Now that we know what One day means what do you think of 19 days? it came to my mind the time JY spends missing (?)
well first off, I’d like to clarify that it’s not so much that old xian revealed a hidden meaning of the phrase ‘one day’ that we only just now found out, so much as old xian chose to give it a deeper meaning over time; as in this isn’t some sort of huge revelation that was a long time coming or something old xian had planned from the very beginning. old xian really didn’t have much of a plan for the 19 days story we know currently, it was just supposed to be a bunch of comedy one-shot like shorts of some boys. It really didn’t have a huge substantial purpose or plot planned out that it does now — something old xian has admitted. old xian has been writing ‘one day’ at the top of 19 days chapters since the very beginning, and as said before, since old xian didn’t have any intention of delving deep into the story, the band is likely not the reason why it was originally written there. this is also why there may be plotholes + things that don’t make sense at times from the beginning compared to now.
I bring this up to clarify that old xian didn’t purposely have ‘one day’ written because of a band that was secretly planned from the very beginning. old xian didn’t have many, many things planned, I mean the characters didn’t even have names back then ~let alone a band planned lol~ which is the reason why I said ox chose to give it a deeper meaning as time went on, not that it already had one. that said, I think the meaning old xian decided to give it is beautiful considering the amount of emotional depth that was put behind it.
so to go off to the second part of your question, the meaning behind the title ‘19 days’ is not what most people think. it doesn’t stand for the amount of days the story spans, it doesn’t stand for the amount of days jian yi is gone since we know he is gone for 3 years, and it doesn’t stand for any amount of time for a special event in the storyline as far as we know. originally 19 days is an anthology collection of short manhua stories with 19 different artists involved including old xian and tan jiu, where each story depicts one day (each day being a completely separate one, and one of the days being where ox wrote about zhan zheng xi and jian yi for the first time), hence why it’s called 19 days.
when old xian created the 19 days comic we know now, ox decided draw a story loosely based off the comedy short she wrote from there and kept/adopted the project name. thats all there is to it lol. so the ‘19 days’ title itself really does not have any other special meaning. for now it only stands as the adopted title from the anthology she once worked on.. that is until and unless old xian decides to give it another special meaning (as done with the phrase ‘one day’ recently) because it’s possible ox will decide add no extra meaning to it. personally, I wouldn’t speculate to any other hidden meanings for now than for what we have.
