Makoto watched as Sousuke pushed himself up, wanting to help but she was on the side of his injured shoulder and knew that he probably was better off without her trying to help and making things worse. She stood shortly after him, brushing off the skirt of her dress.
Seeing her father standing there and watching them, she frowned, How could he just stand there and stare at what he had done?! She wanted to go and slap him herself, but she did need a bed to come home to at some point. It wasn’t like Sousuke and her could afford an apartment that would be convienent for the both of them right then.
But that wasn’t important. What was important was her listening to Sousuke and helping him out. “Oh okay,” she said, reaching into his pocket. “I…Oh, that’s sweet.” Smilng softly, Makoto hit the buttons for the month and date of her birth, feeling a little giddy that he had taken the time to change his password to that.
She followed behind the medic and Sousuke, making sure to keep the screen on his phone active so she could dial the number for him. This was going to be an interesting conversation…
Her father seemed to understand that he'd really messed up and took a step back, not saying a word and heading back to the kitchen. Sousuke didn't fault the man for being protective but he was quite injured, the reaction had been extreme.
Sousuke smiled at her when she was going on about the password. He'd felt it appropriate after a few months with her and wanted to make it that much more real. He was lifted onto a gurney, the medics putting him into the vehicle before going up there with him, getting him hooked up to a couple of things to monitor him.
He rattled off the number for her, sighing when he heard the dialtone. "Hello?" A dainty voice was on the other side and Sousuke recognized it immediately, very happy his phone was on speaker.
"Hey mom. Uh, something happened on the way to Makoto's and I'm going to the hospital for the night here in Iwatobi."
Predictably, there was a shocked gasp and the woman's voice turned stern. "Sousuke, what in the world did you do? Please don't tell me you've been swimming after your shoulder injury... it's unhealthy for you to be doing that."
"No. Someone tried to attack Makoto, I had to defend her. I'll call you when we get to the hospital but otherwise I'm alright." Sousuke heard the doors of the ambulance closed and saw that Makoto had been allowed in there with him. He knew there was no way she was going to let him get away with giving his mom such little information.
Makoto nodded along with Sousuke’s story, looking to the twins, hoping that they wouldn’t refute anything. She helped support him in sitting up. His weight was solid against her smaller frame, but she could do the best she could to support him.
"Sou-chan was protecting my sister," Ren said, looking up at the paramedics with wide eyes. "She’s gonna have his baby so he needed to keep them safe! Please make him better, mister!" Ran simply nodded, holding onto her brother.
Makoto was glad to see that the twins were going with it without having to be told. They were good kids, even if they fought from time to time. “Yeah,” she said, looking to the paramedic. “We were walking from the train station and they came out of nowhere trying to steal my purse. Sousuke stepped in and it just got worse.”
The paramedic nodded and began to check Sousuke’s vital signs. “We’ll get you to the hospital to get your shoulder looked at,” he informed, motioning for his partners to come in with a board to strap him to. “It looks dislocated, so I would prefer to have a full exam done.”
Hearing they were cool with the story, Sousuke smiled at the twins. He was starting to feel a bit more comfortable in his role of expecting father and he knew that he would need Makoto's experience with kids to help him. He glanced to the medic and nodded, almost groaning at the board.
"I can walk, I'll be alright." He tried his best to get up, seeing Makoto's father standing nearby. The man didn't approach further past the doorway, a bright red spot on his cheek from where he was slapped. Sousuke saw, with some satisfaction, that the man was clearly thoroughly chastised.
Sousuke managed to get up to his feet, groaning at the way his shoulder shifted. "I'll need to call my parents. would it be possible to do that on the way to the hospital?" The medic nodded and Sousuke waited for Makoto to come with him.
"Makoto? My cell phone's in my right pocket, I can't get it like this, will you grab it for me?" Sousuke's voice was soft as he was talking to her, letting the medic lead him to the ambulance a few moments afterward. "The code's your birthday," he told her.
Makoto used her free hand to play with Sousuke’s hair to keep him calm. “We could say it was me they were after,” she suggested. “That you were just protecting me.” At least in her mind, it made sense. The excuse would show that Sousuke was responsible and didn’t pick a fight. Which he didn’t, but still. She did not want their parents to start off on a bad foot with each other, not when they would have a grandchild soon enough.
"It’ll be here soon," she promised, bending down to kiss his forehead again. "You’ll be alright, I promise." Makoto sighed making sure to keep the twins near her, smiling softly as they were petting her belly. It was adorable but still. She just wanted everything to be alright with everyone.
Within ten minutes, the sounds of sirens drew close and there was a knock on the door soon after. Makoto jerked her head up, relief spreading through her. “It’s open! Come in!” she called, refusing to leave Sousuke.
The paramedics came in and immediately began asking questions. “What happened, sir? We need a detailed account since you’re conscious, can you do that for me?” a young man asked, trying to assess the injuries.
The hand in his hair was nice, it was comforting but he couldn't get over the headache, it was wearing on him faster than he had thought one would. "Yeah, we'll go with a mugging on my way here." That was so much easier for him to deal with and fabricate.
Of course he didn't know if Ren and Ran would listen to them when it came to that. "Just make sure that the twins are on board with the plan." That was the last thing they needed was for the twins to mess up on the idea that they were going to use.
He already didn't like the paramedics being there and tried to sit up, wanting to appear far less weak to the strangers. "Got attacked on the way here. My shoulder's hurt and I can't feel that arm, was kicked in the face and knocked out." That was the short of it and Sousuke thought he got it all, not realizing that his right arm was starting to turn cold.
Makoto wrapped her arm around her siblings, trying to get them to calm down. As frightened as she was, they had to be much worse off. They were still so young and impressionable that that was an awful thing for them to see. “Well,” she said, trying to keep calm for them. “Mako has a baby in her belly. It’s Sou-chan’s baby and dad doesn’t like that apparently. So, he hurt Sousuke because of it.”
Ren blinked up at her, a small hand reaching out to touch Makoto’s stomach. “Is the baby making you sick?” he asked innocently. “Is that why you say your tummy hurts in the mornings a lot?”
"It is," she said, giving him a tiny smile. "But, they’re mine and Sou’s baby so I love them very much already." Makoto smiled and looked to Sousuke, feeling him begin to move. "You, mister, are not going anywhere. You just got hurt badly and were knocked unconscious. The only thing you’re doing is going to the hospital to get looked at."
Seeing the two girls interacting like that was definitely adorable and Sousuke felt a little better about it. He smiled softly and closed his eyes, letting himself rest against her. Beside her, Ran huffed. "But babies are good things, dad shouldn't have hurt Sou-chan because of that."
It wasn't until he remembered the hospital that Sousuke frowned. "Shit. We'll have to tell my parents the reasoning for it. My mom's not going to believe I was mugged either," he groaned. He hadn't been wanting to tell his parents about the baby in the middle of a damn hospital room but he supposed that it could have been far worse.
Feeling a headache starting to creep up on him, Sousuke closed his eyes. He knew he shouldn't fall asleep again, it would probably be really bad for him to do that, but he couldn't help but want to. "How long is that ambulance going to take? I really don't want to have to tell my parents about this."
He knew his tiny mother as going to be very upset with her father and Sousuke really didn't want them all starting off on a bad foot.
Makoto blinked at Sousuke, wondering why he was trying to make a joke out of teo things she found to be horrible. And yet, she could not help but giggle. “It’s not funny, you jerk,” she whispered, leaning in to kiss his forehead. “I’m glad you’re awake. I thought… I thought maybe you were gone…”
Her fears has been a little extreme, but she refused to lose him just like that. Makoto kept running her fingers through his hair, trying to distract him from what she figured what was a pretty painful position.
”Ren, Ran, it’s alright,” she said, looking back to them and offering a small smile. “Sou-chan will be alright. I’ll get him to the hospital and make sure they make him all better, okay? Please don’t cry..”
Sighing, Makoto just settled onto the plush carpet, waiting for help to arrive. While she waited, her ears perked up at the sound of what was possibly a slap coming from the kitchen. She just prayed it was her mother doing it to her father.
He smiled slightly when he heard her giggle and hummed at her kiss. It was stupid but it made him feel better, just enough so that he could nuzzle her stomach a bit. "Kicked me hard enough that I thought I would have been. Sure your dad wasn't a fighter when he was younger? Not seen moves like that since Tokitsu."
Sousuke shifted to his back, the new position being a little easier for him to deal with. He heard the twins shuffling closer, both of them pressing against Makoto while trying not to touch him. It was a little cute but Sousuke couldn't preoccupy himself with it. They were scared shitless.
"Mako-chan, why did papa do that? Sou-chan was just... he was just sitting there and papa hurt him so badly," Ran whispered, Ren holding her hand to try and help her calm down. They both jumped at the sound of a slap, dual whimpers coming from them.
Sousuke tried to sit up, wanting to try and make things right between all of them. "I should talk to him."
Makoto really was going to be sick now. The blood dripping from Sousuke’s lips, the way he just looked broken and the fact that it was her father that did it. All of that just made her want to run and not stop.
But when Sousuke fell limp? Makoto felt like she was on a warpath. “How could you?!” she shouted, her normally calm demeanor forgotten. “How could you do this?! Why couldn’t you just be happy for us! I know it’s not great but I love him and he loves me! This is our baby!” She had stepped forward and clutched her father’s shirt in her hands, screaming up at him, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Makoto…." Mrs. Tachibana dislodged her daughter from her husband and had her sit back on the sofa. "Call an ambulance. I’ll take care of your father. You help Sousuke, please."
The young woman nodded and wiped at her eyes, shaky hands reaching for the nearby telephone and dialing for help. Once the call was completed, she sank to the floor and put Sousuke’s head in her lap before running her fingers through his hair. “Wake up, please,” she begged, eyes glues on his features for any sign of arousal. “Please, Sousuke…”
The older man stared at his daughter in surprise, he honestly hadn't been thinking that she was going to be upset with him. He'd only been attempting to protect her. "I... Makoto..." He didn't know what to do and stepped away from her. "I was just trying to help..."
All the screaming had Sousuke's eyes slightly opening about five minutes later, the ambulance taking a long time to get there. He turned his head toward Makoto, Ren and Ran simpering in terror in the corner. "That didn't go as planned," he slurred, not having been prepared for such a violent response.
He opened his eyes enough to see that her father wasn't in the room but his entire right arm was numb. "If I weren't done with swimming, this would have done it," he tried to joke, wincing at the ache still in his shoulder. Sousuke just wished this would have gone better.
Makoto didn’t register at first what had happened but that dull thud of Sousuke’s head against the wall certainly solidified things for her. Gasping she bolted out of her seat, hands going to tug at her father’s shirt, trying to get him to stop.
"Dad, please no!" she begged, feet planted firmly on the ground as she tugged and tugged, watching her feeble efforts do nothing in deterring the repeated blows to his shoulder. Tugging his shirt did nothing and it frustrated her to no end. While she was confused and afraid at her father’s sudden outburst, the fact that he was beating her boyfriend made her bold enough to try and stop him.
"Makoto, step back," her mother instructed, trying to protect her daughter. She needed to keep her own child, and that child’s child safe, even if she was still reeling from the unofficial reveal. "Makoto, I mean it. Let me handle this."
She obeyed and stepped back, wondering just how in the world this was going to play out.
Mrs. Tachibana, took her husband’s arm, fingers wrapping around his wrist as tightly as she could. “If you throw another punch, you’re going to throw me,” she warned, voice low and forceful. “I suggest you do not do that.”
Makoto blinked, wondering just how that was going to get him to calm down, but hopefully it would. She needed to help Sousuke. That pained look on his face could not mean anything good.
The hits didn't hurt any less than the first one. Sousuke didn't cry out anymore but he was starting not to be able to feel his hand, this was serious. Whatever it was that was damaged, it was beyond conventional help and Sousuke knew he needed a hospital.
He was still dazed when he heard Makoto and her mother talking, the woman somehow managing to get him loose. He couldn't even keep himself standing after he was let go, sinking back down to the floor with his head hanging. The taste of copper was in his mouth and Sousuke knew he must have a busted lip, maybe even having bitten his tongue, but he didn't know.
Ren and Ran were staring in shock nearby, not knowing just what it was that they'd just seen. "Daddy..." Ran had started speaking but quickly shut her mouth, Ren moving to sit in front of her. Nearby, Sousuke was doing his best to move but was thoroughly unable to.
"Heh... one hell of a story to tell the kid," he whispered, Makoto's father sneering and sending a well aimed kick to Sousuke's face. It was that last strike that put him out, Sousuke's body going completely limp.
Makoto blinked at the question. She had been sitting quite close to Sousuke, hand clutching his tightly. She was not ready to make the announcement at all, if ever. Maybe just having her water break in the middle of the kitchen one day would be enough notice. ‘Hey mom, look, I’m pregnant and the baby’s coming now. Can’t do anything to make me get rid of it.’ But, that was a little more than ridiculous and she was well aware of it.
"I…I’m alright," she said, giving a small, wary smile. "It was just this morning, Ran. I’m fine now."
Her mother looked less than convinced. “Makoto,” she asked softly, leaning forward to get a better look at her eldest daughter. “Is this the same sick you’ve been having for the past few weeks? Why you asked to stay home from school?”
Oh no. No no no. This was not happening, not this way.
Makoto could feel hot tears behind her eyes and shook her head, hoping to stop the questions at that. “I’m fine,” she managed to squeak, hardly convincing anyone.
He felt her hand and squeezed in return, trying not to look too suspicious but he knew it was starting to get to be too late. Ran didn't seem too convinced of her answer but she didn't say anything, going back to talking with her brother instead.
Makoto wasn't fooling her father, who heard the few weeks comment and immediately knew what was going on, going straight for Sousuke the moment he figured it out. The teal eyed boy didn't get a chance to say a thing when he was yanked from the couch by his bad shoulder, clenching his teeth in pain. Her father didn't seem to notice, and if he did then he didn't care, throwing a punch for Sousuke's face.
The twins gasped and twirled at the sudden motion and Sousuke was sure that his jaw was going to be bruised, if not fractured, his head falling against the wall violently. He was confused and dazed, unable to completely defend himself as the man picked him up, growling deeply. Sousuke couldn't even manage to stand on his own, almost falling at the second he was released.
It seemed as if Makoto's father had remembered his shoulder and slammed his fist down on it, the white hot pain causing Sousuke to cry out. If it weren't ruined before, it certainly would be now.
Makoto smiled at Sousuke, her hands gently patting her siblings’ heads. She could see his nerves as clear as day, but she couldn’t exactly tell him to keep calm when she was feeling just about the same. Her stomach was upset and a nervous tremor affected her hands, but she needed to keep calm so they could deliver their news.
"Okay, you guys go ahead and finish setting the table," she said softly, trying to listen to Sousuke and her father’s conversation. The twins gave her another hug before continuing to set the silverware on the table properly.
At least they were getting along, she thought, leaning against the wall nearest the kitchen to support herself. She did feel a bit dizzy, but not bad enough that she couldn’t stay to finish dinner.
"Makoto, help me put dinner on the table," her mother said, popping her head out into the dining room. "It’s ready. Hm, looks like your dad’s trying to be funny again."
The young woman giggled and nodded. “Yeah, only a matter of time until Sousuke starts making jokes like that,” she teased before she froze, realizing what she had said. “Well, let’s get dinner on the table. I’m starving!” Hopefully no one caught onto what she had said…
Talking with her dad was a little comforting and Sousuke was finding himself able to calm a little more until he heard what Makoto said, sitting across from her. He didn't know what in the world to think about that but Sousuke did his best not to bring it up. It certainly didn't seem as if Makoto's mother or father had paid much attention to it.
As they ate, there was quiet small talk and Sousuke had never been so awkward when eating. His phone vibrated a couple of times but he didn't answer, trying to concentrate on his food. The twins were quiet and no one seemed keen to really start talking about anything.
Afterward, they were all herded into the living room where Sousuke was able to remove his jacket and loosen his tie a little, Ren and Ran playing nearby. It wasn't until Ran turned around that Sousuke was okay. "Mako! How's your tummy? You didn't get sick from dinner did you?"
Sousuke paused and noticed the surprised look on her parents faces. Ah shit... so it was going to start now, huh? He sent a side glance to Makoto, blinking and trying to see what she would say.
Seeing the twins, Makoto was glad to see them only just arguing instead of spoon fighting with each other. At least it was adorable at some times. Only sometimes though. “Ren, Ran is right,” she said, going behind them to adjust the knives. “If you set the table for dinner with guests it’s proper that you set the table correctly. Remember what Rei-chan taught you?”
Ran smiled victoriously and nodded. “I told you, dummy!” she chirped, sticking her tongue out at her brother. “Big brother butterfly is always right.”
Ren pouted and turned to Makoto, wrapping his arms around her and burying his face against her stomach. “Mako… Why is Ran so mean?” he whimpered, hands clutching at the back of her dress for comfort.
"Hey, hey now," she murmured, doing her best not to panic over Ren pressing against her like that. "Ran, you need to be kind. Ren is you brother and you two should get along. You are right, but you don’t need to be mean about it, okay?"
Ran stopped and nodded before setting the silverware onto the table. “I’m sorry,” she said, going to Makoto’s side and hugging her just as he brother did. “Ren you’re not a dummy. I just want to make sure everything is good for Sou-chan!”
Makoto grinned, patting the tops of both their heads to comfort them. “Alright guys, that’s good,” she cooed, wanting them to get away from her secret. “Okay, why don’t you go and finish setting the table?”
Ran smiled and leaned in to kiss her sister’s stomach and nodded, watching her brother do the same. “To help Mako’s tummy feel better from this morning!”
Poor Makoto was stunned into silence, wide eyes glancing over to Sousuke.
Oh. Yeah, Sousuke had thought for sure that he was going to have to deal with this kind of thing before but seeing it first hand had his heart racing. Kids. He was having a baby with Makoto. Sousuke had to keep his stomach from rolling and watched them quietly, finding Makoto's gentle nature with them to be endearing.
He wanted to believe it was going to be fine but then the kids mentioned her illness from that morning and Sousuke nearly started hyperventilating. He didn't know what to say about that but simply smiled at them. "That's very kind of you," he told them, sounding slightly stilted.
Of course, Sousuke had mentioned not having a lot of experience with kids before as well. He readjusted his tie and coughed to clear his throat, Sousuke was beginning to sweat a little, this was definitely not what he thought it was going to be. Just before he got the chance to speak, Makoto's father came in and grinned at him, holding a hand out to shake.
Sousuke smiled and flipped into business mode, not letting his nerves get the better of him. "Ah, Mr. Tachibana, it's wonderful to see you again."
"And not a moment too soon, I thought for sure our large family may have chased you off after that first date."
The man was clearly teasing, making Sousuke laugh softly. "Ah, not at all, sir. It was quite nice actually. I brought some of my family's whiskey with me if you'd like to try some of it."
i’ve actually often wondered how fights would go down between the two of them? my thanks to a certain someone who reminded me that i’ve never drawn angsty stuff and tbh i doodled this as a challenge but i failed i give up i’m never drawing angst ever again
Makoto nodded, still feeling apprehensive. But, with Sousuke there, she knew her rock would be there right beside her to keep her calm and make everything alright, no matter what kind of reaction they got to the news. Hopefully it wouldn’t turn into an episode of trash television…
Sigh a gentle sigh, Makoto let go of Sousuke’s hand and had him follow her into the kitchen to greet her mother. “Mom?” she called, giving her a small smile. “Sousuke’s here. He brought us some roses!” She knew her mother did enjoy little gifts such as flowers, so hopefully it would soften the blow of their news considerably.
Looking up from the pot she had been stirring, Mrs. Tachibana smiled and set the spoon down. “Hello dear,” she cooed, going to his side and reaching up to kiss his cheek. “They’re beautiful, I’ll get a vase. Can you two make sure that Ren and Ran are setting the table and not sword fighting with the spoons again?”
Makoto nodded, relinquishing the roses. “Sure,” she said, reaching to take Sousuke’s arm for support. She knew the twins liked him, but still.Once they got into their imaginary fights, it was sometimes hard to pull them out. “Ready?”
Truthfully, Sousuke was terrified. His gut kept clenching and his heart was pounding, he felt as if he'd just ran up four flights of stairs but he had to do this. He needed to show that he could be responsible for his actions and he was definitely going to do that with the baby. Sousuke just hoped it would show them.
The sight of Makoto's mother surprised him, she looked so young and was quite beautiful. It was easy to see where Makoto got her looks from. Sousuke smiled at her and bowed deeply but the kiss surprised him. "Ah, good evening. I brought a gift as well, a little 'hello' from my father and his business."
He presented her with the whiskey and was happy to see that she wasn't too upset about it, simply telling them to make sure the twins stayed out of trouble. Sousuke nodded to her and glanced back to the dining room, following Makoto to the room. "Ready as I'll ever be."
As it turned out, Ren and Ran were actually putting the silverware where it needed to be, but they were arguing with one another. Sousuke caught bits and pieces of it but from what he could hear, Ran thought the knives when on a certain side while Ren thought it really didn't matter. He was a little more inclined to side with Rin, mostly because Sousuke never thought it mattered as long as there were things on the table.
As such, he didn't much know how to sort this out.
She couldn’t help but smile at the roses in her hands. They were beautiful and she knew her mother would love them as well. “Well, I’ll have to thank her, won’t I?” she teased, reaching with her free hand to take his, giving it a squeeze for comfort.
Shaking her head at the question, Makoto bit her lip. “Ran saw me getting sick this morning and I just told her it was from some bad seafood last night at Haru’s,” she confessed. It was so weird, lying to her little sister. “Gou and Rin know nothing either. I almost told Gou, but stopped. It’s hard keeping it a secret.”
With a sigh, Makoto shrugged, trying to get her nerves under control. “We should let them know you’re here,” she suggested, giving him a small smile. “Mom’s been cooking and it smells good. Dad’s been doing… something. I’m not really sure what but just be careful, okay?”
"Hm, perhaps. I got it last year when my dad was grooming me for the business, he was convinced I was going to make it." Of course, Sousuke was still in the training phase but he hadn't done much else than that. He would do it later though.
Although, the fact that he knew the little girl knew of Makoto's sickness, it worked on making him a little more uneasy. That was probably the worst part. "Good, if they knew, it might get a bit messy, we don't need Nanase breaking the door down after finding out. That's just not an option."
He nodded at her warning and closed the door behind him, putting his shoes at the designated area before sighing. "Alright, let's get this show on the road, I guess..."
If only her stomach would stop churning… In the week since she told Sousuke of her little secret, her morning sickness had increased nearly tenfold. It was so weird, it was as if the baby wanted to be noticed by everyone… And she nearly did confess to Gou when she rushed into the ladies room at school that week so her breakfast could come back up.
But, the nerves were what were churning her stomach that morning. She knew it was time to tell her parents, and Sousuke had agreed. But still! Telling her parents that she would be grandparents? It was horrifying.
To ready herself, Makoto put on a simply, flowy dress in her favorite shade of green. It was one she had worn on a few dates with Sousuke and it just made her feel just a bit more confident. She sat nervously near the front door after she was ready, just waiting for Sousuke to arrive.
When the knock sounded against the door, Makoto sprung from her seat and eagerly opened it.” Hey,” she said, taking a moment to take int he sight of him in a suit. “You…you look amazing today…”
When the door opened, Sousuke couldn't help but grin at the comforting sight of Makoto. His nerves decreased but only a little bit. He leaned down and kissed her cheek, slipping the roses into her hand. "Thank you, took a bit of convincing to get my mom to send it but she finally did."
He stood there awkwardly with the whiskey bottle in his hands, trying to figure out what to do then. He could hear her mother getting the kids to calm down enough to help her set the table and Sousuke took a deep breath, doing his best not to seem too worried.
"They haven't figured anything out have they? Gou was talking to Rin to attempt to find out what was going on but he didn't know what to tell her." That in itself was relieving but it was a close call, at least it was to him. It was bad enough that Rin had noticed his hands shaking as he was buttoning his shirts the past few mornings.
Getting the wink sent in her direction had Makoto’s face turning a very healthy pink color and a devious smile curling her lips. She never thought she would ever have the capacity to act in such a manner, but there it was. All thanks to Sousuke.
"You’re a dirty boy," she teasing, lifting her foot and tapping his knee with her toes gently. "I think we might need that bath here, you know?" Giggling again, Makoto moved onto the dessert on her plate, thoroughly enjoying every bite.
She saw him peeking up at her and when she would catch his gaze, she either made a silly face or stuck her tongue out at him, trying to get a laugh or even just a smile. While she knew he was alright about the baby, she figured it was still weighing heavily on his mind. So, she did her best to try and make him happy again.
Once her plates were nearly licked clean, she smiled at her boyfriend and shook her head. “No, not in here,” she hummed, reaching out to gently run her fingers through his hair. “But, I do see something completely yummy right in front of me.”
~One Week Later~
If there was anything that had Sousuke tense, it was the idea of meeting Makoto's parents with the news that they had. He didn't know if he wanted to do it but he had managed to have his mother send his suit, convincing her it was partly for his graduation outfit. He just told her he wanted to make sure everything was together and that it didn't need to be altered.
Surprisingly, the sweet woman believed him and Sousuke was dead happy for that. He had stopped on his way to Makoto's house to grab two dozen roses and a bottle of his father's whiskey. He wanted something to present to them and the bottle had two purposes; one to show that his family's business was legitimate and two so that he could calm her dad if he needed a drink. It was a win-win idea.
He stood in front of her door and readjusted the tie, trying his best not to freak out. It was just strange now that he had thought about it but he didn't want to walk into that house. Either way, he knocked and prayed.
