dark, long shadows crawled up the walls of the abandoned building as levi walked through it, being followed by his ‘friends’ as he made his way across to the table in the center of the room, taking a seat near the head of the table ( as the head was reserved for erwin ) and crossing a leg over his other.
there was a new member joining today, apparantly. eren, his name was. no one knew each others last names unless you were erwin, he knew everyone. The door at the entrance of the building creaked open and in walked their leader, followed by a boy who didn’t look above fifteen- yet he had to be over eighteen at least.
“levi, you’re in charge of this one. show him the ropes, then you two will be going on a little trip out of town to fetch me someone.” erwin announced, watching as levi stood, a scowl on his face that he had to take care of his child. levi glanced to eren, looking him up and down once before tilting his head to the side in a beckon for the boy to follow him out the room.
A dangerous game is being played. Eren very well knew that, and it's why he had been why he had been volunteered and requested to take on this undercover mission. Fear wasn’t something that seemed to be programmed in his mind, showing when he gladly took it. Information was quickly put into a file for him to take home and go over, something he did the instant he closed the door on his apartment and kicked off his shoes. Opening the file, he went through it many times to remember every last detail.
Given the place and time to make his move, he does. Every move is carefully calculated until he’s in, and it isn’t long before he’s being brought in since they’ll apparently need him for something. Eren walks in prepared, unfazed. Especially when he’s being presented to the man that’s apparently going to be in charge of him. His gaze narrows, and there’s a smug smirk that starts pulling at his lips. He’s being sized up by the older man, and he can’t help but be amused by the way he’s being looked at. Already, he can tell he’s going to be given a hard time.
Eren’s okay with this. He isn’t one to step down easily, or at all. He had been warned to try and bite his tongue as much as possible, but already he can tell he’s going to lose that ability. Well, at the most he’ll keep from calling him short stuff to purposely piss him off. Something tells him he’ll wind up with a knife in his throat. With a nod, he follows him out of the room, looking straight ahead but taking in every surrounding.

Levi did end up falling asleep, waking up as his phone buzzed and frowning at the blurry message. Half an hour. He yawns, stretching out in his blankets and pulling them up over his face. He could cancel, he doubted Eren would mind right now. It would give Levi the whole night to himself to relax also. He hauls himself out of bed eventually, making his way to the bathroom to wash his face, hating the itching feeling of unclean skin under his clothes so he eyes the shower, annoyed. He probably doesn’t have enough time, but Levi began to pull his clothes off anyway, dropping them to the floor and stepping into the warmth of the shower-water, visibly relaxing as the spray hits his back. He runs his hands down himself slowly, tracing across all the scars, running his fingers lightly over the tattoos and lingering over one in particular before sighing again, rolling his eyes and grabbing the soap, beginning to wash.
As he finishes, he realizes he only has a few minutes left so Levi hurries to pull on some new clothes, wrapping a scarf around his neck and heading outside as the phone beeped. He spots the car, beginning to walk to it, a little nervously if anything. Why was he even nervous though? He had looked soldiers dead in the eye, walked through countryside where bombs were buried underground. But a boy made him nervous.
Levi taps on the window, opening the door and slipping inside, glancing to Eren and looking him over, hating how beautiful he looks without even trying. What an asshole, Levi hates guys like that who wake up looking a million dollars. He bet Eren would even have nice bed hair and morning stubble. Dick. “If I don’t smoke, what was it you were going to give me?” He asks slowly, curious and a bit horny.
Turning his attention when he heard him climbing in, he eyed him over for a moment. Biggest thing to get his attention was his scent, that had instantly spread throughout the truck the instant he had climbed in. It caused for Eren to shift in his seat ever so slightly and pull out of the parking spot to keep from eyeing him over. He didn’t trust himself not to try and touch him again, knowing he’d have to constantly remind himself not to do so for the rest of the night. Even so, he can’t help the smirk that pulls over his face. He tried to at least wipe it off, only for it to grow a bit wider. There’s a shrug pulling over his shoulders, and he spares him a glance.
He can always leave it to his imagination, taunt him with possibilities. He hadn’t decided on one specific thing to give him, being open to just about anything. “I don’t know.” He muses, clearly teasing him a bit. “Let’s see how the rest of the night goes, and I might show you.” Clearly the offer was still out for the taking. If he still wanted to, at least. He’ll have to come up with something on the spot, or go with whatever he felt at the moment, since he was bad at deciding exactly what to do beforehand. The breaks are suddenly slammed when he realizes he passed the spot they agreed on, and he does a turn where he shouldn’t have.
These were the main reasons he didn’t have a license. He just didn’t care to follow the rules of the road. He took it slower this time so he wouldn’t go past again, and manages to find a spot close to the entrance. Once he’s parked, he turns the key and removes it before he takes a couple quick steps around the front of the vehicle and reaches out to his door, opening it for him. Best thing he could do was take their dinner in stride, treat it like he would any other date. He doesn’t realize the way he just looked him over, slowly, taking in every detail. His gaze seems to linger before it breaks, just tucking a hand into the pocket of his jacket.
Levi’s well aware of the tension so he buts the cigarette out in the ash tray, starting to stand and brush himself off. “Pick me up sometime. Just let me know half an hour before you leave.” He said, glancing down at Eren, wondering what was going through his head. He wouldn’t have minded if Eren had argued back with him, he likes people who speak their minds, can’t stand meek personalities.
Levi hopes desperately he hadn’t read Eren wrong this entire time, and that he’s as strong-willed and honest as he had seemed. “Or bring dinner to mine and we can eat in, watch a movie. Then go out for desert if you want to.” If you want to go out at all now you’ve seemed to have discovered I’m a bit of a lost cause.
“See you later.”
That last part remained unsaid as Levi let out a long breath, taking out some money and leaving it on the table. He doesn’t speak anymore, just glances Eren up and down slowly, eyes narrowed- concerned, before turning around and starting to walk off. Maybe it’s considered rude, Levi’s not sure. Eren was the one who had decided to touch his face first though. He walks outside into the cold, looking up at the sun behind the dark storm clouds- squinting his eyes before beginning to walk home. Might as well get a few hours nap and have a shower before he gets a text. His hands tuck into his pockets and he dips his head down into the scarf, shivering all over. His apartment probably needed a clean if he was going to be having guests, too.
“Will do.” He lets him go, and waits until he’s out the door to let out a huff, head tilting back. A groan of annoyance draws from him, and he’s picking up his sweater from the chair and unfolding it to put it on. He slides both arms through on the way out, pulling it down fully once he’s out the door. He’s not bothered by the cold, and ends up rolling the sleeves up once he’s driving out to the local pet shop. He needs to pick up a couple of live bugs, and maybe even a small mouse as a treat.
He runs whatever little errands he has for the day before he goes back to the dorm, tossing the keys onto the table. He puts everything away before he slumps into the bed, and he feels every bit of exhaustion suddenly wash over him. He’s tempted to go ahead and nap, only to remember he ran late because of it. He’s already half asleep when he pulls himself up from the bed, dragging his feet across the floor to plop onto the small sofa instead, signing onto his game system. Luckily, a few friends are on to keep him entertained and awake, and lose track of time until it’s time to get ready.
He pays careful attention to the time this time so he doesn’t have to rush. He signs off, shooting him the text that he’d be there in half in hour. He takes the bit of time he has left to take a shower and get dressed, fingers running through his hair to smooth it down as much as possible. Even if he brushes it out, it’ll wind up a mess on his head. Before he leaves, he removes the lid off the tank and unboxes the mouse, dropping it in before quickly placing the lid and a book on top. Just to be sure she doesn’t wander out tonight.
He knows by the time he gets home, he’ll be too tired to go looking around for her. He picks up the keys on the way out before he drives over, for the first time being on the dot. Mostly since he ignored a couple stops, but that was besides the point. He hesitates once he parks outside the place he dropped him off before, and the music is probably an indicator he’s arrived before he even sends out the text that he’s there. He’s not sure if he prefers for him to go get him and escort him to the car, or if he’d prefer to just go out alone. He dials down the radio a few notches before he finally turns on the heater for Levi’s sake, taking in a breath to calm himself down. Not like he’s never gone out to dinner with someone before, so he shouldn’t be this nervous. Yet here he was, a nervous wreck.
Levi relaxes again, happy at the agreement, before tensing up as Eren moves forwards. He flinches somewhat as the hand touches his jaw, maybe from the physical contact or because of how warm and soft Eren’s finger tips are. He leans his head into it slightly, just for a moment as his eyes flicker to Eren as his cigerette burns away in his other hand. At the request, a huff leaves his nose, reaching his other hand up to grab onto Eren’s wrist and pull it from his face, gripping just a little too tightly with as little fingers as he could, leaning back so the boy can’t do it again. As much as he wanted to bury his face into it forever, because- ugh, they were so damn soft. And warm. And his hand was so big and, hell, Levi wanted to both hold that hand and do disgusting things with it, too it.
He takes another drag of the cigerette, thinking about the request and playing with the half-way-done smoke in his fingers, turning his icy gaze back to Eren. “I couldn’t make it last for the night, even if I wanted to.” He said slowly, “what’s it matter to you if I kill my lungs anyway, kid? you seemed to be enjoying it a few moments ago.” Levi can’t help the bitter tone, smoking is part of his lifestyle. His choice. Although he feels a pang of something in his chest because it reminds him so much of Isabel. She was so good, she only wanted the best for everyone and Levi has a feeling that Eren feels the same.
When he feels that grip, he instantly tenses. He hadn’t thought anything of it, especially when he felt him somewhat lean into it. His lips pinch, and he pulls his hand back, settling his hands on his lap like a child that just got scolded. He has plenty back that he would have said if he had it in him in that moment. He had far too much racing through his head to pinpoint one good thing to say, so he allowed himself to be rendered silent, something rare for him to do. He’d usually argue back until he was forced to be quiet or until he felt victorious.
He just couldn’t help but worry, especially over someone he was beginning to grow interested in. He wouldn’t drop the subject forever, just momentarily to keep from shoving his buttons too much. At the most, he’d request he at least try not to smoke so much around him. His gaze lifts towards his once more, and they’re certainly different from before. Eren’s eyes were always a direct mirror to what he thought, to what he felt. They no longer held the same glint from before, of excitement and desire. If anything, he seemed inwardly agitated, and was fighting to keep it from surfacing. He decides changing the subject is the best thing he can do.
“Is there a time you wanted to meet?” He catches how he deadpanned these words, and grows a bit concerned that it sounds like he lost interest. He recovers quickly enough, shifting in his seat. “I know a good place for dessert afterwards, if you’re into that thing.” He doesn’t know about his sweet tooth, but he knows of his own. Dinner wasn’t over and done with until dessert was brought out. Hell, sometimes he skipped dinner all together and had something sweet and sugar loaded for dinner instead. He’s familiar with the good locations, and already has one in mind if agreed to.
Levi notices this and smiles a little more, heart thumping in his chest. And it sort of aches, because it’s been a very long time since his heart has made such movements. “We could go to mine?” Levi asks smoothly, no newbee to asking men back to his apartment.
He waits a few moments, enjoying the colour seeping into Eren’s cheeks and the way his pupils grow as if theres something he wants to ravish. Levi likes being that something. But instead Levi dips his head, low chuckle leaving his lips as he fetches a cigerette from his jacket pocket and lights it up, sitting in the smoking part of the cafe after all.
“Maybe we could get Chinese, theres a nice place around the corner from here. Since it’s a date, you’re paying?” Another obvious tease. But Levi wouldn’t say no if Eren ended up paying for him. He flicks the lighter on, letting the flame hover under the stick before breathing it in, holding it and blowing out slowly before placing it between his lips naturally as he tucks the box of smokes away. He knows Eren was watching every moment, so he makes a bit of a show as he uses his fingers to pull it from his lips, licking his bottom lip once and drawing it into his lips before taking another drag, leaning back into his seat as he exhaled.
God, he couldn’t wait until Eren got his hands on him.
Eren starts to ease up once again, and he takes the last couple of sips that remain from his chilled drink. He’s beaming, excited for their dinner. There’s a part of him that doesn’t want to go his separate ways, even if he knows they must. Eren never quite enjoys being around people far too long, aside from a selected few. With Levi, he couldn’t help it. He could gaze at him for a long time without growing tired. There’s a soft smile playing over his lips, and he nods. He doesn’t mind paying, and wouldn’t mind paying for more possible dates in the future.
“Of course.” Relief seems to linger in his tone, relief that he hadn’t made an idiot out of himself by asking him on that dinner date. He watches him pull out the cigarette, and his gaze narrows. He probably would have lectured if he wasn’t so distracted, because as much as he always disliked cigarettes, he somehow made it look so good. It was then that Eren realized he was practically staring, and he tore his gaze away, willing it to fall somewhere random in the café. He hasn’t even gone on a date with the guy, and his mind is already going into territory it shouldn’t. He rubs his temples, hating how easily Levi got to him, easier than anyone ever has in the past.
“How about we make a deal?” A brow raises, and there’s a glint in his eyes that signal he’s up to no good. His lips purse, and he dares reach over to him. Finger tips lightly brush over his jawline, and his gaze narrows. “If you make that one the last one for the night, I can give you something better than a cigarette.” His voice was just above a whisper, to ensure that he listens closely, pays attention.
“Where do you want to travel?” Levi asked smoothly, uncrossing his legs then crossing them back again the other way, leaning into his chair more so and looking over Eren once again. He was so beautiful. Levi had never seen someone as sun kissed as him before, his tan skin and dark hair and blue/green eyes, he almost looked like the sun and sea, maybe like a god from a fairy tale who falls in love with a princess after she helps him become human again. Sent down by the heavens to -..
“Pardon?” He asked, cheeks blushing even redder, such a contrast to his usual pale, marble-like features. Such a contrast to Eren’s features too. Levi’s eyes were dark and he held bags under his eyes, always tired. His hair was neatly brushed and hair sprayed where as the boys before him was unruly and licked at his forehead and his eyelashes- which were incredibly long, his features soft next to Levi’s hard cheek bones and sculpted jaw.
Focus. Levi, focus. He pressed his lips together, leaning forwards as Eren repeated his sentence.
“Are you asking me on a date?” He teased, immediately, trying to hide his embarrassment of loosing himself in such thoughts with cockiness, wanting to throw Eren off instead.
There’s a smirk beginning to pull over his lips, obvious amusement on his face. For the first time, it seems he’s the one with a bit of control. He rather liked it, wanted to keep it… but then he heard his question. The way he leaned forward, that voice. Throwing him off was incredibly easy, his physiques having been the first to falter. Eyes widened, and he instantly felt his face go hot and red. He swallowed thickly, suddenly at complete loss for words. He’s… not sure, really. Did it sound like he was asking him on a date?
He could pick up a bit that he was getting teased, yet the underlying question might be a serious one. Lips part to muster up a reply, only for them to instantly shut once more to keep himself from saying something stupid. He didn’t want to ruin this. Clearing his throat, he manages to pull himself together some, he decides he won’t let himself get thrown off like that. He ignores how fast his heart is drumming, how hot and red he knows his face is. He draws in a breath, and his color begins to regulate itself. He could play it off as a joke and say no, and most likely lose an opportunity.
Or, he can roll with it and just be honest with himself that he’s been into him since the moment he first laid eyes on him. The way he lingered in his thoughts, even after he hadn’t seen him for more than a week. He’s surprised by his own response, the words coming out before he’s able to rethink his words, or adjust his tone to make it passable for a joke in case the idea is turned down. “Yeah, if you’re interested. I mean, I’d like to get to know you better.”
A light shrug pulls over his shoulder, and he begins chewing on his bottom lip nervously. He’s obviously never asked out another man before, let alone shown interest in one. He’s completely stepping over into new territory, and he’s not sure how to go about it. “You can even pick the place? Where ever you wanna go.”
He listens, and a brow raises. He’s not judgmental to his lack of work. He knows jobs can sometimes be hard to land, having been lucky his friend was quitting the one he currently worked, and recommended Eren for the job. “Good luck with your search. If I see anything come up, I’ll let you know.” His lips tug into a smile, and he eases the mug back towards his lips to take a drink. He feels relaxed at the cold drink, and it seems to help calm his nerves a bit. At least he’s not sweating like an idiot, something he did when he was nervous. And that alone, would make him even more nervous. So, meeting up at a coffee place for their first hangout, definitely a good idea.
“Veterinarian. Wasn’t the first choice, I kind of wanted to travel first, but.” His shoulders pulled up into a shrug. Family problems weren’t going to get dragged in. How his dad still refused to talk to him just because he didn’t follow his footsteps into being a doctor. Mother having to sneak around to talk to him, to send him a bit of extra cash to help him survive and pay for new textbooks. As for his sister, he hadn’t really heard from her in a while, so he doesn’t know her opinion. He doubts that she cares. He doesn’t know why, nor where it came from.
But being reminded, getting a bit fueled with lingering anger caused for him to step up a bit. “Are you doing anything later?” His ears would already be flushed red, followed by his cheeks and necks. He remained his neutral, sun kissed tone, accentuated with a bright smile that pulled over his face. “I was thinking maybe if you wanted, we could meet up for dinner, too?” He was trying his best to fight off how nervous he had begun to get, yet in the back of his head he readied for the rejection of it, causing him to bite his lower lip and shrink into his seat a bit.
@cfsteel DISCUSSED FOR A STARTER.
Expected to train, he’s curious to know who will take over his combat training. Excitement seems to drain from his face and be replaced by a worried one when he gets the news that it’ll be Levi training him, and he’s instantly a mess of nerves. If there’s anything he knows best of Levi, it’s that he doesn’t hold back. Not when it comes to a point, nor to teaching something and getting a point across. He expects no mercy, and while it’s a good thing, he’s thankful he has a quicker healing process than normal. He knows he’ll need it for after Levi is done with him, unless of course, he’s at the top of his game and is able to handle his own.
He prepares, mentally and physically. He’s going over what he has learned, and what he might expect. A breath is drawn as he stretches out a bit, knowing he’ll need the mobility. Last thing he needs is to pull a muscle, and with his luck, that’d probably happen if he didn’t prepare. Stepping out to where they’ll be trained, he looks around, and it doesn’t seem that he’s arrived yet. He sighs in relief, shifting his weight to his other foot, hands clasping and rubbing together before he stops and begins to move around in what seems to be circles.
He’s fidgeting, unnerved. Coming to a stop when he hears footsteps approaching, his heart practically lurches, knowing what’s to come. Turning on the heel of worn soles, his gaze settles on the other man that oversees his training from now on, and he doesn’t know whether they’re beginning right away, or discussing rules. He almost scoffs to himself, knowing better than that. Any rules would be simple; no titan shifting, and… that’s about it.
Aside from that, the field was open to all possibilities. Lips quirk into a smirk as he lifts his hands to the sides of his face in a defensive stance, becoming – strangely enough, a bit more confident than before now that he’s seeing him. Maybe he was getting himself wound up for nothing.
“Ready when you are.”
Levi lifted the mug back up to his lips and let it sit there while Eren spoke, happy it was hiding his smirk and the dark blush that was covering his cheeks and his neck. “Seven.. at night?” He asked back, “until two in the morning?” He clarified, leaning back into his seat and crossing one dainty leg over the other, stretching out his pale fingers around the white mug and letting himself inhale the bitter smell of black coffee. “That’s exactly the time I’m awake, I’ll be sure to visit.”
He watched as Eren picked up the marshmellow and put it in his mouth, tongue flicking out to wet his lips again as Eren chewed. God, he needed to learn how to behave in public. “What do you do besides work? Study?” Levi asked, placing the cup down and changing his position so he was leaning forwards a bit. Feeling like for the first time in a while he didn’t have to fake interest about what Eren was going to say. Levi gently ran his finger over the rim of the cup again that he was cradling in his hands, looking up to Eren with a softer looking glint in his eyes, trying his best to pay no attention to the romantic music in the background.
“Uh huh.”
He can’t help the silly, wide grin that spreads over his lips. Better outcome than he had expected, truly. He had almost expected a scoff and a mock, to be questioned why he should give a damn about his schedule. Already, he’s looking forward to seeing him, and suddenly that schedule he didn’t want – is now looking a lot more bearable. He takes a drink to help wash down the marshmallow, but he nods in response.
“In college, full time.”
He probably should have gone part, but he wanted to get all the classes over with. He’s been juggling work and college life well, even if it leaves him with virtually no sleep. He has a bit of baggage under his eyes from not sleeping more than an hour since he got off work. He fights off a yawn, and he starts to repeatedly turn the cup in his hand, leg beginning to bounce. He’s been curious about what the other man does, especially due to his schedule. Not many jobs required someone to be awake at that time. It’s what added to the mystery, made him so much alluring. Usually, someone could tell a low about another person by how they carry themselves. How they speak, dress, their body language. But Levi... boy, was he something else.
“What about you? What do you do?”
(cfccwadcce)
Allen had to take a moment to think about that. Being, out there as Eren put it. It would. He knew his perception of this world had changed from just one adventure outside the walls. He had a new found appreciation for his surviving family, and for his best friend since child hood. Something that reminded him, the cruel world could take whatever it desired for him, whenever it pleased.
“I suppose that would be what happens when you have that situation isn’t it?” A rhetorical question, he had a feeling Eren knew the answer.
He had never felt this level of fear. Eyes always trained on his best friend and mentors in the garrison that had accompanied them. fearing their loss. Being powerless to save many of the members of the Garrison who died, he had barely worked up the courage to save his best friend when he was in danger.
Once again Eren spoke a true point. Be it at Trost, the thing that assured he would be a member of the Garrison, what fueled his nightmares for the months since. Now this even would cause him more grief.
“You are right there. I was terrified when we where summoned to check the walls, and then falling under commander Smith’s command, that was worse. But I feel like I could survive the world after this…I just hope this arrogance is gone before the next time I am calle apon for battle.”
Rhetorical questions need not be answered, yet a soft hmm comes from the boy in acknowledgement that he had spoken. A breath is taken, and he slowly exhales. He’s exhausted, a feat that shows clear in his gaze. He’s worn out, in every possible aspect. Mostly emotionally, rather than physically. And strangely enough, it always seemed that emotional and mental exhaustion carried out worse than a physical one. He doesn’t even feel apt to continue the conversation, because he’s mostly zoning in and out, even though he’s trying hard to concentrate.
Speaking helps, it’s currently helping the flashes of bloodied memories from flickering through his brain. An amused smile pulls over his lips before it fades; amused because someone just stated he was right about something. He’s not used to that. But his following words of encouragement fall a bit flat. He doesn’t carry that same hyped up attitude he generally did, being a bit monotone in his words, seemingly convincing himself just as well.
“You’ll be fine, I’m sure. All we can do is prepare. If you believe you can survive, you’re off to a good start. Most fatal mistakes happen when you doubt yourself.”
There’s a pat to his shoulder, and he’s beginning to move away. Mostly because he’s seeking out some rest, not because he isn’t enjoying the conversation. He is, it’s good to catch up with people he’s trained with. To see where they are, a place so different from his own. And well, they were all in the same loop, the same war, even if they didn’t want to face that fact.
“I’m sorry it took so long for us to speak, but maybe we can catch up another time, when things are a bit calmer?”
Eyebrows pulled together for a moment, trying to figure out if he was alright. He seemed a bit… tense. A light shrug pulled over his shoulder, because he’s utterly exhausted and kind of starving. Yet he’s more than content, glad to be here. Even if all he’s doing at the given moment is watching him trace out invisible lines over the table.
“I’m good.”
He grows quiet after his answer, mostly because he’s taking amusement in watching him, body language, and what little expressions he gave off. Eren was usually good at reading people, especially those like him, where every expression on their faces directly links to their thoughts. That smile, regardless of how brief it had been, was painted into his memory. He rather likes it, and hopes he’ll be able to witness such a sight more often. At least, this time, he’s being honest with himself without the nerves following. Seems as if every passing second, he’s beginning to stay calmer and much more collected. Seems almost natural to be at a café with a strange man he had only two brief conversations with, and drove home once.
“Yeah, sure.”
He gladly accepts, never being one to turn down anything sweet… or edible. He’s got quite the appetite, and lucky for him, he has a quick metabolism to burn it off. And once more – it goes silent. He’s thinking, trying to find a way to break the silence. He doesn’t want this to go bad, make it so they never go out for another coffee again. He blurts out the first thing that comes to mind, and he’s instantly cringing.
“So, my schedule’s changing. 7 to 2. We’re going on break, so… Just so you know, I guess? Being your favorite cashier and all, I just thought you’d want to know.”
His mouth snaps shut, catching himself begin to blab. He rubs his temple, shrinking into his seat. His mind is racing, nagging inwardly. Why would he care, anyways? It’s not like the store visits are to strike up a chat with someone that will eventually start to nag him about his cigarettes and his health. He takes hold of the cup once more, taking a drink to ensure he doesn’t say something stupid.
