A few photos of our staying in Kanding
'The People's Square' in Chang Du.
On The Dance Floor.
Guess what. I went clubbing in China. The most I will say is that I went clubbing in China. The least. I went clubbing. It was an experience.
Last temple in Zian. Heading off to Chang Du.
Bow before the splendour of the Terracotta Army!! Put simply its a brilliant piece of history.
Terracotta Army.
Just got back from the Terracotta Army. Got a bus from Xian and was blown away by the sheer size of the army. Photos coming soon!!!
About to head off to Xian on a standing 12 hour train journey. I won't last that long so I'm going to have to improvise a seat out of my bag. Wish me luck!!!
Making Plans.
At the moment we are drinking beer and organising where next to go. We have decided to go West via trains and in the third week head back.
Spending time in the hostel bar.
Photos from the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
Now in Beijing.
Just arrived in Beijing and its very different to Shanghai. Located in a Hostel near Tian'anmen Square. Luckily it's about 5 degrees cooler here and not as humid but that can change. Going to the square, the resting place of Mao and some other touristy places. This is the last of the major cities we are visiting and from Beijing on its going to be very interesting.
The midnight BBQ.
First day in China.
Hello all! It's been one exciting day in China. First stop Shanghai! Me, Sean an Morris have managed to get to our hostel and its amazing. Not a dump at all, and has air-con with comfy beds. The humidity is better than expected and I can get used to it like I did in Singapore. Crossing the roads are crazy and you have to be a mixture of confident and hyper aware. Food is great and we've been to way is called a midnight BBQ. Just really tasty food cooked on the street. You go up and choose what veg meat or fish you want and they cook it while you sit on improvised chairs drinking cool beer. First day and its been great. Only down side it that Sean's bag never turned up at the airport and all of Morris's clothes have been ruined after 7 months here. We are sorting that out straight away. First thing tomorrow we are having a traditional Chinese breakfast. This apparently consists of dumplings which is fantastic for me.
It's down time on the plane. Traveling by air is always interesting. It's a strange mix or boredom that is punctuated by small episodes of terrifying excitement. Take off, turbulence and landing. I'm spending the time watching a documentary on my iPad. It's a grey tonic against the boredom. I doubt I'm going to be much bored in China. It's going to be one hell of a culture shock I think and one hell of an adventure. If I can I will sleep. Ie always enjoyed traveling by air and the 9 hour trip doesn't bother me.
Breakfast. I have no idea what's in it and I didn't think the interesting eating would start before getting to China.
This is the art of handling waiting in Airports.
It's hardly original but I've got The Art of War on audio book while waiting in Helsinki airport waiting for Sean to fly faster. It's a great read (or listen in my case). It's also great for killing time. I'm going to have to listen to it over and over to get all the information in my head.
