The first round is up right now. You can vote here.
Submissions are closed!
The polls will run for 1 week.
Please let me know if I didn't use the right name, fandom tag or image for a ship! If you don't like the image I used for a ship, feel free to send me a better one
You can submit propaganda via asks or reblogs at any point. Propaganda in reblogs will be reblogged, propaganda submitted in asks added to the main post. Anti-ship propaganda is also allowed.
Yes, this is seeded (at least partially. ships i wasn't familiar with were assigned to their match partners at random) (I tried and kind of failed to predict which fandoms would get invested in this)
Botting is discouraged but will not result in disqualification. If you care that much about a ship, by all means, go ahead. I don't really care :)
In the case of an exact tie, the two ships will move on to the next round as one merged entity. Is that very practical? No. Do I think it's funny? Yes!
If I feel like it and everyone's behaving well, there might be a third place poll
I will never take an adult calling Kids These Days illiterate seriously because in one day, the mid-late 30s-something couple (wherein both parties have post graduate degrees) that my friend and I were staying with disclosed some truly insane levels of reading comprehension:
Example A: one of them was confused and shocked to hear that England used to be Catholic and exclaimed that the English were the very first Christians. As in, ever. In history. She had never heard of Anne Boleyn outside of the musical SIX. Pope’s British now, oops
Example B: the other was telling us about a BBC article he read about how Cornish miners brought football to Mexico (hnnnnggh that’s a seperate rant oh my god) and drew from that that Cornish miners invented football and that the Locals didn’t have any ball games. The absolute disrespect.
And there’s more??? Those are just the two most egregious examples which is diabolical

You seem like the type to have crazy awesome JS&MN headcanons
Well!! I thank you, though I do not know if I should call them crazy awesome..
I suppose the ones that have most occupied my mind revolve around my favorite characters.
For example, I believe that when Vinculus pondered over Segundus' name, and even requested that he write it down before ultimately being assured that he was not either of the raven kings intended magicians for the revival, he still saw something of his relevancy. Something Mr Segundus is never inclined to do himself...
I had mentioned once though I do not know if this is a headcanon or just some pondering, that Norrell treats Strange as one of his bound books, or rather he means to and Strange never molds to the idea.
Oooh and!!! Though I don't think this a very uncommon speculation, I believe that Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, while on the other side of the rain as they say, do indeed travel about to other realms. It's fun to think of their expeditions. I wonder though how long they intend to enjoy that luxury, as Strange has promised to return to Arabella. I'm certain he loves her, very very much. But he is also a bit mad. I hope he doesn't forget her, but she might be safer if he did... either way, I'm sure Norrell is enjoying himself. It's ironic that he's gotten everything he's ever wanted; solitude in his treasured library, no distractions apart from his dear friend and fellow magician, all while shrouded in a tower of darkness, the thing he feared so terribly all his life, for the darkness belongs to John Uskglass. Ah well it is a gift and a curse.
Something that is not necessarily a head cannon but an idea I play with occasionally, is the kings roads connection to the wood between the worlds in the Magician's Nephew. I may write something more about this in future but not now.
Another I often think of is, and again returning to Segundus' relevancy (how can I not, it's very obvious by now he's my favorite) that he is again recognized by Childermass as being significant. His near remembering of him in every instance he is not supposed to, and then of course the visions of Emma before her enchantment is revealed. I like to believe that Childermass held onto the notion of his importance, which is why he knew to intrust the care of Emma to him, I bet he suspected he'd sus out what was going on.
l'm sure we all believe and know Childermass to be the next reader of John Uskglass' book. How exactly he goes about the reading is something to ponder. I for one believe he may benefit from reading the land first — the sky, hills, rivers — he needs to practice a new form of understanding things.
Ah and to continue with this thought — though it is not really a head cannon, more an expression of my appreciation for this concept — I had always treated the world this way, and that is why this book is so dear to me. I had written once that "I put out my hand to the world, and the world reaches back." A broader idea, but built upon the fact that I do reach out my hand to the grass and hedges that line the roads, as if it would think to hold mine in companionship. And I lift my head to the sky when it rains because they are nature's peppered kisses. And I think on how when I was very young, I thought to marry a tree, and I still wear what I deemed a wedding ring so long ago. I like thunder most of all because it feels like a letter returned — after months of speaking to the sky, I get an answer, and it is wild and beautiful. I'm sorry I get very fanciful and carried away but I have too many thoughts!!
Any other headcanons I can think of at this moment are very trivial or just amusing to me…
Such as thinking that Segundus' hair always lifts and curls in the presence of magic. Or that he does indeed get to have his school of magic. I headcanon that I attend and become a very proficient magician ☝️
Should I think of any more I'll reply to this again, it is very late and this is all in my immediate stream of consciousness.

Quail Island, New Zealand. Kathleen, Scott, Teddy and Titus watch the ponies for the first time.
- Look, Titus, what a magnificent animal!
- Uh-huh.
- But I mean look! Look at this energy! Isn't this pony splendid?
- Senile, Teddy. It's senile. Starts also with "s" but means something else.
- But Titus, really, do you have to be such a pessimist?
- Stop tugging my arm, Teddy.

Pennell’s boggo with a slur name on display at the museum!! I didn’t know he was the one to donate it!
great news: the team who restored the Belgica’s coelophone (hand-cranked reed organ) for last year’s MAS Antwerp exhibit digitized their recordings! that means that you can listen to the actual music they had on the Belgica played on their actual device like you can listen to it right now
photographs from the same source, Pauliphonic, where you will also find a video of the restorers operating the piece and almost 100 photos of the object itself :) it’s a really thorough demonstration of this instrument; I actually saw it in person at last year’s exhibit & feel this is a much, much more effective way to showcase how the “books” are shaped and stored and how much manipulation is required to play music on this thing.
