Anyway hello hi heya

I wanted to make a little tribute post to my late concept art teacher. I've only known him a year and was kinda intimated at first because of his talents out of my league and critical spirit, but overtime, he helped me face stuff in art i was struggling in and afraid to confront, like long perspective, backgrounds, semi realistic digital paintings and architecture, and i actually noticed progress thanks to him. He was always calm and encouraging, and believed in me even at my rock bottom affecting my work performance. He even offered me to vent sometimes and take breaks. I could never be mad at a bad grade for a botched assignment cuz I know he believed in me. All around very ressourceful and friendly guy and perfect teacher.

I had to leave my animation school before even graduating due to a series of shitty mishaps in my life and post traumatic stress, and I was ready to give up on art entirely. I learned that he passed away very recently, although he was still pretty young and still working on projects and doing fun after school classes with students. Life is unfair. So I want to get back into drawing to make him proud. Here's some pieces we worked on together who were the fruit of his constructive criticism.

Hi PB mutuals sorry for the massive hiatus, ive been through really rough events irl that affected my psyche and my ability to draw and had to take intensive therapy. This piece was originally drawn on Speedwagon's bday and looking back on i really like how i drew the hair, the face and the hands so here have it ^^

Big movie companies be like ‘‘animation ? Ew. We’re gonna make this property that already uses stylized animation as the base of its creative choices live-action and it’ll blow everyone away !!!’’

And the movie ends up being 90% nightmare fuel hyper realistic cgi (btw cgi is a form of animation, sorry not sorry Hollywood and Disney) from underpaid and overworked animators and a few irl actors you’ve already seen 50 times in the same formula before thrown in front of a green screen, with a generic plot that 14 y/o girls who write boy bands fanfics on Wattpad for fun could have genuinely written better.

But sure, stylized animation is for kids and not a real cinema medium unlike big boy live-action thats just semi realistic animation in a trenchcoat /sar
