it up!! Beautifully done!!

The lower rank slayers

I cannot emphasize enough how much I ADORE every single lower rank slayer! Like they really put in the work and understand their roles!! Like they were slaying demons and doing it well! They were defending the hashira so they could conserve their energy like they are the best! And like the ones who were with Yushiro and Zenitsu were so funny and amazing like I love them seriously!!

Ok now onto what y’all most likely want to hear about...

Akaza vs Giyuu and Tanjiro

Oh my god y’all this fight!! THIS FIGHT! So So So So good!!! They really popped off with the animation and fight choreography!! 

Giyuu “I’m not a hashira” like what the hell are you talking about!! Literally shut up!!! You are one of THE strongest hands down! Like I will be so honest but Giyuu carried this fight! And this is honestly where the pacing for me comes into play. Because while Giyuu was fighting, Tanjirou was having episode long monologues and flashbacks like he was literally just standing there and thinking. And I get it, he has to develop and grow but all I was thinking about was the fact that while Tanjiro is standing there, Giyuu is literally fighting for his life. And like he isn’t doing bad! Giyuu is so freaking strong and this fight really highlighted that he is a hashira for a REASON, but I was like Tanjiro feel free to help at ANYTIME!!

And THEN I found myself getting annoyed with Tanjiro! Like when he announced himself to Akaza, I was like “oh my god WHY!!!!” And mind you, I knew he would because I read the manga but still! It annoyed me so much! I was like “pookie PLEASE!”

Also Giyuu and Tanjiro’s relationship is so important to me like oh my god I wish people appreciated just how much Tomioka has done for Tanjiro. He is literally a big brother!!! And the way he kept protecting Tanjiro and saving him and then in the end when Tanjiro ran to protect Giyuu like YESSSS!! They are literally siblings!! And then they both passed out and their crows calling their names!! Ugh my Shaylas!!

Akaza’s backstory! It was beautifully done oh my god!! I really resonated with his backstory so much! Especially when he was talking about caring for the sick! Like I really resonated with that as someone who was a caretaker for a parent. And when his life was finally turning around BAM, he loses it all again like UGH! And then when he finally FINALLY lets go of being a demon and is just sobbing in his wife’s arms like I was CRYING!!! And the music was just so well done in that moment!!

Overall this was a really good movie!! I am actually worried about my sanity for part 2 and 3 because of how heated I got during this one!! But overall i enjoyed this movie and would honestly want to watch it again!

Law’s Trauma Headcanons

1. He is afraid of fire

Given that his entire hometown burned down and his sister died when they burned the hospital down, I can definitely see him having an aversion to fire.

2. Law has burns on his body

In my headcanon, Law went back into the burning hospital to look for Lami or at the very least he was moving burning rubble trying to dig her out. Which caused him to burn his hands, arms and certain parts of his body.

3. Law doesn’t scream when he has a nightmare

Because he couldn’t even cry or yell out without the risk of being shot by the marines, he physically can’t when he has a nightmare about it. He will seize up or cover his mouth with his hands while dreaming so it is hard for the crew to be alerted when he has one.

4. Bepo is the only one that can sleep with him

I headcanon that Sachi and Penguin run cold so if they touch Law or hold law while he is having a nightmare, it will remind him of the pile of corpses he had to lay under and will freak him out more. Similarly when he is awake he sometimes cannot be touched

Why do some of yall act like Matt and Frank don’t have a relationship outside of Karen? Mind you, they’ve known each other longer. Yes, they argue, but that doesn’t mean they have 0 camaraderie. They’ve obviously “kept in touch” throughout the years and it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve come to each other’s rescue.

Mind you, Matt found Frank off just his heartbeat.

They’re not combative with each other out of hate, that’s literally the only way they know how to communicate. But there’s always a level of trust there. Because they know they can come hard at each other and still be okay. Frank and Matt have to be gentle with everybody else in their lives, but not each other.

It’s not even about shipping. I just hate how every action Frank takes y’all assume it’s for Karen. He’ll rant and rave and call him an idiot, but he’s not gonna just let Matt die. Let’s please be serious.

Daredevil Fanfic Idea

Matt tells Foggy about his senses early in their college era, in a moment of trust, and it actually does not go well.

It would be so interesting to see this explored and idk if anyone has written a fanfic about it, if so please tell me!

Like what if Matt disregards Stick’s teachings and actually tells Foggy and he freaks out or it turns out he is prejudice against the enhanced. And like it leads to very bad consequences. Like everything that could go wrong goes wrong. Kind of almost like x-men level prejudice and fear. And what if Foggy calls the government or something to have Matt detained like that is an extreme scenario.

Or a less extreme one where he tells Foggy, Foggy freaks out and Matt loses the only friend he has ever had. How would that affect Matt in the future? Would Foggy realize he was wrong and try to reconcile years later? Like it would be so interesting to read a scenario where Stick was actually right and Matt should have kept it a secret!

I hope this made a lick of sense! Please let me know if someone has written something like this!

Fratt X Hunger Games Fusion

I’ve gone back down a hunger games obsession and it is mixing in with my daredevil obsession SO I have had an idea for a fan fiction that I would pay top dollar for!

Btw this will be Fratt

But like imagine a hijacked Matt! Like the angst of it all! And it would be so interesting to see how the capitol could alter Matt’s memories based on smell, hearing, and touch alone! Like if the capitol was aware or found out that he could hear heartbeats and make so that whenever he heard Frank’s he was triggered.  Or even programed him so that if he smelled Frank or heard him then he is triggered.

It would make recovery for Matt so much harder because he can pick up heart beats and just everything from a LONG distance so for awhile he would be in a constant state of panic and fear because Frank can only go so far so he would hear him, his heartbeat and smell him constantly!

But also, imagine them playing “real or not real” and Matt knowing that they are telling the truth BECAUSE he can hear their heartbeats! Imagine Matt being so confused because sometimes he hears Frank’s heartbeat and finds it comforting and doesn’t remember or know why.

Imagine Frank’s devastation because Matt would always lay his head on Frank’s chest so that he could hear his heartbeat and know that he is there and alive and safe. Only for Matt now to be so panicked and disgusted by his heartbeat that he tries to hurt himself.

Imagine Frank constantly hearing Matt screaming because he is scared of him! Imagine him just spiraling because he hates that he is hurting Matt and he doesn’t know how to fix it. Especially because when Matt has a sensory overload, Frank is usually the one to bring him back! Imagine him (like Katniss) turning his focus to killing President Snow (or whoever is the president at the time). 

But imagine them coming back to each other little by little! Imagine Frank reconfiguring Matt, one sense at a time! And imagine Matt working so hard and struggling with it like y’all!!! Imagine them running through the tunnels and Matt is having a sensory overload moment and Frank is actually able to bring him back! Kind of like the Katniss-Peeta kiss where she stays "Stay with me" and he says "Always!" Like can someone please make it happen!!!

the way this fandom talks about matt, you'd think they're talking about walter white or something lmao.

idk how you watch the original show and just have zero compassion for his character or anything he goes through, blame everything that happens on him 100% of the time even during nuanced two-sided issues, ignore every transgression any other character ever makes against him with excuses about why it's okay they did it, and then say wild things like "he doesn't deserve love".

these are fictional characters, so it's not that serious, but that's a pretty intense thing to say i think? lmao

also, this idea that it's even up for debate whether or not daredevil is meant to be a hero just because the show deals with many complex themes is hilarious. the original show already asked this question AND answered it on more than one occassion, and the answer is yes every time it comes into question. even ddba understood this because it was so obvious, and ddba understands almost basically nothing.

"matt doesn't think he's a hero though." wow, it's almost like matt carries a lot of guilt and self doubt and doesn't always see himself clearly because of that! but hey, what do i know.
