Hi, I'm Mimi and I love musicals! My pronouns are she/they... I think. :) we shall see lol. for now she/they. I am an adult. Please be normal -- I will interact with anyone who is kind and not creepy.

My main posts are about musicals, because I find them to be the most beautiful art form -- but occasionally I will randomly post about myself/other things/writing bc I do that too i've just never published anything as of this post.

My current favorite musical is probably the Outsiders or Suffs

I think that when two-bit's dad was still in the picture he would give two-bit the silent treatment as a punishment and sometimes wouldn't talk to him for days, so now two-bit can't stand to sit in silence for too long even if it's supposed to be a "comfortable silence", and has to constantly be cracking a joke or making some off-handed comment. It's even worse if no one responds to him or laughs at a joke he made bc he sees it as rejection and feels the need to laugh at whatever he said to make himself not feel so stupid and embarrassed

Shoutout to the people who grew up in a house where being gay or trans was just never talked about.

Shoutout to the people whose parents support lgbt rights but never told their kids until they were in their teens or twenties because they said it was “difficult to explain to children”.

Shoutout to the people whose religious communities came out in support just a little too late.

Shoutout to everyone afraid to come out just because they know they’ll be safe physically but they don’t know how everything will change socially.

Shoutout to everyone whose internalized homophobia that they’re trying to overcome came from subtle cues and not explicit statements.

Shoutout to the in betweeners. The pain you felt is real.

Thinking about all the greasers who die in ordinary, undramatic ways that don’t make the news, who aren’t dubbed heroes and don’t even cause enough of a stir to be branded as hoodlums, who die every day in everyday ways, whose deaths are the background rattle of their living conditions like a faulty boiler in winter.

A hood in the Shepard gang with the wildest stories of surviving getting stabbed, shot at, and hit with a Soc’s corvette, gets the flu and dies on his couch. His gang is so angry and restless because they can’t beat up an illness or the doctors he didn’t even see. Angela is the one who finds him when she’s dispatched to bring him some soup, because that’s what greaser girls are for - to patch up their boys, to play fucking nursemaid, to be the even more unnoticed witnesses to the unnoticed deaths; the deaths not action packed enough for boys to stomach.

clark brillstein, if asked by any of the members of his old congregation in the street, will tell them the reason he changed his name is to sound more professional, and they all know he's lying but they don't say anything of it

chaim brillstein, at 8, who realized who he was hiding from when a couple of boys climbed over the playground fence of the synagogue and shoved them, whispered slurs, soda going from playful to defiant, chaim going from playful to clark.

clark brillstein at 12, who stopped playing with soda because his new friend trip said to, but his friend trip's daddy had once said to his son to never play with that one kid who's named goldman because he thinks his daddy is one of the money-grabbing types and trip is nodding solemnly and brillstein, nodding along, becomes brill.

brill at 14, staring at the hole in the glass by the deli on the east side where a boy (no one knows who) threw a rock clean through, and inside old mrs green is sweeping up broken glass, and outside brill doesn't understand why they aren't hiding.

brill at 15, eager to meet the parents of his amazing girlfriend (apparently they own a jumbo jet?!), when they ask him if his last name is German, mrs bush smiling a shiny smile and brill smiling and nodding, bev's hand squeezing his tightly under the table.

brill at 17, face to face with soda at the rumble, his childhood flashing before him, running away, just like he did when soda chased him with a stick, laughing, becoming chaim again.

I just saw an anon come into a gif-maker’s ask box and start with the phrase: “I’m trying not to spam your inbox with reblogs, but” and then go on to say how much they love the gifs.

But I’m still stuck on that opening phrase because…what? I am so confused by how people view interactions on tumblr & AO3 these days. Let me make it very clear for anyone who is unsure:

CREATORS WANT YOU TO INTERACT WITH THEIR WORK.

The limit does not exist on how many of their works you can interact with in a certain period.

If you like every fic they’ve ever written? Then feel free to give them all kudos and even leave a comment on every single one if you feel inclined! If you’re going through someone’s blog and you vibe with every post, like/reblog to your heart’s content!

As long as you’re not expecting something back from them or adding a ton of irrelevant comments, it’s not spam! It’s what this is all about!! I’m not even much of a creator and I still feel a huge sense of pride when I see a ton of notifications in a row from a person, as it clearly shows they thought my blog was worth spending time on.

And if for some reason a creator is annoyed by this (unlikely), they can manage their own experience (turn off notifs, not look at their notes, delete the fic, etc) so don’t deprive the majority of creators because of some imagined annoyed person. Fandom is a collaborative effort and we all must participate!
