it’s just such a fucking waste. spending all these years being attached to these characters and enjoying watching them and being invested in the plot and it all ending like this. el died and murray lives. and maybe she didn’t die, but it’s genuinely so tragic that the one character who wanted a normal life and a family more than anything and had suffered her whole life didn’t get any of that. holly wheeler got a whole plot and characterisation while mike wheeler, a character i’ve loved since s1, didn’t have anything to do all season and got the worst ending possible. it’s genuinely incredible that they thought up that ending for mike. the more i think about the more horrible it seems and i feel like i’ll keep coming back to complain about it. this season will was supposed to be the Main Character but he honestly didn’t even have that much to do. he had more to do with the supernatural plot as compared to s3 and s4 but i still don’t think it’s satisfying. no one even talks about how harming the hivemind could harm will or the fact that the upside down is stuck on the day he went missing and henry’s connection to the date. or why he went missing at all. and i think those are the most basic things you could address about your Main Character in the last fucking season that supposedly answers Everything. ok. the mind flayer was a threat for 5 minutes. barely that actually because they immediately came up with a plan on how to defeat this otherworldly super powerful monster. 5 seasons were building up to this confrontation. no one even got injured. we never even see any demogorgons, who were the very first creatures we saw from the upside down ever. we never saw el as happy as she was with max in s3 and she literally saved max’s life, but both of them barely react to each other’s presence and max barely reacts to el dying. robin ended the season at steve’s side because we’ll do our best to ignore that she’s a lesbian. joyce is barely doing anything this entire season, and especially in the finale, when joyce was THEE most important character in the beginning in discovering the upside down and what was going on there. we also of course won’t acknowledge the fact that hopper and joyce and even karen knew henry because it’s more important that we watch holly wheeler dance to i think we’re alone now and try out dresses. we don’t know what’s going on with erica but we know that holly and derek are friends and that her group of friends play dnd now. great.
