Sources and links for Palestine/Congo! I said in a previous post from yesterday (I think) that I would research and look for websites to learn from/donate to as they are trying to get aid into Gaza. But stay with me for a moment... Tiktok is a REALLY good place to go looking for that. There are THOUSANDS of users raising money through filters, sounds, and simple views to send money to donation websites and such. So if one can't contribute financially (such as myself, a broke lgbt+ American), you can spread word and information. Which is what I am attempting to do. ASKER OPINION ALERT: I get how EA's predatory payment practices would make people stop playing their games, that I get.
But how does a game NOT being vocal about issues outside of said game warrant boycotting it?
It just makes sense as a business model to not get involved in matters outside of things that concern how well your product performs.
Friendly conversation ahead! Not at all trying to sound upset or angry with the user! I understand what you mean! And I agree. They should do what they can to keep the game alive, Respawn has worked really hard. But there's something you should consider. The entire world is pretty much on fire right now. We as humans have suddenly been launched into an age where being silent is very much not appropriate- climate change, war, genocide, colonization and entire NATIONS of people being displaced, greedy corporate greed and AI taking over millions of jobs/STEALING from the creative minds of our earth... it's a lot bigger than a business model, y'know? Being silent about these present issues is also especially harmful to one's image... I doubt Respawn or EA wants that. Yes, it's important to keep your business afloat, but do consider the circumstances. I'll try to explain my thought process: Respawn has already made a really good impression with many communities before, speaking out on social issues in the past (and being very advocative for LGBTQ+! The insane pricing is entirely EA being greedy as well). But it's because of this that I say that they should be saying something. Educating, like they have before. Again, a bad look overall to be silent. Not good for EA in general to be. I still see the posts of Devs/Voice Actors defending their employees/game characters' identities circle around. They're good people! But it's about being silent. Especially with a game is as large as Apex is. (Not just calling out EA here. Activision Blizzard, Bungie, whoever owns who... I see the BARE minimum from those companies and their games. None have been as loud and proud as Apex Legends has over the years. Especially with characters, with meaningful identities and stories that all melt together so seamlessly.) I also do not believe I said that I am boycotting Apex Legends (Slightly laughing at that sentence. Never thought I'd say that... apologies if I did. Wrong wording.)... Apex is one of those games I usually like to play to pass the time, as it's good at doing so. But, with current issues (And again, I only say something because Respawn has spoken up in the past. Which is a good thing!) and with the frustration of the cross progression completely halting any progress I try to make, it makes me not want to play ... HOWEVER. If they did speak up and made support/false information about Israel and the occupation, then that is when another boycott, one of EA/Respawn, would be necessary. But considering the past reasoning, no, I do not believe they would. I know it's a lot, not coming at you, genuinely! This is simply my thoughts on it. (I also tend to type a lot on Tumblr posts '^-^) Not saying they should completely halt their progress and updates and whatnot- but considering their very positive past of education and teaching kindness instead of hate, I expected to hear from them by now on this. I've since deleted Twitter/X (whatever it is now..) because I'm just not a fan of my account, very information and presence being used for AI. So if they have said something, but it's there or somewhere I'm not, I want to see it. I hope to see something.
This feels so wrong to be posting about during the current world issues right now, but Apex is REALLY pissing me off at the same time for one, PLEASE go do research or go look at/use filters/donate to organizations and groups trying to get aid into Gaza. There are many out there. I will go and edit this post later once I have a few links I've been seeing floating around for that. But yes. Apex Legends, you are completely not making me want to play. On top of the really bad cross progression, I've heard or seen nothing from Respawn about support for Palestine, Congo, island nations, etc. They used to be VERY vocal- a stop Asian hate badge, BLM badge, a badge to raise awareness for suicide, LGBTQ+ badge, etc. But nothing about these current issues. Maybe it's just because I'm not on social media often. But it's make me not want to support this game. Gaming community has been weirdly quiet about it too. So when I say bad cross progression, I am saying it as it is. All it does is combine cosmetics... and then halts any progress you made on one version of the account. The purpose of cross progression nowadays is to combine EVERYTHING. Not just cosmetics! I'm having to completely restart the BP, my Bloodhound Heirloom skin (I was 67k dmg in on the third stage) progression, any progression I had on other Legends, because kills/damage/other stats didn't add onto each other. And continue not to go up. I've been playing so much mixtape and the stats under the legend used (Bloodhound) has not changed. I get wanting to keep console and PC separate, but it shouldn't be at the cost of an ENTIRE accounts progression. I'm talking about everything under that EA account with the same email. Both these things make me not want to play, and are once again irritating me beyond measure. I wanna see some game devs speak up on everything right now. And if they have, I'm going to look after this is posted. If anyone's got similar issues or even solutions to this, please let me know.

On the topic of oppressed peoples.
If you haven't already seen my very upset post about Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of Palestine, PLEASE google and do your best to research what is going on. I've learned a lot about the lies Isreal spreads to make CIVILIANS seem as anything but human. It's far from the truth. But, I once again come to tumblr for help as to how I should write and design a specific character of mine. I've posted about them a while back, and I come bearing my willingness to learn about those America oppresses through history and others' experiences. And the best way I want to understand and learn about Native American culture is through this OC. I want to get it right and right on the nail, and not just because I want a Native character. I want to understand and I want to learn. After I post this I will be scurrying off to research what I can, but I much prefer to hear and learn from the voices who need to be heard about it. Just as I did with Amarok, with her origins being that of Inuit culture, I will do the same with this character. First I want to acknowledge that this character I originally had designed simply for the fun of it, as a Lackadaisy OC, not really being sure of I wanted to make then native in fear of being incorrect about anything, (ESPECIALLY for the time period.), but I will say again, I want to learn and understand more than I already know. Anyone who is able to give insight or knowledge, literature or even just a good blog to reference, please speak up and tell me what I should know. Don't be afraid to DM me directly either, I am all ears and listening. I can't stress enough how I want to learn. Thank you for reading if you did. And, for those still expecting kaiju content, I'll admit I am really not wanting to overshadow any information being posted right now. I can’t really apologize for not being active here on Tumblr and other social media. The chaos that has befallen the world sickens me to my stomach. And it took DAYS to call a ceasefire on Gaza, even then I’m still not sure if they actually did, and it fucking sickens me. I will not be silent and I will not let them go unheard.
As most of you would know, Isreal, for MANY years, has been committing FUCKING WARCRIMES on Palestine and its citizens. As a white american I am doing ALL I can to educate myself and learn about the history, about the TRUTH that Genocide Joe and federal agents alike are trying to censor. By further trying to lie and make western media say what isn’t true. We are watching in REAL TIME, THAT OUR WORLD LEADERS ARE LYING TO US. THEY DID THIS WITH THE NATIVE AMERICANS. THEY DID THIS WITH IRAQ, PAKISTAN, AFGHANISTAN, AND SO MANY FUCKING MORE. I AM ANGRY. I AM FUCKING ANGRY. DO NOT BE SILENT ABOUT IT.
