The sad thing was in the knowing that all their nerve would get them nowhere in the world and that they were lost as all people in Brooklyn seem lost when the day is nearly over and even though the sun is still bright, it is thin and doesn't give you warmth when it shines on you.

March 6 Met w Jenny at The Scratch Room. I was impressed w my corned hash benedict because it was actually kind of bland and I could add hot sauce to my liking whereas other places are super salty and too much sodium is just no bueno.

March 4 Probably the first time you've seen chicken curry in a CAR...long story. Anywho, I'd never tried Manas during college and did so today. It was so good; the burst of tomato & punch of cilantro were my favorites

Challenging myself to take and post a photo a day throughout the month of March. I decided on this today so no picture for March 1st, but here is a pic from yesterday of our Wednesday small group! I must say Alex’s head can turn quite a bit.

But has tumblr become pretty much obsolete? I want to start posting again but not sure if I should create something new altogether.. but for now this will do.

dreamt yesterday that I traveled to a big house full of people and as I journeyed down the hallways encountered people from all stages of my life and it was like a big happy my-different-worlds-colliding-party and I relished the possibilities of all the people to talk to and catch up with. but alas, If only if only the woodpecker sighs

David Reimer had a circumcision accident as an infant and with his surgery gone wrong, his parents were advised by doctors to raise him as a girl.

They did so, and psychologists/doctors declared his reassignment as successful. But despite steady hormone injections and gender socialization, David did not identify as a girl, and in early adolescence, refused to continue to receive estrogen treatments for breast development. At 14, he rejected living as a girl and confronted his parents, discovering the truth of having been born a boy. He then lived as a male, but troubled and depressed, and at the age of 38, he took his life.

A heartbreaking example illustrating nurture does not trump nature. Gender/ sexual identity is not so easily malleable nor primarily learned.

I get so weary trying to love people. It takes everything. Humility can feel like humiliation. Patience feels like losing. Grace can feel like pain.

But the alternative is far worse. It’s hard to love people, but so much harder not to. Hate feels like winning but it shuts the door. Grace is the only seed that might bloom. Either way there’s a cost, so I choose to invest in love.
